While the title is timely, John Roy handcrafted a pretty sweet hour with his latest album Everything’s Burning.

Roy’s pinpoint observations on the world and himself are distilled to their purest essence and dripped for all their worth. Also, John’s execution is, as it has been for quite some time, flawless as well.

This album, if anything, gives a nice break from seeing everything burning. Get a taste of it here.

Get Everything’s Burning from AST Records as a poster by the amazing Barry Blankenship w/download code or on iTunes.

Kidnapping gone wrong hasn’t looked this fun in quite some time.

Of course, the added element of ‘kidnapping/abduction fantasy’ in the upcoming film Take Me gives a fresh twist to a well worn plot device.

Thus, star and director Pat Healy, co-star Taylor Schilling, and writer Mike Makowsky offer up what’s to be a rollicking dark comedy.

See for yourself in this trailer, then look for its release on Friday, May 5th.

‘Will & Grace’ Revival Extended to 12 Episodes

Orginally, 10 episodes of the revived Will & Grace, complete with the original cast and creators returning, had been ordered.

Now, NBC has ordered two extra episodes ever getting closer to a full season order. Honestly, if the cast’s schedule permits, don’t be surprised if there are episodes ordered on the back end.

RIP Don Rickles, 1926-2017

Uncategorized

As reported by Deadline, Don Rickles, an institutional pillar in pantheon of comedy passed away at the age of 90 in his home from kidney failure.

Known as Mr. Warmth, Don was a beloved comedian by audiences from so many different walks of life, which is so impressive considering that his humor is all about quick insulting zingers. In fact, it was considered an honor to be dressed down by Rickles and many comedians would even try to meet him just to roasted by Don to their face.

Comedy and, more specifically, the idea of comedic roasting wouldn’t be what it is today without Don and he will be dearly missed. We’re betting that his upcoming series that was going to have celebrity and comedian guests have dinner with him will probably get scrapped, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In any case, go binge watch and read up all that you can of Rickles and be amazed how he sustained being so damn funny to so many people over his entire career.

The third season, having had its run in the UK, is now set to start streaming here in the U.S. on Amazon Prime on Friday, April 28th.

Iliza Shlesinger to Get Her Own Weekly Late Night Show on Freeform

Well, late night is really getting shaken up this week.

Comedy Central announced the addition of two late night series, The President Show with Donald Trump as played by Anthony Atamanuik and a Daily Show companion series hosted by Daily Show correspondent Jordan Klepper.

Also, Fox News just cancelled its own late night comedy series Red Eye.

On top of all of that, Iliza Shlesinger is getting her own weekly late night show on cable network Freeform called Truth & Iliza. She’ll be focused on a specific theme with each episode, then have segments, field pieces, etc. go from there.

Truth & Iliza is set to premiere on Tuesday, May 2nd at 10PM.

If you take a look at the late night landscape, it’s getting bigger than ever since more of cable has joined the fray with options diverting far from the traditional late night talk show format.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Desus & Mero, Throwing Shade, and more offer a stark contrast to Fallon, Colbert, Kimmel, Corden, and Meyers on broadcast networks.

The three newly announced late night shows with Iliza, Klepper, and Atamanuik are sure to add to that growth.

“Louis C.K. 2017″ Is Now Streaming at Netflix

If you’ve been kind of let down this year by certain big time comedians’ specials, we’re pretty sure Louis C.K.’s latest stand-up special will put a smile on your face.

Update 11/12/17: Well, this is probably not the case anymore since Louis CK has admitted to numerous claims of sexual misbehavior over the years.

Louis C.K. 2017 is his latest hour and just started streaming today at Netflix. From it, we witnessed C.K. melding his absurdist tendencies and dissections of his personal life to a pretty perfect mixture.

Even though he is donning a very fancy suit rather than a plain t-shirt or sweater, C.K. is the most C.K. that we’ve seen yet. He has distilled all elements of his comedy into their purest form for ‘2017′, making for a satisfying special in a year where many high profile comedy releases have been either “OK” or janky at best thus far.

If you’re not already watching it, go watch Louis C.K. 2017 as soon as you can.

This Fall, Jordan Klepper Will Be Getting the 11:30 Companion Slot to The Daily Show

Always trying to keep it in the family when they can, Comedy Central is upping Jordan Klepper from Daily Show correspondent to having his own show right after The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Monday-Thursdays.

Details are sparse at this point, but we hope that Comedy Central leans into Klepper’s exemplary work with his field pieces.

As it stands now, that does mean The President Show with Donald Trump (Anthony Atamanuik), which premieres later this month, will have to either close out its first season/cycle this fall or move to Fridays. We’ll just have to find out in a few months.

Crime shows, both true and fictional, have never been as big as they are now.

So, TNT, which primarily has operated a drama channel that’s chock full of scripted hour long series following detectives, criminal families, etc. is now getting into some true crime comedy.

Their new series debuting this Summer, Claws, shows a lot of promise, almost a darker version of Weeds, set in the world of nail salons with Niecy Nash as the star. Also, we’re excited that the creator, Eliot Laurence, is the writer of the under appreciated, Welcome to Me.

Watch the trailer here, then look for the series premiere on Sunday, June 11th on TNT.
