Eric Andre Announces That There Will Be a Fourth Season of “The Eric Andre Show” in Typical Eric Andre Fashion

adult swim, conan, eric andre, the eric andre show

By now or just looking at the video above before you press play, you should know what “Eric Andre fashion” means.

Adult Swim has indeed picked up The Eric Andre Show for a fourth season and rather than send a press release, Eric went on Conan to do something more akin to the way he does things on his show.

Watch how Eric did the announcement here.

Four seasons in, we wonder how Eric is going to pull off the kind of bits that he normally does with guests as there’s plenty of clips to watch to prepare themselves. Maybe more piñatas will be involved?

Chris Gethard Really Gets Into The A.V. Club’s Game Show “Pick a Choice”

Uncategorized
chris gethard, marilu henner, pick a choice, taxi, the av club

As a result of this game, Gethard also wants it to be known that he has an everlasting crush on Taxi’s Marilu Henner.

The A.V. Club has invented the most pop-culture inspired version of “Would You Rather?” that they could come up with in their game show “Pick a Choice”.

Contestants pick random cards with various pop culture characters and random situations, then choose which characters they would want to be with in those random situations (i.e. would you rather diffuse a bomb with The Super Mario Brothers or Olivia Pope?).

When it comes to Chris Gethard playing the game, he has his choices picked almost without hesitation and makes the game go even more in-depth than the host was prepared for.

MTV2 Is Reviving “Celebrity Death Match”

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

Given how well things like the Bieber Roast went, it’s good timing on MTV2′s part.

MTV2 is now working on having the gore filled claymation brawl show with celebrities “Celebrity Death Match”, that many of you probably remembered watching instead of doing some sort of homework, return once again.

In the seven years since it has been off the air, celebrities both new and old have given plenty of source material for the show to feed off from.

For instance, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine them having a Kardashians vs. Robertsons (from Duck Dynasty) fight.

Jena Friedman Finds There’s Way More to The “Looking for a Girlfriend” Guy Than His Flyers Would Lead You To Believe

April 15, 2015
Uncategorized
dan perino, interview, jena friedman

If you think about it, Jena Friedman should have her own show where she does investigative reports.

Dan Perino was tired of the “singles scene” in New York and thus started posting flyers around the city claiming that he is “Looking For a Girlfriend”. These flyers started popping in so many places that Perino gained media attention from doing this.

Daily Show producer and great comedian Jena Friedman wanted to see how Perino’s campaign for a girlfriend is going and recently interviewed him.

Turns out that Dan came off much better in his flyers than their frank conversation. It was definitely a good call that Jena had an AIDS test on hand during their conversation.

Watch the whole interview here.

Existentialism Doesn’t Seem So Confounding When David O’Doherty Sings About It While Playing a Little Keyboard

(via Splitsider)

So, 12 comics intros at live shows could potentially be, “You’ve seen our next comic on “Coming To The Stage”, coming to the stage…”

Dave Anthony, Matt McCarthy, Sara Schaefer, Ian Abramson, Rob O’Reilly, Jen D’Angelo, Rell Battle, James Davis, Jesse Popp, Benji Aflalo, Joe Sib, and Allen Strickland Williams make up 12 comics that will be hosted by Dan Levy in the new stand-up web series Coming To The Stage.

It’s a line-up you should definitely watch as featured in this trailer.

Comedy Dynamics caught some footage at the “hallowed” rooms of the Hollywood Hotel and Tribal Cafe showing that they searched everywhere they could for the best comics they could find.

Coming To The Stage is set for release online May 6th.

Check Out The Trailer for Andrew Bujalski’s Rom Com of Sorts “Results”

The man behind the wonderfully out there Computer Chess, Andrew Bujalski, brings his take on a romantic comedy with Results.

A very strange love triangle forms between personal trainers played by Cobie Smulders and Guy Pearce and a new rich client played by Kevin Corrigan in Results which seems to go a little off on a tangent from typical rom com fare.

Watching this trailer, we’re into it.

Look for results in limited release starting May 29th.

It’s a trend now that big music and arts festival have a solid comedy line-up and we’re definitely on board for that.

Plenty of .gifs of both Mr. Show and With Bob and David side by side with the same cast members are going to be made.

