Here’s the First Teaser for The Dress Up Gang, the TBS Series

One of the more exciting things, for us (and hopefully for you), coming to TBS soon is the new eponymous TV series from The Dress Up Gang.

If you’re a long time fan, this teaser for the TBS series is the newest bit of Dress Up Gang that has been dropped in quite some time. If you’re new to them, please enjoy this little morsel that captures what they do pretty well.

In either case, it’s pretty swell to see TBS is continuing to put money down on their off-kilter brand of comedy.

For a Few Dollars a Month, You Can Help The Comedy Bureau Be More of a Real Bureau Rather Than Just Having a Desk with Tape on It That We Got Off of Craigslist

Yes, this is a real tanker desk we have that we used electrical tape to spell out a sign of sorts.

Help us get to a better place as a fully functioning bureau via Patreon.

What You’ll Get If You Support The Comedy Bureau Patreon

You might have heard that we’ve started this Patreon page in order to live our best life as an actually publicly funded bureau. As with all crowdfunding campaigns, we’ve got rewards on top of providing the invaluable service.

They are as follows (and there are more to come):

TCB “Electricity” Fund-$1 or more per month
You’ll be acknowledged and thanked at official Comedy Bureau meetings for keeping our lights on. Also, you’ll get access to pre-sale tickets to exclusive Comedy Bureau events before anyone else.

TCB “Hat” Fund-$5 or more per month
Support our penchant for hats. For this, you’ll get pre-sale access to Comedy Bureau events and be included on a Comedy Bureau “Digital Wall of Trustees”

TCB “Lunch” Fund-$10 or more per month
Help us be a more legit LA office by letting us order lunch for the office. For that, you get an official sticker of our fancy new logo done by Chris Fairbanks, access to pre-sale for Comedy Bureau events, and included on our “Digital Wall of Trustees”

TCB “Fossil Fuel” Fund-$20 or more per month
We can’t cover comedy like we do by taking the train here in LA, so covering our gas expenses would be a blessing. For that, on top of pre-sale tickets, Digital Wall of Trustees, and a sticker, we’ll send you a fancy, shiny enamel pin of our official logo. Also, if you’re against fossil fuels, you can give us way more money and we can be able to go get a Tesla.

TCB “Step and Repeat” Fund-$40 or more per month
Yet another part of being a legit LA operation is having a “step and repeat”. Helping us out with “that” will get you pre-sale tickets access, sticker, enamel pin, Digital Wall of Trustees and a download of our Comedians of Interest Vol.1 done in collaboration with AST Records.

TCB “Actual Office Space” Fund-$100 or more per month
Little known fact: We are a “mobile” operation. Help us “work a little less” at whatever coffee shop or bar has wifi. For that get everything above, then go on one “ride along” and grab drinks with The Comedy Bureau (availability pending and must be within the Greater LA Area)

TCB “Spy Equipment” Fund-$1,000 or more per month
We are a bureau, but one that just doesn’t have spy equipment. Help us with “that” and you’ll get the rewards above, we’ll personally scout comedy for you with whatever you’re looking for to the best of our very highly regarded abilities.

Also, if we get $9000 pledged monthly, we’ll start a NYC Branch of The Comedy Bureau (it’s probably the #1 thing we get asked about outside of “what are the good mics?).

So, please support The Comedy Bureau on Patreon and you could get a slick looking enamel pin and look slightly more official in the world of comedy.

Kate Willett may work a bit “blue”, but she brings a certain intelligence, craftsmanship, and vulnerability in talking about sexuality on stage that evolve such a simplistic description based on how racy some people might find her material.

She’s sincere and completely willing to dissect her life, including all the peaks and valleys. In that regard, the title for her brand new album “Glass Gutter” is perfect because Kate is set on a mission to ensure equality between genders at all levels no matter if they’re high or low.

Here’s a bit off the album accompanied by a clever reenactment.

You can (and should) get Glass Gutter off of iTunes right now from Rooftop Comedy.

Larry specifically talks about his WHCD speech, how having some haters is good, and paints a clear picture of how being black on TV has progressed in recent years.

Also, there’s something kind of heartening about seeing Wilmore and Desus & Mero all together.

There’s a fine line when dark comedy just because dark. Then, there’s another line where it becomes funny again. The Coen Brothers accomplish such a feat very well as evidenced by several moments in their film Fargo from 1996.

Oren Uziel’s Shimmer Lake, a new upcoming feature film release from Netflix with Rain Willson, Rob Corddry, Benjamin Walker, Wyatt Russell, Ron Livingston, Stephanie Sigman, John Michael Higgins, and Adam Pally seems to hit that chord quite nicely in its first trailer.

If you’re on board, Shimmer Lake starts streaming on Friday, June 9th on Netflix.

Looks Like Netflix Made Another Deal from Twitter by Getting Ellen DeGeneres on Board to Do a Stand Up Special

Netflix tweeted, “Looks like it’s been 15years since you did a stand-up special, @theellenshow. How about one for Netflix?”

Ellen responded, “Let me think about it. Ok I’m in.”

So, there you have it. It would appear that Netflix just started to make a deal for stand-up special that’s probably worth millions of dollars through some tweets. This follows Netflix’s move to develop the buddy comedy starring Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o that started as a fan’s dream vision.

It would appear that if you’re big enough of a deal, you could tweet at Netflix and Netflix will be listening.

Jon Stewart & HBO Agree to Ditch His Digital Animated Series Project for Something Else

Turns out that Jon Stewart was concocting a show where he could, in an animated form, satirize the news on the same day. Pretty cool, huh?

Unfortunately, the news breaks too fast and they couldn’t lock down a workflow that would keep pace with whatever nonsense Trump is causing from hour to hour and both parties have opted to suspend making this project into a reality.

Don’t dismay though. Stewart still has something in the works at HBO that will be announced soon.

The FCC Will Not Fine Stephen Colbert for That Somewhat Explicit Monologue

Finally, this FCC does something we’re on board for.

Despite FCC Chairman Ajit Pai initially brushing off the blowback from Colbert’s comments about Trump in one recent opening monologue, thousands of complaints made them see if there was anything that could be subject to a fine.

Since late night has a little bit more breathing room in regards to content, there was nothing objectionable that the FCC found and they have thus decided to take no action on the matter.

So, we’re going to count this as a win for Colbert, free speech, late night, and, as a whole, comedy.

Comedy Central Just Ordered 7 More Episodes of “The President Show”

This comes at a perfect time as SNL just had its season finale and leaving Anthony Atamanuik, the star of The President Show in playing Trump, in the throne of Trump impersonations. Also, Trump’s scandals are racking up at an unbelievable pace upping the demand to hear late night comedy’s take on it, specifically one with Atamanuik’s version of the POTUS.

By the way, wouldn’t it be great if Trump got impeached and kicked out of The White House through the course of these 7 episodes? Crazier things have already happened from this Administration by the way.
