FXx Is Going Short Form and Getting Trippy This Week with Premiere of “Cake”

FX (and FXx) have solidified themselves as purveyors of boundary pushing narrative sitcoms whether it be Atlanta, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, or Baskets.

Starting this Wed. Sept. 25th at 10:30PM, FXx will be dipping their toes into the Adult Swim side of things with a cornucopia of short form creations, both live action and animated, in a series known as Cake.

From the looks of it, FXx will be swinging for the fences of going out there with these beautiful/trippy/weird/hysterical/absurd morsels.

You can get a nice little taste of what’s going to be served with this trailer, then look out for the series premiere of Cake at 10:30PM, Sept. 25th on FXx.

What We Do In The Shadows,. the TV Series, Finally Premieres Tonight on FX

It has been five years since What We Do In The Shadows came out as a movie and delighted many with its offbeat, dark, and also zany humor and started to put Taika Waititi’s name deservedly on the map.

Tonight, the TV adaptation, which has seemingly been in the works for quite a long time, has its series premiere on FX at 10PM. We have a pretty good feeling about the show, as you can see from this teaser, that much of the charm and verve of the original from Taika and Jemaine Clement seems to be well intact.

Jake Weisman, Matt Ingebretson, and Pat Bishop’s ultra dark workplace comedy, Corporate, finally has its series premiere at 10PM tonight on Comedy Central.

Simply put, it’s fantastic and you should absolutely watch it (even if you streamed the four episodes that were streaming online already).

By the way, here’s a great “message” from Hampton DeVille the corporation in Corporate.

Jake Weisman, Pat Bishop, and Matt Ingebretson Dark Workplace Comedy “Corporate” Will Finally Premiere in January 2018

Our excitement for this show has sustained for several months now as Pat Bishop, Matt Ingebretson, and Jake Weisman’s slick, yet dark sense of humor is right up our alley.

Just look at Weisman obsession with taking pictures with knives, even when he’s announcing the premiere date of his show.

In any case, mark down Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 as the series premiere date for Corporate.

Also, here’s a brief teaser if you need a bit of a taste of what’s to come.

The Opposition with Jordan Klepper Has Its Series Premiere Tonight

September 25, 2017
Uncategorized

It’s almost been three years since the 11:30PM slot during the week at Comedy Central has been occupied by something uber-satirical in nature. The Colbert Report ended at the end of 2014 followed up by a much more grounded The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, then, briefly by the game show @midnight.

Now, Jordan Klepper looks to return to a Colbert Report-ish show with The Opposition that will be the companion to The Daily Show. In fact, think of The Opposition with Jordan Klepper is to Infowars as The Colbert Report was to The O’Reilly Factor.

See how much that analogy rings true tonight at 11:30PM on Comedy Central.

Not only is Room 104 set in one room, but Jay and Mark Duplass set up rules where they couldn’t leave the show couldn’t leave the room at all, they had to shoot an episode in three days with no more than three actors, and made sure that each episode will be done in a different style.

Sound fascinating? Good.

Tune in to the series premiere tonight at 11:30PM on HBO.

NBC did let Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt get away.

However, it would seem that they’re not going to make the same mistake with another show from the minds behind 30 Rock.

So, with that in mind, catch the series premiere of Great News, the new show from Fey, Wigfield and Carlock (who delighted us all for years at the aforementioned 30 Rock) tonight at 9PM on NBC.

From the promo, there’s promise of something that could be really good here.

TBS’ Search Party Starring Alia Shawkat Premieres Tonight and Is Also Streaming the Whole Season Online Right Now

You can watch the amazing writing-directing duo of Charles Rogers and Sarah-Violet Bliss present their latest work in a back-to-back episode series premiere of Search Party. There are very few people who nail millennials quite like Rogers and Bliss in a way that’s both organic and satirical.

In the show, Alia Shawkat leads a literal search party for a missing “friend” when she herself is pretty lost as is.

If you’re already hooked and have a cable login, you can watch all ten episodes right now at the link above. If you’re watching it the old school way on air, the premiere is at 11PM on TBS.

The premiere of the long-awaited off-kilter caper comedy Search Party is still a couple of weeks away (Monday November 21st to be exact).

That being said, TBS was nice enough, just like they did with People of Earth, to put the full first episode on YouTube for probably the most convenient way to watch it.

So, start to see why the hell Alia Shawkat is so obsessed with finding this girl named Chantal here, then, on the premiere day, you can binge the whole first season.

In the meantime, here are what aliens think of Halloween.

His new show, The Good Place, is premiering tonight with back-to-back episodes starting at 10PM on NBC. The third episode will air on Thursday at 8:30PM, their actual weekly time slot.

We hope this will be a good start to NBC’s new comedy line-up for this fall.

Danny McBride and Walton Goggins Make Their Debut as Two of the Most Conniving “Vice Principals” Ever Tonight

10:30PM on HBO.

The series premiere of Vice Principals is tonight on HBO and, having gotten to see a sneak preview of the first two episodes, we’ll say that Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and David Gordon Green probably exceed whatever expectations you have for the series.

All of the unapologetic buffoonery from Eastbound and Down comes to the setting of a high school, but what makes the series especially exciting is that you know that it’s only going to last 18 episodes. Because of that, there’s an even juicier tension through the catastrophic shenanigans between McBride and Goggins trying to become the lone principal as their days are numbered.

Again, watch it at 10:30PM tonight.

11:45PM on Adult Swim will see the series premiere of Brad Neely’s latest creation (that you’ll probably have saying over and over) Harg Nallin’ Sclopio Peepio.

From the looks of it, it’ll be fun little bursts of Brad’s psyche, done up his animation style of course.

Again, check it out at 11:45PM on Adult Swim.

Oh yeah, Ilana Glazer, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Gabourey Sidibe, Darell Hammond, and Affion Crocket are all involved as well.

TBS’ latest series, Wrecked, is on deck for its series premiere at 10PM tonight.

So far, it looks like a comedic take on Lost, thought it has yet to be seen how weird the show will get for that comparison to really ring true.

In the meantime, you can watch the crash that brings all the survivors on the show together, sort of, here.

Tonight, NBC moves forward in expanding its variety show line-up with Maya and Marty. Unlike SNL, it has two permanent hosts in Maya Rudolph and Martin Short and will very likely feature way more musical numbers.

For all of the iterations that this show has gone through in order to premiere tonight (i.e. a special with just Maya to a variety show headlined by just Maya), you should check the series premiere out to see what NBC has come up with.

Oh yeah, the pairing of the accomplished comedy stars that can sing and dance, Maya Rudolph and Martin Short, is definitely worth catching as well.

Maya and Marty premieres at 10PM on NBC.

Marry Me with Casey Wilson and Ken Marino Premieres in October on NBC

Of the new crop of sitcoms coming this fall, one of the most promising ones seems to be David Caspe’s Marry Me starring Casey Wilson and Ken Marino.

While it’s a romantic comedy like so many of the others, it’s concept new and that cast, as you might have already surmised, is pretty damn good. Look out for the series premiere of Marry Me on Tues. Oct 14th at 9PM on NBC.