Paul F. Tompkins, Brian Posehn, John Ennis, Jay Johnston, Mark Rivers and Dino Stamatopoulos have rejoined Bob Odenkirk and David Cross in their new sketch series With Bob and David at Netflix (that also includes one behind the scenes special).

Going off the idea that Bob and David are ex-Navy SEALs for this new series, it now makes us curious if Paul, Brian, John, Jay, Mark and Dino will also all be ex-Special Forces.

“The Simpsons” Will Have All The Girls From “Girls” Guest Star

April 16, 2015

It’s not going to be a crossover episode, but we’d surprise if there weren’t any nods or references to HBO’s Girls in the upcoming episode.

Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke will all stay together like they do on Girls in an episode of The Simpsons where they all are guest starring.

The separation between their Girls characters and these characters only seems to be that Dunham’s character will be a pharmacist and they’re in Springfield and not Brooklyn.

After this, anyone think that there will be an episode of Girls where, at the very least, this episode of The Simpsons will be playing in the background?

The shows will receive awards at a ceremony on May 31st hosted by Fred Armisen.

Fusion and Fuse Now Have Late Night Talk Shows Not Hosted by White Guys

April 16, 2015
Uncategorized
alicia menendez, come here & say that, fuse, fusion, white guy talk show

Even though the landscape of late night has had a vast changing of the guard recently, white men still make up the overwhelming majority of late night hosts.

However, the tide is changing as Larry Wilmore hosts The Nightly Show, Trevor Noah is set to replace Jon Stewart, Chelsea Handler is coming back with a show on Netflix next year, and Grace Helbig, though she goes on air in primetime, just premiered her own talk show.

Niche cable networks Fusion and Fuse are betting that things are going to keep changing and have just debuted their new late talk shows “Come Here & Say That with Alicia Menendez” and “White Guy Talk Show” respectively.

Now, you might not have heard of Alicia Menendez or the hosts of the ironically titled White Guy Talk Show, Saurin Choksi and Grace Parra. Menendez has a background in traditional news media and co-hosting a talk show is Choski and Parra’s first big TV gig.

So, even beyond choosing something outside of a white guy to host their late night talk show, both Fuse and Fusion made an even less traditional choice, (usually an established comedian that’s been on TV more than a few times) with their hosts, which will prove prudent or not in the coming weeks. That’s especially true since both shows are weeknights as opposed to weekly like Last Week Tonight.

Seeing how crowded late night has become (that includes parodies of late night like The Eric Andre Show and Comedy Bang! Bang!), we can only the uphill battle Come Here & Say That and White Guy Talk Show have in front of them. Carving out their niche and gaining a following is going to involve more than just offering a different perspective.

Like James Corden has done with The Late Late Show, they’ve got to make us want to tune in every night, or in the case of the Internet, whenever we want to kill time.

SNL, Last Week Tonight, Inside Amy Schumer, and Transparent make into Time.

Alongside Kanye West and Hillary Clinton, John Oliver, Lorne Michaels, Amy Schumer, and Jill Soloway are on Time’s annual list the 100 Most Influential People around the world.

Like this morning’s announcement for the Peabody Awards (where Last Week Tonight and Inside Amy Schumer also are getting honored), it’s another example where comedy is coming up in the world in a big way.

Conan O’Brien and Jon Stewart are also set to be profiled and interviewed on the show.

Already, host David Steinberg is setting to chat one-on-one with Stephen Colbert, Michael Keaton, and Dan Aykroyd about comedy in the 4th season of Showtime’s Inside Comedy.

Both late night heavyweights O’Brien and Stewart should make for a pretty interesting season especially given how in-depth Steinberg gets with his interviews and now that the next era of late night has been pretty much set and off to its start.

Check out the season premiere on May 5th.

“Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro” Premieres Tonight

Though it might not be your home, Tig Notaro and Jon Dore went to homes across America and performed in possibly the most intimate way you could do a comedy show for this Showtime special.

Tonight at 9PM, “Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro” is premiering on Showtime. Like so many of her performances, we’re sure that all of these are unforgettable and will have the added silliness of going to where people live to do live comedy.

Again, don’t miss out the premiere at 9PM on Showtime.
