Room 104 Season 3 Trailer Is Here and Is as Trippy as Can Be

By now, you ought to expect the unexpected with The Duplass Brothers’ HBO anthology series that bends genre, tone, etc. all in the confines of one room.

This upcoming third season should prove no different as you can see in the trailer. Also, you might dig that featured in the cast will be Arturo Castro, Paul F. Tompkins (perhaps a vintage one w/o facial hair), Sam Richardson (with an almost Detroiters-like moment), Luke Wilson, and Steve Little

If you’re on board, get ready to set sail when the new season premieres Fri. Sept. 13th on HBO.

“#Room104 just got greenlit for Season 2… thanks @HBO!

The Duplass Brothers’ Room 104 just got a second season.

If Jay and Mark are going to stick to their own rules, we can’t wait to see how they’ll make another whole season that can’t leave Room 104, takes place in one day, and has to be done in a completely different genre/style.

Not only is Room 104 set in one room, but Jay and Mark Duplass set up rules where they couldn’t leave the show couldn’t leave the room at all, they had to shoot an episode in three days with no more than three actors, and made sure that each episode will be done in a different style.

Sound fascinating? Good.

Tune in to the series premiere tonight at 11:30PM on HBO.

See What Rules The Duplass Brothers Set Up for Themselves While Making “Room 104″

As The Duplass Brothers first Sundance short film that got that attention was shot as lo fi as possible with no crew and in one day, you might know that some of Jay and Mark Duplass’ best work comes out of having restrictions.

With their upcoming HBO anthology series, they have a lot more resources at their disposal, but made sure to stay true to their roots by imposing a handful of rules in making and shooting each episode. Based off how the show looks and feels already, we think this was probably a pretty good call on their part.

See what the rules are here, then look for the series premiere of Room 104 on July 28th.

Watch Trailer for Doc “Asperger’s Are Us” Following a Different Sort of Comedy Troupe

A documentary that’s inspirational, about coming up in comedy, fighting negative stereotypes about not being a neurotypical or “NT” sounds like a winning combo to us.

Noah Britton, Ethan Finlan, Jack Hanke, New Michael Ingemi are all on the autism spectrum, but manage to do comedy anyway and the film follows how exactly they pull that off.

The Duplass Brothers thought the same thing and attached themselves to the movie to hopefully get it more exposure.

Watch the trailer for Alex Lehmann’s Asperger’s Are Us at the link above.

Also, the actual group do tour and you can find their dates (mostly on the East Coast) here.

The Duplass Brothers pretty much have dramedy down pat. They know how to make great dramedy and they definitely know how and where to find it.

The Duplass Brothers Productions’ latest film is this indie dramedy from writer/director Linas Phillips, Rainbow Time. It follows the complex and tense relationship between a developmentally delayed middle aged man, his brother, and his brother’s girlfriend and does so in a way that looks heartfelt, offbeat, and cathartic, according to this trailer.

Linas plays the developmentally delayed man known as Shonzi and is joined by an impressive cast of Timm Sharp, Melanie Lynskey, and Tobin Bell.

Look for Rainbow Time in theaters on November 4th.

FYI, all Togetherness fans, Mark and Jay Duplass are back at HBO. You can rest slightly more easy now.

Also, as this will be an anthology set at a chain hotel, this will be a fascinating, possibly more free sandbox for the Duplass brothers to play in.

We can’t wait to see what they come up with in 2017 when the series is set to debut.

The Duplass Brothers’ Togetherness is pretty much everything you would want from a TV show from Jay and Mark Duplass in how they unflinchingly explore the real and comedic tension of everyday life.

From the looks of this promo, Season 2 will be doubling down on that notion.

Catch the season premiere on Sun. Feb. 21st at 10:30PM on HBO.

The Orchard Gets The Rights to Distribution Aside From Netflix For Seven Movies From The Duplass Brothers

Once more, there is proof of the indie empire, whether they’re aware of it or not, that Mark and Jay Duplass show are building.

The Duplass Brothers already have a four picture deal at Netflix and an overall deal at HBO. Why not get worldwide theatrical and non-online streaming distribution for seven of their movies?

