Brian Regan Notches Another Letterman Set
There’s a reason Brian Regan has done Letterman over 20 times. Watch his latest set on the Late Show and see why.
There’s a reason Brian Regan has done Letterman over 20 times. Watch his latest set on the Late Show and see why.
Though almost all late night segments are produced to a degree, it does makes sense that Marc Maron gets really personal, as he did on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and delves into sexual proclivities.

Both landmark comedy club The Purple Onion in San Francisco and longtime Conan character performer Brian McCann are ending their runs. While it’s unfortunate that this marks the ends of eras as Phyllis Diller used to regularly play there and McCann has been with Conan way back when it was Late Night with Conan O’Brien, you can get nostalgic.
Try remembering Zach Galifianakis Live at the Purple Onion, Preparation H Raymond, and more.

This ought to prove to be one hell of a WTF! Podcast episode as James Adomian, who has a really great impression of Marc Maron, especially of what Maron would be like in space, is the guest on Monday’s WTF.
Admittedly, we’ve been wondering when Adomian and Maron would get together given both comedians’ comedy podcasting celebrity and the fact that very few other people do an impression of Marc Maron regularly on stage and pull it off.
By far one of the more hilariously bizarre trailers we’ve seen this year, This Must Be The Place has Sean Penn starring in what might be one his most memorable roles. He is a retired rock star that definitely takes style cues from Robert Smith from The Cure, then goes on a journey after his father’s death to find his father’s Nazi persecutor.
This is one of the few instances where we would love to see how this movie was pitched and subsequently greenlit, then got a U.S. release on Nov. 2nd. Watch the trailer now.

Bob Einstein, who some of you might know as Super Dave or George Bluth’s Sr. surrogate on Arrested Development, has one of the more entertaining episodes of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Taking helm of the show himself for a few minutes, getting out of the car and walking for a bit, and asking where he ranks on the best guest list of the show, Einstein offers up a great example of the best parts of comedians hanging out with comedians.
Doug Stanhope Outdoes Chris Hansen When Baiting Pedophiles
Doug Stanhope found a site that points out pedophiles looking for cyber sex in order to harass the shit out of them. Of course, Stanhope took the route of pretending to be a 13 year old girl with no feet, etc.
Enjoy your Labor Day, everyone.

Here’s a picture of James Adomian impersonating Marc Maron doing Set List: The Improvised Stand-Up Show at this year’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival. That’s how brilliant Adomian is since he is able to improvise while impersonating and killing.

Today is a great day for comedy as both hysterical people Brent Weinbach and Rob Delaney have released about of an hour of material as an album/special in “Mostly Live” and “Live at the Bowery Ballroom”, respectively. Buying both will cost you less than an Andrew Jackson, so we hope you didn’t overestimate your budget for the Labor Day Weekend so you can afford hours and hours worth of joy and laughter.
Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa Absolutely To Be Funded By Kickstarter
In fact, this project, which some of you might know is being produced by Dan Harmon, Dino Stamatopoulos, Duke Johnson, and Rosa Tran, asked for $200,000 over the course of about two months and is now currently just under $330,000 pledged at Kickstarter. Also, there’s still 5 days to donate.
How this isn’t a bigger story (i.e. a crowdfunded stop motion animation movie by some of the most admired creative minds today is well on its way to being made) written about everywhere in the blogosphere is beyond us.
Believe it or not, an organization as big as the WGA takes submissions for their awards. Granted, the projects have to pretty much be made with a WGA collective bargaining agreement and a few other additional rules (i.e. if submitting for original screenplay, the film must have been made and screened theatrically in LA or NYC for a week).
Still, they’re taking submissions for New Media (i.e. web series/videos), which should hopefully highlight of the hilarious content that lives on the web. We’re not sure where podcasts fall into along these lines, especially since only a handful of them are even completely written, but this is another step towards comedy online getting the respect it deserves.
The LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival is Now Calling For Submissions
We attended this year’s LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival, which were thoroughly impressed by and glad to find out they just opened submissions for next year. You can submit web videos and scripts/screenplays and there’s a whole lot less restrictions on who and what guidelines you’ll have to follow and we highly suggest that, if you have a comedy short or script to enter here, do so now soon.

The 5 Most Intentionally Funny Videos This Week 9/4
This is this week’s pick for The 5 Most Intentionally Funny Videos This Week over at The Nerdist. Colbert, Sean Penn, Dominic Dierkes, and more made the list this time around, but, as always, the 5 MIFV takes submissions every week so long as you follow the guidelines at the link.
To promote his just released special Live at the Bowery Ballroom, Rob Delaney has teamed up with YouTube’s Official Comedy to do a series of promotional videos that, of course, have Delaney’s brand of humor all over of it. This one just has his wife dead silent the entire time as Delaney suggests other things you can do with the special besides watching it.
Also, catch Rob Delaney on Conan tonight TBS 11PM.

In the wonderful California coastal town San Luis Obispo, well within in a day’s drive of LA, they have a comedy festival once a year. They’re accepting submissions for stand-up for next year’s festival in March all the way until Sun. Jan. 6th.
We suppose this is the season for comedy festival submissions.

Rob Delaney made his Conan debut last night in complete Delaney style as he talked about his preference for hairy women and subsequent noises their bodies make, which made actress Lauren Graham who was sitting next to him laugh and cringe enough for the show to cut to her reactions. Also, any mention of Delaney suing Kim Kardashian for her sham marriage is always fun to hear.
Serial Optimist Has a Magazine Which Features a Lot of Comedy We Love
Yes, we do write for Serial Optimist (we do a monthly round-up of comedy news), but that doesn’t mean that you should write off our recommendation of reading the Serial Optimist Magazine as biased. There’s plenty of great features and articles about music, fashion, and, of course, comedy (especially comedy we love like Kyle Kinane, Eddie Pepitone, Kurt Braunohler, and more.
Also, we made a list of the 10 albums/specials we really loved this year so far (keep in mind we wrote that list almost a month ago).
So, just click to a digital copy and give it a read already.
Comedians Walking & Getting Mani-Pedis-sound familiar? Sandra Bernhard and Lizz Winstead both enjoy a day out in Manhattan and getting their nails done without a classic car and any caffeinated beverages/diner specials.
Comedy Central’s Mash-Up hosted by TJ Miller isn’t set to debut until Wed. Oct. 9th 12:30AM, but the first clips of the show were just uploaded to further whet your appetite for the highly anticipated stand-up/sketch TV show hybrid.
You can see the mix of stand-up and a re-enactment of it in two TJ Miller bits or see a “word mash-up” of SWAT-o-Tune. More clips are up over here and if that hasn’t whetted your appetite at all, then we’re just going to assume that you really like fasting (in this metaphor fasting = not laughing)
