As part of (RED)’s campaign to ensure an AIDS free generation, they’ve enlisted Dan Harmon & Justin Roiland, the genius creators of Rick and Morty, to offer up a role as the voice of an alien overlord in a brand new episode in the forthcoming season of Rick and Morty as a potential prize.

All you have to do is spend $10 at Omaze.com/rickandmorty and you’ll be in the running.

Watch Dan and Justin fill all of us in with the details, quickly drawn illustrations included.

By the way…

“Every entry of $10 or more supports (RED)’s fight for an AIDS FREE GENERATION. Double your impact—the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match it up to $20 million.”

Ghostbusters Now Included in the National Film Registry

(via Variety)

Not that it was going to be an issue, but Egon (played by the late Harold Ramis) will definitely not be forgotten now.

The National Film Registry is an archive kept by the Library of Congress to ensure specific films within the cinematic canon are especially preserved as their significance to the art of film cannot be emphasized enough.

So, the original Ghostbusters, released in 1984, has just made the cut along side a film by one of film’s very first innovators, Eadweard Muybridge and will live on in perpetuity in one of country’s highest regarded collections.

Perhaps, Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, for the potential cultural milestone it’s set to make, might make it in there as well?

From The Spirit of Ratliff EP, Connor Ratliff and Mikey Erg present a pleasantly out-of-left-field Christmas song with an equally delightfully out-of-left-field music video, No One Wants a Pizza on Xmas Day.

The Spirit of Ratliff and It’s a Holiday Soul Party by Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings should be all the holiday music you need this season.

Larry Wilmore to host White House Correspondents’ dinner https://t.co/d0YB7VkUEH

It’s exciting to see Larry Wilmore get to fire off jokes in the biggest political comedy arena as the host of next year’s White House Correspondents Dinner with some of D.C.’s most powerful in attendance, especially because he delves into political comedy on a nightly basis at The Nightly Show as opposed to last year’s host, Joel McHale.

This will also be President Obama’s last year doing The White House Correspondents Dinner, which makes us believe that arguably one of the funniest U.S. Presidents ever has one of his best performances saved for last.

As part of making the rounds to promote his new Netflix series F Is For Family, Bill Burr stopped by The Tonight Show and chatted with Jimmy Fallon while surrounded by a plethora of Christmas paraphernalia.

Of course, Bill Burr couldn’t just let that slide on by and went on his signature hysterical rants.

He also gave some very intriguing backstory as to how his animated series F Is For Family came about, which premieres this Fri. Dec. 18th on Netflix.

Hopefully, Jimmy makes good on his promise of having Bill back on the holidays.

Over 20 years ago, humorist, writer, and famed host of A Prairie Home Companion, Garrison Keillor sat down with another famed writer in George Plimpton and had a chat at NYC’s 92Y.

Of the things they discussed, the topic of humor brought some keen observations out of Keillor and that particular part of the interview was animated for PBS Digital’s Blank on Blank series.

Trailer for Season 2 of “Man Seeking Woman” Promises More Metaphorical Craziness

The conceit of FXx’s Man Seeking Woman is that all the metaphors that people compare every aspect of love, dating, marriage, relationships, etc. actually come to life making for some pretty trippy scenes that really resonate with folks.

Season 2, while it has a new arc with the main character Josh, is making good on that dynamic, which will include a horny Santa.

Watch all of this in the red band trailer here, then look for the premiere on FXx on Wed. Jan. 6th.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are continuing the uphill battle of having their movie, Sisters, open on the same weekend as Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Enlisting Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer to be in a faux promo that really should be another movie all on its own (because who wouldn’t want to go see a movie with Abbi, Ilana, Tina, and Amy?) is definitely a good move.

David Cross Set to Go on Nationwide “Making America Great Again!” Tour in 2016

One of the dates will be on the opening night of Riot LA.

It has been quite some time since we’ve seen the force that is David Cross on stage with a mic. In fact, his last tour was all the way back in 2009. Since then, he’s appeared on stage here and there between Arrested Development, Todd Margaret, Hits, With Bob & David, and a multitude of other projects he has been involved in over the last several years.

That being said, he’s going on a tour and doing his duty as a comedian by trolling Donald Trump while he’s at it. Called the Making America Great Again! (which is Donald’s campaign slogan in case you haven’t watched TV or been on the Internet at all in the last few months) tour, Cross will travel across the U.S. and perform from January of next year through April.

Specific dates and cities have yet to be announced, but the one show that you can buy tickets for is the very first night of the Riot LA Comedy Festival on Fri. Jan. 29th at 8PM where David will be playing the Theatre at the Ace Hotel.

What is now known as ‘Untitled Nicole Byer Project’ is one of MTV’s latest new scripted comedy series. It’ll follow Nicole Byer living in the suburbs with her sister and her four children after burning down her own apartment in NYC.

No matter what it ends up being called, we’re really glad to see Byer has her own series.

