TV Land’s Teachers Is Getting a Full Order for Season 3

TV Land is really happy with their original comedy series Teachers.

They’re so happy that they’re giving that rarely-seen-these-days full season order of 20 episodes for season 3 of the show.

This means, we guess, that there is enough room for two single camera cable sitcoms about teachers who are more than a little rough around the edges on television. Remember that, earlier this year, TruTV renewed Those Who Can’t for season 3 too.

HBO Renews Crashing for Season 2

HBO has come to a decision pretty quick to renew Pete Holmes’ series Crashing for a second season.

Currently, they’re in the middle of their first season, which makes us ponder how exactly Pete will continue the premise of ‘crashing’ at other people’s places through the second season.

FX Renews Baskets for a Third Season

If you’re FX right now, you’ve got to be feeling pretty great about staying the course.

That means The Americans, Atlanta, and Baskets are all on your channel and you’re riding high as can be with the critical praise and awards wins from the last few years.

So, renewing Baskets seems like a no-brainer.

Portlandia Gets an 8th Season, Which Will Be Its Final Season

The final season will air in 2018 and we’re sure there will be plenty instances where 8 birds will be put on it, whatever “it” may be.

Also, remember that Kyle MacLachlan will go from Portlandia to Twin Peaks this year. So, don’t fret too much.

IFC Orders Second Season of Dana Gould’s Stan Against Evil

Looks like Stan/John C. McGinley has plenty more demons to dispatch and cranky quips on the changes in society and culture as time marches forward.

Overall, we’re happy to hear that more TV by the brilliant Dana Gould will be made in 2017.

TBS Ordering Second Seasons of People Of Earth and Search Party

At this point, it’s getting harder to remember the TBS of old and that’s a good thing.

High concept ensemble sitcoms, Sam Bee, Conan globetrotting, and more have proven a great move for the cable network and we look forward to People of Earth and Search Party getting to push forward with their genre-bending premises in their second seasons.

The Simpsons could have their own channel that just plays non-stop Simpsons 24/7 and we’re pretty sure everyone would be cool with that (in addition to the marathon that FXx does.

Announced today, the cultural institution of The Simpsons will march forward to a 29th and 30th season at Fox.

Previously, Western drama Gunsmoke had the record for most episodes of a scripted series at 635, but The Simpsons will have had 669 total episodes by the finale of their 30th season.

Anyone think that they can take on Tonight Show’s record of 11,798 episodes and counting?

Not only is it premiering its 3rd season tonight at 12:30AM tonight on Comedy Central, but the network has just announced that it has ordered a fourth season.

Now you have two seasons of TINH to look forward to starting tonight.

‘@midnight with Chris Hardwick’ Renewed Through 2017

For now, @midnight will also stay at 11:30PM.

The show that Chris Hardwick hosts the most will now continue for another 40 weeks in a season 4 cycle going through 2017.

What we’re excited to see come out of this is the potential for more experimentation a la that week where Anthony Atamanuik as Donald Trump “sponsored” the show.

Comedy Central is leaving it open as to whether they’ll go back to airing at midnight or 11:30PM. In either case, as this year has shown, the show should be fine.

You’re The Worst Gets Picked Up for 4th Season at FXx

Stephen Falk might be well on his way to one of the best distillations of love, sex, relationships, mental illness, veterans, real life in LA, and more with his show You’re The Worst.

He’s already been lauded as such over the past three seasons and has scored a quick renewal for a 4th season from FXx with only a few episodes of season 3 having aired.

Don’t be surprised if You’re The Worst is inching in on ‘prestige comedy’ territory.

The cinematic dark family comedy Flowers has got another season ordered by its distributors in the U.S. and the UK, which are Seeso and Channel 4 respectively.

Along with Fleabag and Catastrophe, the sharing of comedy between both sides of the Atlantic is going better than it has been in quite some time.
