Watch Jordan Klepper Attempting to Talk To the Idiot Terrorists from Last Week Before They Stormed Capitol Hill

January 12, 2021
News
capitol hill, capitol riot, daily show, jordan klepper

By now, we hope you’ve come to a point of grasping the full scope of last week’s terrorist act incited by the current POTUS (hopefully, that will have changed relatively soon after this post has been made) against the U.S. Government at Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. It’s yet another very dark historical moment in an on-going streak of dark historical moments during some of the worst years of our lives.

As such, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah wanted to get in on what the hell was going through these seditious folks’ heads before they committed an insurrection against the country they supposedly stand for. The levels of idiocy and ridiculousness seem to know no bound here, which is why Daily Show correspondent Jordan Klepper masked up and attempted to chat any one of these amateur terrorists before they stormed Capitol Hill.

Klepper made an exit before this became a gonzo-journalism piece, but shining a light on the sheer absurdity before the coming chaos is crucial (no other late night show, to our knowledge, got a remote segment from last week’s ordeal).

There’s gallows humor to be enjoyed here, but there’s also a very clear look into who these folks are (and how little sense of humor they currently have).

Klepper Trailer Has Jordan Klepper Drop His Daily Show/Opposition Character

March 26, 2019
Uncategorized

Perhaps, in the interests of skirting around Malcolm Gladwell’s “Satire Paradox”, Jordan Klepper is leaving little room for interpretation in his latest comedy docu-series coming soon to Comedy Central, the eponymous Klepper.

Within it, Jordan will interview, explore, and in some cases, embed himself in marginalized communities that he wants to, according to this trailer, highlight positively (such as veterans, environmentalists, undocumented immigrants) as opposed to satirizing certain radical groups on The Daily Show or The Opposition by playing an overly pompous, bizarro version of himself.

Just see it for yourself here. If you’re into it, catch the premiere of Klepper’s second series on May 9th at Comedy Central.

What Late Night Has Planned After Trump’s First State of the Union

The very first State of the Union Address will be delivered by President Trump tonight live at 9PM EST/6PM PST.

Of course, late night will not miss an opportunity to get right in on the aftermath as soon as POTUS finishes attempting (maybe) to speak like an adult.

So, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air immediately after coverage ends on CBS (meaning it’ll be primetime here on the West Coast). He’ll have the hosts of Pod Save America: Tommy Vietor, Jon Favreau & Jon Lovett, 2 Dope Queens’ Jessica Williams & Phoebe Robinson as guests.

Trevor Noah and Jordan Klepper will go for a one-two punch by both going live after the State of the Union with The Daily Show and The Opposition at 11PM EST/8PM PST & 11:30PM EST/8:30PM PST respectively.

Oh, don’t forget that Jimmy Kimmel will being interviewing Stormy Daniels, the porn star that is making claims to have had an extramarital affair with Trump tonight as well at his normal time of 11:35PM.

The Opposition with Jordan Klepper Has Its Series Premiere Tonight

Uncategorized

It’s almost been three years since the 11:30PM slot during the week at Comedy Central has been occupied by something uber-satirical in nature. The Colbert Report ended at the end of 2014 followed up by a much more grounded The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, then, briefly by the game show @midnight.

Now, Jordan Klepper looks to return to a Colbert Report-ish show with The Opposition that will be the companion to The Daily Show. In fact, think of The Opposition with Jordan Klepper is to Infowars as The Colbert Report was to The O’Reilly Factor.

See how much that analogy rings true tonight at 11:30PM on Comedy Central.

The Opposition with Jordan Klepper Announces Its “Citizen Journalists” Team

As The Daily Show will be to The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, so will “the best f*cking news team” be to “Citizen Journalists”.

Next Monday, The Opposition with Jordan Klepper will make its debut with an 11:30PM return to something more satirical, Colbert-Report-ish on Comedy Central. Joining Klepper in this mission will be Tim Baltz, Laura Grey, Aaron Jackson, Josh Sharp, Kobi Libii and Niccole Thurman.