Take a Look at the Comedies in the 2015 Black List

December 15, 2015
Uncategorized
2015, francis and the godfather, lucia aniello, paul downs, screenplays, the black list, wretched emily erringer

The Black List comprises the screenplays that have made the rounds that have been favored by industry brass and yet, have not begun production this year. As a result, it’s a collection of some of the most intriguing scripts that haven’t been made into a movie including, as far as comedy is concerned, a teen serial killer comedy and the story behind the making of The Godfather, and a screenplay from Broad City writing duo Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello.

Just take a look at the rest of the comedies in this year’s Black List:

Reagan written by Mike Rosolio

Logline: When Ronald Reagan falls into dementia at the start of his second term, an ambitious intern is tasked with
convincing the commander-in-chief that he is an actor playing the president in a movie.

Septillion to One written by Adam Perlman and Graham Sack

Logline: A former FBI agent working the fraud unit of the Texas State lottery falls in love with a woman he’s
investigating after she mysteriously hits the jackpot three times.

Hammerspace written by Mike Van Waes
Logline: A terminally-ill teenager looking for answers about his missing father finds a key that unlocks an opening to an
alternate animated dimension, and a new friend helps him repair his broken family.

The Wretched Emily Erringer written by Chris Thomas Devlin

Logline: Gleefully terrifying her small town as a serial killer known as “The Misfit Butcher,” 13-year-old Emily Derringer
becomes annoyed when a new killer comes to town and residents begin attributing his sloppy murders to the
Misfit Butcher. In a macabre coming of age story, Emily must deal with her competition while also taking on
the other trials and tribulations of junior high school life.

Pandemonium, Splendidly Managed written by Brett Conrad

Logline: A local Phoenix newscaster at the pinnacle of local celebrity slowly descends into the depths of madness
while trying to become a game show host in Los Angeles.

Cut and Run, written by Zoe McCarthy

Logline: A female urologist and a retired hooker form an unlikely friendship when they team up to take down a notorious
sex trafficker in Miami.

Move That Body written by Lucia Aniello and Paul W Downs

Logline: Five friends rent a beach house in Miami for a bachelorette weekend and accidentally kill a male stripper.

Set It Up written by Katie Silberman

Logline: Two young assistants realize they can get more free time if they occupy their bosses’ time by setting them
up on a date.

Tomorrow on the Runway written by Frederick Seton

Logline: Kermit St. Lucy has a ridiculous name and is ridiculously ill-equipped to deal with adult responsibilities. After
a tragedy shakes him to his essence, Kermit takes it upon himself to look after and raise two young children

A Life Fantastic written by Natalie Antoci

Logline: A single mother with a terminal diagnosis embarks on a road trip with her eccentric nine-year-old son and
nanny to find a loving and progressive family that will accept him for whoever he may grow up to be.

Lou written by Maggie McGowan Cohn

Logline: An elderly woman who hacks out a rough existence on a remote island is forced to help her dimwitted neighbor
rescue her daughter from her ex who has kidnapped her and run off into the woods.

Preconception written by Jake Morse and Scott Wolman

Logline: A couple on the verge of parenthood embarks on a pre-baby bucket list.

Senior Year written by Andrew Knauer and Arthur Pielli

Logline: A cheerleader wakes up after a twenty year coma and returns to sit at the cool table and try to become
prom queen, as a thirty seven year-old woman.

Francis and The Godfather written by Andrew Farotte

Logline: Facing financial ruin, auteur filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola is forced to direct the adaptation of Mario Puzo’s
pulp novel The Godfather, pitting him against legendary mega-producer Robert Evans in this comedy about
art versus commerce.

To see the entire Black List, which includes a Michael Jackson drama told from the perspective of Bubbles the chimp, go here.

Our apologies if we missed a comedy in the list as genre is generally not specified in the listings.

No matter if you agree with the random people in this trailer on whatever they’re talking about, you should catch the premiere of season 7 of Childrens Hospital on Fri. Jan. 22nd. at 11PM on Adult Swim.

Trainwreck, Spy, Transparent, You’re The Worst Are All Comedy Nominees for 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards

The Big Short, though debatable as to whether it’s a comedy, is getting plenty of love this awards season as a comedy. That being said, Paul Feig’s Spy, Stephen Falk’s You’re The Worst, Trainwreck with Amy Schumer, Aziz Ansari’s Master of None, Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s BoJack Horseman, and Will Forte’s Last Man on Earth, getting nods from The Critics Choice are much appreciated.

As you’d expect, Transparent from Jill Soloway continues to be an awards nominations powerhouse, but it’s also a pleasant surprise to see Rachel Bloom for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan’s Catastrophe, the movie Dope, and The Late Late Show with James Corden.

John Oliver and the team at Last Week Tonight has a solid solution for at least one crisis in this country that we can manage.

FYI, be on the lookout for which camp is mentioned when there’s a camp joke since Last Week Tonight segments have their own so-called ‘easter eggs’.

Watch it here.
