Set List, the improvised stand-up show, is difficult enough to do as a single comedian as you have to try to find the comedic thread in the moment on stage.
If you had to do that as well as try to follow someone else’s comedic thread too, to pull it off is a feat of mental gymnastics.

The Nerdist Gets New Leadership/Expanding Brand
With the additions of Adam Rymer as President and Jack Herrguth as head of development, Nerdist is poised to start making projects beyond their YouTube channel including more feature length films, half hour comedies, and much much more.
Just think about this: This whole media empire, which arguably has the digital space figured out much better than many networks, started off with just a podcast.
Set to premiere at SXSW, The Harmontown documentary, which follows one of a few select podcasts that could pull off a nationwide tour as well putting together a feature length film on it, finally has a trailer.
Not only does it follow the podcast, but Dan Harmon’s personal journey with his fans, his creations, his battles, and everything else that has made him the trailblazing firebrand that he is.

There is a select group of comedians that riff so wonderfully that doing improvised stand up at Set List for them is almost second nature.

Morgan Murphy’s Comedy Special ‘Irish Goodbye’ Released Digitally/on Netflix Next Week
The damn funny Morgan Murphy is releasing her comedy special Irish Goodbye both for purchase and on Netflix next week, Jan. 21st.
Not only is this a special from Morgan, which should make you already excited, but it was taped at The Nerdmelt Showroom, one of the best venues for comedy in LA.

The 2nd Riot LA Comedy Festival Was The Best Kind of Riot
If you couldn’t be at The Riot LA Comedy Festival this past weekend for some reason (and that list of reasons should be really small), we recapped some of the most amazing things we saw at the festival and will never forget how funny/magical/brilliant/etc. they all were over at The Nerdist.

One of the best to do improvised stand up on Set List is Rich Hall (you should/might know from SNL long ago) for making it seem like it’s almost a normal hilarious stand-up routine and seamlessly injecting crowd work while doing so.

If you take daytime court shows and replace the claims by adult plaintiffs against adult defendants with claims by child versions of that, there’s strangely a very thin line between the two. That’s why Kids Court, the newest series at Nerdist’s YouTube Channel is really funny.
Also, there’s the hysterical Andy Kindler as judge, which makes this even more, pushing this to really damn funny.

Along with No, You Shut Up w/Paul F. Tompkins, there could be a more than welcome trend of traditionally live action shows parodied with a real life host and puppets starting to come around.
Rhys Darby who we hope you know from Flight of The Conchords just started a brand new web series at Nerdist’s YouTube Channel delving into the paranoia of the approaching post-apocalyptic dystopia inevitably creeping towards the present, but, of course, done with a goofy Rhys twist.
Really, the show should be called Reasons to Laugh Hard at Rhys Darby’s Reasons to Be Scared of the Future. Watch the first episode here.
There is so much discontent with the American people of the American government that it wouldn’t be ridiculous to think of them finding loopholes in the by laws to change the system.
Here’s the hilarious Dan Van Kirk showing how that might just happen on his Nerdist web series DVK.
Team Fallon does not disappoint as the king of late night talk show games Jimmy Fallon when bowling against Chris Hardwick and company. This latest episode of Hardwick’s All Star Celebrity Bowling is really inspiring to all of us to step up our bowling trash talk.
It’s always fascinating to see when comedians who base much of their act on diction and delivery as joke craftsmen go up on Set List: The Improvised Stand Up Show with no hours of stage time to hammer out their jokes per their process.
It’s especially fascinating when they can still pull off their comedic stylings in that settings just like Jimmy Carr did at the Soho Theatre with topics like adorable jihad. Watch the clip here.
We don’t know if you’ve ever wondered what Mark Wahlberg looking for his booth at Comic Con would be like, but thanks to the wondrous talents of Dan Van Kirk, we all get to witness how great Markie Mark yelling at his brother Donnie on where the Two Guns booth is.
