Pick of the Day: Meme Fighter LIVE! (in LA) 9/23

September 5, 2023
News
Dylan Adler, game show, ify nwadiwe, jenny zigrino, los angeles comedy, lyric hyperion, meme fighter, nick gligor

As it stands now, there is no undisputed sort of King of Iron Fist Tournament for comedy, but, we here at The Comedy Bureau have partnered with brand spankin’ new app, Meme Fighter, to get a bit closer to such a thing with the aptly named Meme Fighter LIVE!

As you might surmise, we pit some of the very best comedians (and you know we mean that when WE here at TCB say it) versus each other with memes as the only “weapon” at their disposal. Meme Fighter Live! will decide comedy supremacy through the shrewdest, most hysterical manipulation of the language of the Internet.

For this inaugural edition, we have the esteemed “fighters” of Dylan Adler, Ify Nwadiwe & Jenny Zigrino, all undeniable comedic forces in their own rights under the presiding of one of the best hosts around, Nick Gligor. They will all gather at Lyric Hyperion on Sat. Sept. 23rd at 9:30PM and for $15 you can get a front row seat to see who is the cleverest and funniest of them all (seriously, we’re part of the running the show, which means it’ll be a damn good time).

Get tickets right now right here.

Pick of the Day: SPEED BODY (in LA) 4/9

March 20, 2023
News
los angeles comedy, matt moeller, nick gligor, perfect body, yard theater

Earlier this year, comedian Matt Moeller put himself through an emotional gauntlet by having 20 different comedians break up with him in whatever fashion struck their whims. While that could be a dark journey for everyone involved, including the audience, it proved to be a hysterically cathartic mad dash through the most imaginative ways someone can consciously uncouple with their partner.

Moeller is putting himself through another round of comedic punishment for SPEED BODY, this one being a bit more physical as he is challenging another 20 different comedians to get him to the perfect body in 2 minutes. The impossible circumstances should make for a comedic Tough Mudder race.

Also, one of the best hosts LA has, Nick Gligor will be offering splendid color commentary, riffs, and impromptu karaoke the whole time.

SPEED BODY is set to happen Sun. Apr. 9th at 9PM at The Yard Theater with tickets going for $5. Go get them here. Go. NOW.

The outdoors and the accompanying activities of going outdoors seem to be quite in style right now, especially since that’s pretty much one of the only things we all can do somewhat safely during this pandemic. However, people are quite in the stir-crazy, traumatized daze of these times because of COVID-19 and everything else that’s going on the world.

So, going fishing these days might not be just “going fishing” as it is in this great wild, silly, and darkly comedic short film “Gone Fishing”. OK, we don’t want to give too much away, just trust us that Gone Fishing really captures the spirit of how cooped up some of us feel and that Nick Gligor plays what might be your new favorite psychopath.

Watch Gone Fishing here.

Directed by Phillip Clark Davis
Written by Davis, Nick Gligor, and Jake Disch.
Starring: Nick Gligor, Chance LaSalle, Jasper Sams, and Mark Kadlec

It should be the perfect palate cleanser for whatever happens at The Oscars this year.

For 2 years, The Pack Theater has been home to our favorite inter-dimensional character/bit show, SPEEDFACE.

To mark this anniversary this Sunday, they’re starting earlier than normal at 9PM so they can put on an extra special, big Speedface chock full of the best bits of comedy that only last 100 seconds.

As with all shows at The Pack Theater, admission is ‘pay what you can’. Get more details here.