The Orchard already will be releasing their swingers comedy The Overnight and will now take on six other movies from Mark and Jay to release theatrically as well as through any other media that isn’t Netflix/online streaming.

At this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mark and Jay start a full fledged studio in the not so distant future.

The Duplass Brothers Now Have a Four Picture Deal at Netflix and an Overall Deal at HBO

Coming from a 7 minute short that followed a man trying desperately to record his outgoing voicemail they made over a decade ago, The Duplass Brothers are now real Hollywood power brokers.

Earlier this year, The Duplass Brothers scored a four picture deal over at Netflix, which was both new and exciting territory for Netflix as well as Mark and Jay.

Now that the duo have succeeded with their series Togetherness and the upcoming Animals at HBO, HBO has gone in for a two-year overall deal for Mark and Jay Duplass to develop and produce more original series.

Between making their own TV series and movies then starring in others, they’re solidifying an indie empire of sorts.

HBO Orders Two Seasons of Animated Comedy Series “Animals” From Phil Matarese, Mike Luciano, and The Duplass Brothers

Props to HBO for decisiveness.

Both The Duplass Brothers and HBO are expanding their comedic scope by going two seasons in on an animated comedy series created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano. Apparently, it’s good enough to warrant the entire first season being picked up by HBO as well as the order for a second one all in one feel swoop.

As Animals follows NYC based animals and is targeted at adults, we’re curious how many animal jokes they’ll be firing off as compared to BoJack Horseman.

Nick Kroll, Katie Aselton, and Mark Duplass are all set to voice various animals.

We hope this is a hit not only to have a good show, but to encourage networks to give bigger season orders to new shows or have faith in new shows at all.

You’ve enjoyed Nick Kroll in many a different costume on Kroll Show, but now you get to see him probably as grounded as he’ll get as someone who loses everything almost instantly in Adult Beginners.

The Duplass Brothers produced this movie from a story written by Kroll himself, which boasts a cast of of Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Joel McHale. So, that along with a bit of Skeleton Twins vibe has got our attention.

You can watch the trailer here and look for Adult Beginners in theaters and VOD on Apr. 24th.

This year’s Sundance Film Festival has distributors combing through the big bills in their wallets for comedy/dramedy.

Even though, Me And Earl And The Dying Girl ended up not setting a buy record at the festival, it still carried a decently sized price tag in the mid 7 figure range.

Other films that might potentially rule the specialty box office and beyond this year include:

–Kevin Pollak’s documentary Misery Loves Comedy acquired by Tribeca Film.

–The D Train with Jack Black, James Marsden, Kathryn Hahn, Jeffrey Tambor, Mike White, and Kyle Bornheimer bought up by IFC Films for $3 million.

-The world rights for Results from Andrew Bujalski, the man who brought Computer Chess into the world, acquired by Magnolia Pictures.

–The North American rights to Don Verdean with Sam Rockwell, Danny McBride, Leslie Bibb, Jemaine Clement, Will Forte, and Amy Ryan from Jared Hess acquired by Lionsgate.

–The U.S. rights to The Bronze starring and co-written by Melissa Rauch acquired by Relativity for $3 million.

–The Overnight produced by The Duplass Brothers and Adam & Naomi Scott’s Gettin’ Rad bought up by The Orchard for $4 million.

–The world rights to Tangerine, also produced by The Duplass Brothers, acquired by Magnolia Pictures.

–Dope with Zoe Kravitz, the voice of Forest Whitaker, Blake Anderson, and more bought up by Open Road Films and Sony Pictures for $7 million.

–Mistress America from Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig bought up by Fox Searchlight for $6.5 million before it even played at the festival.

It’s inevitable that we’ll all be obsessing over their trailers in the coming months.

We imagine this might make quite the festival run when it gets finished.

The Duplass Brothers have definitely made a name for themselves in the indie comedy film world and Mark Duplass has been killing it on his own acting (check Safety Not Guaranteed if you have your doubts). This seems to be the perfect meeting of both worlds.
