Jeffrey Tambor Will Officially No Longer Be Part of ‘Transparent’

Jeffrey Tambor Will Officially No Longer Be Part of ‘Transparent’

Following the internal investigation at Amazon of harassment claims against Tambor, Jill Soloway and Amazon have decided that Tambor’s behavior “could could not be justified or excused under scrutiny,” in a statement to Deadline. Thus, they have decided to sever ties between him and Transparent, the award winning series of which he plays the lead role of Maura Pfefferman.

This is a sign that #MeToo is far from slowing down and the idea that sexual harassment, misbehavior, misconduct, assault, etc. will now have actionable and immediate consequences.

The fate of the show itself has yet to be officially determined, but if they could pull off replacing Kevin Spacey in All The Money in the World with Christopher Plummer, then we’re sure they’ll be able to figure something out.

Season 4 of Transparent Is Now Streaming

Transparent, it can be argued, is the dramedy that put Amazon in contention with streaming giants Netflix and Hulu. Sure, Catastrophe and Fleabag have done wonders for Amazon Studios as well, but Jill Soloway’s series put them immediately in awards contention.

So, one of Amazon’s flagship series sails forth into streaming their fourth season today and looks like it’ll keep going for as long as the show wants.

“Join the celebration. #TransparentTV has been renewed for Season 5.

Amazon Studios very smartly has picked up their critically acclaimed, award winning marquee/flagship/landmark series Transparent from Jill Soloway for its fifth season.

It should be noted that most TV series, in traditional linear TV, would be gunning for syndication at this point and, perhaps, bringing the show to a close.

As streaming services makes the idea of syndication kind of out-dated since you can binge watch the whole series whenever and pretty much wherever you want, the course and duration of a show like Transparent as well as Soloway will likely be followed by several other people making TV moving forward.

Somehow, it would seem that series creator Jill Soloway figures out a way to get more ambitious with Transparent without sacrificing the show’s integrity.

Doing that probably helps with the awards and accolades.

See for yourself in the full season 4 trailer, then look for episodes to start streaming on Amazon Prime on Friday, September 22nd.

The creative heads behind black-ish as well as Transparent and I Love Dick re-upped the lease on the big sandbox that they get play with.

Announced today, Kenya Barris and Jill Soloway just renewed their overall deals. Barris has another 4 years locked in with ABC Studios and Soloway has three more with Amazon.

So, you can imagine that the development slates for both the broadcast network and streaming service will be bending genres, doing well to take care of Hollywood’s representation issues, and being more in the zeigest even more than they currently are doing now.

Jill Soloway has already sealed her throne at Amazon with Transparent and now her next series, I Love Dick, is about to premiere next month.

This new show follows the new found obsession of a married woman played by Kathryn Hahn of Kevin Bacon who plays an alluring, but mysterious professor that her and her husband, played by Griffin Dunne, come to study with.

From this trailer, you can see that Soloway has honed a signature style of cinematic dramedy.

Look for I Love Dick to start streaming on Amazon Prime on Friday, May 12th.

All Three Amazon Comedy Pilots, The Tick, I Love Dick, and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Ordered to Full Series

All Three Amazon Comedy Pilots, The Tick, I Love Dick, and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, Ordered to Full Series

Looks like Amazon might be getting the hang of this streaming service thing or, at the very least, have a better grasp of what they want their programming to be.

Just a few weeks ago, Amazon streamed all their comedy pilots, the aforementioned The Tick, I Love Dick, and Jean-Claude Van Johnson, per their original programming development model that supposedly works in audience votes into the greenlighting decision process.

We’re not sure exactly what made Amazon brass greenlight all three series which cover a wide range of types of comedy (a live action version of The Tick and a new, sexuality subverting series from Jill Soloway almost seem on the opposite ends of the comedy spectrum), but they have indeed ordered full seasons of all three series.

This also includes the meta, detective comedy Jean-Claude Van Johnson starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as himself going undercover.

Just hope it won’t be too long before we can start see the rollout of each of these series.

‘Transparent’ Creator Jill Soloway to Receive Outfest Legacy Visionary Award

There’s no denying that Jill Soloway and her series Transparent has increased normalized visibility of LGBTQ people. For that, the critical acclaim and praise have rolled in, seemingly, right from when Amazon first started streaming the series. That’s in addition to all of her past and present filmography that has always pushed for the LBGTQ community.

It’s a one-of-a-kind of feat that earns Soloway such an honorary award. Then again, Transparent is really good.

It’s only in its third season, but Transparent already carries the distinction of being decorated and critically acclaimed like a show much senior to itself.

Season 3 has just started streaming over Amazon and we don’t doubt that creator Jill Soloway will keep her streak going.

Just see what happens when Gaby Hoffmann’s Ali goes to the dentist.

Key & Peele got a proper send-off for the final season with this Emmy win and what might be talked about as one of Louie Anderson’s best performances of his career in Baskets as the mother nabbed him a statue as well. Also, Master of None’s writing definitely earned its Emmy win here.

Take note of the power of premium cable and streaming services, particularly HBO and Amazon, in this round of winners.

‘Transparent’  Writer Ethan Kuperberg and Creator Jill Soloway Are Developing a Musical Comedy for Amazon

Given the plotline of “a woman’s search for love and self-discovery in Los Angeles,” we’d be curious to see if this musical comedy might have a drastically different take on a musical rom com than the award winning one set 18 miles away in West Covina known as Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Jill Soloway being attached to the project and it being developed at Amazon should allow for the creative room for this project to be something we haven’t ever seen before.

Look for the season 3 of Transparent to start streaming on Amazon Prime on Friday, September 23rd.

Amazon Orders a 4th Season of Transparent Before 3rd Season Even Gets a Premiere Date

It only makes sense that Amazon is continuing to back one of their biggest critical and commercial hits.

Of all of Amazon’s original series and movies, Jill Soloway’s Transparent is the winningest, most talked about, and, very likely, most watched series on Amazon’s exclusive streaming service.

The third season is in the works and premiere date has yet to be determined, but that hasn’t stopped Amazon for ordering another season, which they just announced today.

This also makes Transparent the most senior series in Amazon’s programming line-up as none of their other series have made it to 4 seasons yet.

All three series put an emphasis on giving different perspectives while spinning an award-worthy comedic tale.

Amazon Doubles Down on Jill Soloway and Orders “I Love Dick” Pilot

(via Deadline)

This is a good, common sense move by Amazon Studios.

Jill Soloway is responsible for a good percentage of Amazon’s critical acclaim from her series Transparent. So, it only stands to reason that the online giant would get her working on another project.

This time around, Soloway is adapting a 90s novel called I Love Dick by Chris Kraus, which follows a marriage unraveling, the birth of an artist, and an intriguing professor with the name Dick in the backdrop of Marfa, Texas.

It would seem that TV now has legitimate auteurs and they have more freedom than ever to do what they want because of a certain track record.
