Thank Goodness Jess Lane and Lee Rubenstein’s ‘Queer Bones’ Beat Reality TV to a Show About Otherworldly Novelty Shops

Comedians Jess Lane and Lee Rubenstein have made a great spot on reality TV parody in her new web series, “Queer Bones”. Following a store of the same name selling novelty items from other dimensions with the very funny Margot Leitman , we’re all in luck this is just a made up satire of a thing that we can laugh at instead of an alternative programming executive giving an oddities store their own show.

This Better Be Funny Ep. 64 with Cornell Reid

This Better Be Funny Ep. 64 with Cornell Reid

This week’s This Better Be Funny is with Cornell Reid!

Finally, after a two-week-completely-unplanned hiatus, Jake and Jeremy are back to business as usual with This Better Be Funny with this week’s hysterical guest Cornell Reid (The Comedy Garage). Of course, by “business as usual”, what’s meant is suggesting South Central LA isn’t that dangerous to walk around, saying things that, heard out of context, would be bizarre at best to real strangers walking by as an example, and discussing the finer points of “pathetic loser” etiquette of placing dollars on the stage at a strip club. It’s good to be back, no matter how many unsuspecting pedestrians they seemingly creeped out, which is kind of hard to do in a hip place like Echo Park.

There’s No Charge For John Roy’s Online Stand-Up Comedy Class

March 19, 2013
Uncategorized
comedy class, free, john roy

There’s plenty of hate on stand-up comedy classes, especially for the money they cost that ultimately will not let you skip open mics, but hilarious, veteran comedian John Roy (you’ve might have seen him be great on Conan or his AST Record taping) has thankfully circumvented the cost leaving just valuable lessons in starting out in stand-up comedy.

Over the last month or so, he has been writing what would basically make up the text book for a comedy class and posting it on his Tumblr weekly. This still won’t let you skip open mics, but it’s great advice from a great comedian that you can take at your own pace and you didn’t pay a month’s rent for, so you might want to check it out if you’re interested in trying/doing stand-up.

Here’s links to John Roy’s Entirely Free Comedy Class Week One–Week Two–Week Three–Week Four–Week Five

Also, they have Cedric Yarbrough singing the jingle/theme, so enjoy that.

Looks Like Enlightened Might Become One of Those Cult Hits on DVD After HBO Just Cancelled It

Incredibly low ratings seem to be the case for the axe here, but we wonder, especially with how fiercely loyal Enlightened’s fanbase was as well as the loads of critical praise, how the show would have done in a few years when TV ratings have fully integrated watching online.

If fans of Veronica Mars can demand a movie and get one, and Arrested Development go on Netflix, and so on and so forth, maybe something will happened for Enlightened.
