Here’s a Teaser of “Harmonquest”, Harmon’s Live Action Gameplay/Animated Reenactment D&D  Series, Coming to Seeso This Summer

Dan Harmon’s Dungeons & Dragons sessions, that have been their own live show as well as part of his podcast Harmontown featuring Spencer Crittenden and guests who may be more or less acquainted with D&D, is getting its own show on Seeso.

Harmonquest will not only feature the riff-filled version of D&D with the likes of really funny people joining in the journey, but will also have great animated reenactments to accompany the game as the story unfolds.

Here’s a preview with Paul F. Tompkins as one of the guests that shows how great this concept really is.

Look for Harmonquest to start streaming on Seeso starting Thursday, July 14th.

Paul F. Tompkins Says That “No, You Shut Up!” Has Been Cancelled After 3 & 1/4 Seasons

We’re not sure exactly why Fusion is pulling the plug on this show, but we’re sad to see No, You Shut Up! with Paul F. Tompkins get the ax.

According to this blog post, NYSU host Paul F. Tompkins got the call that Fusion has just officially cancelled the show.

For our money, No, You Shut Up! was a jewel in their programming line-up and we have a hard time imagining what sort of show would fill in this slot.

For now, you can watch a giant archive and enjoy the 3 & ¼ seasons on YouTube.

Get Brian Moote’s Debut Comedy Album “Artsy?” Out Now

Brian Moote’s debut comedy album Artsy? has been in, our opinion, a long time coming. Moote is one of those nomadic comedians that splits plenty of time between different cities that they call home and doing the road and has the comedic chops to warrant that much traveling. Thus, we’re thrilled that he finally has an hour of stand-up on record.

The album is filled with personal stories that Brian has carefully honed into structurally sound bits. He also has a charming stage presence that lasts for days on end and a good eye for highlighting those small details that make his material

Check it out for yourself by getting a copy of Artsy? from Rooftop Comedy.

His goal has been realized to its fullest potential and, as a bonus, it’s going to premiere on HBO.

Quincy Jones: Burning the Light premieres on Thursday, June 2nd at 10PM on HBO and you can your first preview of it right here.

Watch Obama and Larry Wilmore from Last Night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner

As it was President Barack Obama’s last White House Correspondents’ Dinner, he made sure that people were going to remember, among several things, that he was the funniest Commander-in-Chief in recent memory.

A mic drop, and several sharply written and delivered barbs, just the right amount of Trump jokes made for about a solid half hour of stand-up for Obama.

Larry Wilmore, at the start of his set, mentioned the notable task at hand of following President Obama (which has been the case for pretty much every WHCD during Obama’s administration by the way), and worked his way up to a solid finish (that included dropping the N-word, which has to be a C-SPAN first).

However, the current field of presidential hopefuls, when it comes to slinging roast jokes at the WHCD, will probably have a much harder time than Larry trying to follow Obama.

UK’s Jack Whitehall Continues To Nicely Make His Way Through American Late Night on “Tonight Show”

In the UK, Jack Whitehall has amassed quite the following and, as such, is trying to make headway on this side of the pond.

He’s already got a late night appearance on Corden, and now, he has just performed his first stand-up set on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

From the sound of those applause breaks, Whitehall might be well on his way to growing a U.S. fanbase

President Obama’s Last White House Correspondents’ Dinner Is Tonight

Uncategorized

Also, Larry Wilmore is hosting, which should make for one hell of a night.

President Barack Obama might be the funniest president that has ever taken the podium at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. This particularly insane election year should also make this an extra special WHCD  and certainly provides plenty of material for President Obama and Wilmore (who is more than ready for this with his time at The Daily Show and his own The Nightly Show).

That being said, his final appearance/address/set/roast is tonight that will be broadcast live on C-SPAN. According to this handy guide from Washington Post, coverage starts at 3PM PST/6PM EST with a dinner at 4:30PM PST/7:30PM EST, the the POTUS and Wilmore will start somewhere between 6:45PM-7:15PM PST/9:45PM-10:15PM EST.

For those of you who don’t want to find what channel C-SPAN is on, you can livestream the whole thing at C-SPAN.org, MSNBC.com, and washingtonpost.com. CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC will also be providing coverage.

We’re sure they’ll note the absence of presidential candidate Donald Trump plenty.