Given the show’s premise of Klepper of being “the opposition” at all costs, we’re sure his team will be used plenty in the field. We wouldn’t be surprised to seem them play heightened characters in panel debates too.

The Opposition with Jordan Klepper’s First Teaser Is Here and It Looks Like Klepper Might Be Picking Up Where Colbert Report Left Off

You know, it just occurred to us that The Opposition with Jordan Klepper might be the spiritual successor to The Colbert Report.

Klepper, now a former Daily Show correspondent, is set to satirize conspiracy theoriests, alt-right, etc. by taking their side to the nth degree, similar to the beloved, ironic, conservative political pundit character Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report.

See for yourself in this teaser, then look for The Opposition with Jordan Klepper’s premiere on Monday, September 25th following The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

Comedy Central Quadruples Down on Political/Topical Comedy Front with “The Opposition with Jordan Klepper”, a “Goatface” Sketch Special, Extending “The Jim Jefferies Show” and “The President Show”

Comedy Central announced a bunch of things today, many of which show where the cable network is setting their sails for. The prevailing winds are political and topical satire and, as such, Comedy Central will:

–Have The President Show take over the midnight slot from @midnight on September 28th for an additional 7 episodes
–Position “The Opposition with Jordan Klepper” as the new companion to The Daily Show, starting September 25th, that will specifically satirize the world that folks like Alex Jones see/”artistically express”
–Give an hour long sketch comedy special to Goatface Comedy, a group comprised of Hasan Minhaj (The Daily Show), Asif Ali (Wrecked), Fahim Anwar (There’s No Business Like Show Business), and Aristotle Athiras that satirizes everything from their unique perspectives
–Extend The Jim Jefferies Show for ten more episodes, which will begin on September 19th after a few weeks off.

As Netflix, FX, and HBO continue to dominate in the original scripted comedy and stand-up, Comedy Central is, consequently, putting a lot of their chips down on topical/political comedy and satire.

Hopefully, this will work out for them and all of these shows/specials just like it has for Colbert in being the late night leader as the most politically outspoken big time late night host.

The Daily Show Adds Michael Kosta as Newest Correspondent

The Daily Show Adds Michael Kosta as Newest Correspondent

As Jordan Klepper moves on up to doing his own show, Trevor Noah and The Daily Show are now taking the formerly ranked 864th tennis player in the world and making one Michael Kosta into the brand new Daily Show correspondent.

Kosta should fill in Klepper’s shoes nicely as they have a similar demeanor and cadence and probably the same shoe size (i.e. they’re very likely the same height).

Look for Kosta to start tonight.

The Daily Show’s “Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library” Pop-Up Exhibition Happening This Weekend in NYC

This weekend, a whole pop-up museum dedicated to examining POTUS’ Twitter account will open in NYC thanks to The Daily Show at 3 West 57th Street near Fifth Avenue.

You’ll be able to tweet from a golden toilet, watch a montage of what Trump thinks is “Sad!”, hear stories of people who got into a Twitter fight with Trump, and other such exhibits that would normally exist in museum, but focused completely on @realdonaldtrump on Twitter. While this is all done in the name of continuing to send up Trump and the absurdity of his administration, his tweets are, unfortunately, are and will forever be important to the historical record.

You’ll be able to check it out, free of charge, from 11AM-7PM, Friday, June 16th-Sunday, June 18th.

In fact, he’s calling it “Jordan Klepper Solves Guns” and talks to the likes of Senator Cory Booker, Former Army Special Ops Soldier Pat McNamara, Members of the Georgia Security Force Militia, and gun experts, gun nuts, etc.

Whether or not Klepper actually fulfills the premise of the title of this special, you should probably watch it as Klepper has been doing solid work in the field for The Daily Show.

Jordan Klepper Solves Guns premieres on Sunday, Jun. 11th at 10PM on Comedy Central.

