The hour of Only Whores Wear Purple allows room for Feinstein to go beyond the voices and characters to skewer things like her own love life and her overly excited mother. It’s Feinstein most personal and, consequently, best special yet.

Showtime Adapting Ingrid Jungermann’s Web Series “F to 7th” for TV

(via Deadline)

This might be one of the more intriguing things on Showtime’s development slate in quite some time.

Ingrid Jungermann’s F to 7th web series was such a well-crafted dramedy with a unique perspective that questions gender identity and sexuality that it definitely falls in league with the likes of Transparent. It managed to do so as independent web series as opposed to being a full fledged television show.

That’s all changing now as Showtime is developing F to 7th to potentially be their next comedy series and we can’t wait to see what Jungermann might get to do with a slot on Showtime.

First off, Kristen Schaal playing Amelia Earhart should make your day on its own. However, Great Minds with Dan Harmon one-upped that by giving the farewell to Earhart that she probably would have wanted.

While the act has been oft described as ‘doggy style’, there are psychological complexities that come with trying anal that one probably wouldn’t think of, especially from the female perspective, when calling it something rather crass.

Tight Spot from writer/star Carmen Angelica and director Matt Kazman beautifully explores those deep layers and the anxieties that those layers are riddled with when it comes to butt stuff.

Please watch, enjoy, and potentially be enlightened about your love life here.

Those are the comedy folks that are listed next to Pope Francis, Stephen Curry, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Hillary Clinton.

Time Magazine just released its annual big-to-do list of the 100 Most Influential People this year and the likes of Jane The Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez, comedy multi-hyphenate Aziz Ansari, enduring comedy star of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and bonafide, self-made comedy force Melissa McCarthy all made the list.

John Oliver (”the John Oliver effect” is a real thing) and Samantha Bee (Full Frontal, like Last Week Tonight, picked up right where Jon Stewart left off and added more bite over bark) seem to be absent from the list, but don’t let that take away from how great Master of None, Spy, Veep, and Jane The Virgin are.

We would go so far as to say that Maria Bamford is one of the rare comedians that exhibits the art form of comedy at its highest level. Her incredibly poignant, personal, hilarious, life affirming stand-up not only makes us double over laughing, but is something that makes us feel better about the world.

As you can imagine, her upcoming Netflix series Lady Dynamite has Maria’s life distilled and done so by the expert hands of Mitch Hurwitz and Pam Brady.

Naturally, it looks fantastic based on this trailer. Also, the appearances of Lennon Parham, Bridget Everett, Jason Mantzoukas, Sarah Silverman, Andy Daly, and more of your favorite comedy folks are a bonus.

Look for all the episodes of Lady Dynamite to start streaming on Friday, May 20th.

Lifetime TV to Air Catastrophe and Develop Dramedy from Wilfred’s Jason Gann

Lifetime, along with half of cable TV, continuing its foray int comedy.

Having dipped its toe into the comedic waters with Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever and the Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell faux-Lifetime style drama A Deadly Adoption, Lifetime is now bringing in more programming that’s atypical from what their brand has been for years.

First off, they’ll be the first network to air Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Catastrophe on linear U.S. television (Catastrophe is currently only available in the States on Amazon). That will happen sometime early next year.

Secondly, Wilfred co-creator and star Jason Gann is developing a new dramedy currently called Breeders that explores the high school nature of becoming a suburban mom.

Both developments seem to, as far as we can tell right now, bode well for Lifetime.

Here’s Your First Look at TBS’ Desert Island Comedy “Wrecked” Premiering June 14th

Will it be a more absurd, funnier version of Lost? Perhaps a darker, but more comedic version of Lord of the Flies with more diverse adults? Maybe a comedy version of Alive set on a remote island?

TBS’ new comedy Wrecked, which pits survivors of a plane crash to live on said remote island may be any one of those things as you can see from this great, mayhem-filled teaser.

It might be something else altogether (perhaps even better than those educated guesses), but we’ll all have to wait until the series premiere on Tuesday, June 14th at 10PM on TBS to find out.