Nick Kroll’s Sigmund Freud Fixes the Relationship Between Dan and Spencer on “Great Minds”

If you’ve been watching Great Minds with Dan Harmon on History channel’s Night Class, you’ve might have noticed that the relationship between Dan and Spencer Crittenden, who is solely responsible for the time travel that makes possible, is tenuous at best.

Luckily, their latest guest is none other than the legendary psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, as played by Nick Kroll who gets to analyze their relationship, albeit in a very Freudian, psychosexual manner.

See if Kroll’s Freud is able to fix their relationship all the way in 2016.

Fusion Partners with The Onion to Develop Weekly “A.V. Club” Series

April 29, 2016

(via Deadline)

We’re intrigued to see how much satire or snark versus genuine coverage gets put on this show.

Since Univision owns Fusion outright now and also now has controlling stake in The Onion, it would only seem natural for the two properties to collaborate given their focus on a specific niche of millennials. The idea that No, You Shut Up with Paul F. Tompkins and an A.V. Club weekly series being on the same network makes sense.

So, that is what is going to happen.

The Onion’s almost non-satirical pop-culture off-shoot, The A.V. Club, is getting its own weekly show developed for Fusion, which will take on pop culture, music, etc. with that clever edge that they’ve honed for years.

We’ll find out if they’ll be able to translate their Internet credibility to Fusion soon.

Last week, W. Kamau Bell had the premiere of his CNN series, United Shades of America. This week, Bell continues his big return to TV with a brand new hour stand-up special on Showtime called Semi-Prominent Negro.

At least this week, he’ll be in the safety of a theater as opposed to hanging with KKK without a total idea of what might happen.

Conan’s Latest Edition of Clueless Gamer Adds Frat-Like Stakes of Getting Your Face Drawn On by Seth Rogen and Zac Efron

To live up to the Greek life depicted in Neighbors 2, stars Seth Rogen and Zac Efron challenge Conan O’Brien to several rounds of Mario Kart 8 with the prospect of the loser’s face getting drawn on.

Fortunately, Conan had standards and practices at TBS send over a guide as to what wouldn’t get blurred or pixelated when opting to draw certain parts of the male anatomy on a face. That way, Conan’s beautiful visage wouldn’t get blurred no matter how demeaning the drawings on his face were.

Will Ferrell Is Actually Not Playing Ronald Reagan in “Reagan”

April 29, 2016
Uncategorized

(via Deadline)

Apparently, Will Ferrell was never officially attached to the movie.

The Mike Rosolio script that followed President Ronald Reagan in his years after his administration and was struck with dementia does not have anyone cast as Ronald Reagan. Despite the Internet, including us, echoing that Will Ferrell would have been played two presidents on camera, Ferrell had only considered the project, but never signed on.

Now, this leaves us wondering where the script stands in the development process (especially since Reagan family members are not too happy about the whole thing) and who they’ll get to play Ronald Reagan. No matter who they end up casting, odds are controversy between the Reagans and this movie will continue for quite some time.

We have a feeling that the latest comedy special that will be coming to Netflix might be a hell of a good one as it is an hour long stand-up special from the fantastic Ali Wong.

What might make it extra special aside from it being a “special” is that she dissects about becoming a mom and everything connected to that while pregnant.

Called Baby Cobra, it starts streaming on Friday, May 6th.

You can see a bit of what Ali has cooked up in this preview.

New animated shorts are set to start airing on May 9th at 8:30AM.

Boomerang, which has been known to play classic cartoons under the umbrella of Cartoon Network, will be getting an injection of new programming starting with this new set of animated Peanuts “vignettes”.

The shorts have been made over the last couple of years and already aired in Europe by French animation studio Normaal Animation. They have a license to made Peanuts cartoons, but we’re curious how it will continue the spirit of Charles M. Schulz’s legacy going.

It’s appropriately titled Infinity Baby.

Now, we’re not sure exactly why babies stay 3-months old in director’s Bob Byington’s latest film, but it sure is intriguing. Having Kieran Culkin (who, we think, still needs a breakout role after his scene stealing work in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) all those years ago and comedy power couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally really has our interest peaked.

At least some parents will get their wishes to have babies forever and maybe discover that wasn’t such a great idea?

So, she is recording her very first album next month and we think you ought to go see how much of a delight she is for yourself.