This Fall, Jordan Klepper Will Be Getting the 11:30 Companion Slot to The Daily Show

Always trying to keep it in the family when they can, Comedy Central is upping Jordan Klepper from Daily Show correspondent to having his own show right after The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Monday-Thursdays.

Details are sparse at this point, but we hope that Comedy Central leans into Klepper’s exemplary work with his field pieces.

As it stands now, that does mean The President Show with Donald Trump (Anthony Atamanuik), which premieres later this month, will have to either close out its first season/cycle this fall or move to Fridays. We’ll just have to find out in a few months.

Jordan Klepper Puts Trump Supporters Through Trump’s Extreme Vetting Process

A recent initiative, dubbed “extreme vetting”, was added to Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policy this week. It calls for questioning of potential immigrants’ sympathies toward extremist religious views, LBGTQ people, women, etc.

With this litmus test, The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper wanted to see how many a Trump supporter would fare on this ‘extreme vetting’ test and did some field research at a Trump rally to find out.

Spoiler alert: you probably won’t be surprised by the results whatsoever.

–Untitled Kyle Dunnigan Project (script deal) – this script, set at a superhero academy, follows Kyle Dunnigan (“Inside Amy Schumer”) as a professor with unimpressive powers.

–“Used People” (script deal) – based on the Comedy Central digital series written by Michelle Wolf and Dan Soder, “Used People” follows uptight Michelle and stoner Dan who spend their days arguing, obsessing over their messy personal lives and – theoretically – selling used cars.

We’re really excited to see The Goddamn Comedy Jam, Roast Battle, hour stand-up specials from Kurt Braunohler, Joe DeRosa, another one from Trevor Moore and Dan Soder, and what Jordan Klepper and Jessica Williams will do with their new deals.

Also, from the sound of Moshe Kasher and Rob Huebel’s pilots, we hope that they get to see the light of day past being a pilot.

It’s back to work for The Daily Show as no shortage of nonsensical BS has taken place and/or been reported poorly in the media in the hiatus between Jon Stewart leaving and Trevor Noah taking over last night.

Noah took a nice moment to express his gratitude for this gig, thanking Jon, and then, quickly went back to business. It looks as though Trevor should grow in just fine behind The Daily Show desk.

Watch the whole premiere episode here.

When it comes to getting the truth out of Jon Stewart, even when the questions aren’t that controversial, The Daily Show correspondents Hasan Minhaj and Jordan Klepper really don’t mess around and they know where to hit Stewart where it hurts when they want answers.

Aasif Mandvi’s “Halal In The Family” Not Only Fights Islamophobia, But Makes An 80s Multi Cam Style Sitcom Watchable in 2015

Uncategorized

Aasif Mandvi really ran with what could have been just one segment on The Daily Show with correspondents Jordan Klepper and Samantha Bee and made it to something potentially groundbreaking.

A couple of months ago when Mandvi crowfunded the money to finish his spin on an classic multi cam sitcom depicting a Muslim American family in the suburbs facing all the problems that all the other American families have faced in similar suburbs over the years, we didn’t know that Halal in the Family could be this good.

Aasif does accomplish his goal of cutting down stereotypes long held by many Americans about Muslims through the lives of The Qu’osby Family (hopefully, we’ll think more positively about this family rather than the other one with the “C” instead of the “Qu”) as you can see when there is a whole “mistaken identity spy” mishap.

While there is a veil of a classic style sitcom, Halal In The Family’s intention is to be as satirical as possible and, as such, they don’t run away from the jokes that cut deep. No matter if it’s mistaken perceptions of terrorists, misguided racial slurs, or downplaying ethnicity, the show stays where most multi cam sitcoms wouldn’t dare go. Perhaps, this is the secret to doing a multi cam sitcom in an age where people often question whether the format is played out or not.

Whether that proves to be the case or not, definitely give the four episodes of Halal In The Family on Funny or Die a watch now.
