Pick of the Day: Drop In (in NYC) EVERY TUES Starting 2/27

February 16, 2024
News
free comedy, free pizza, free show, nyc comedy, two boots pizza

There is a certain gravity to Two Boots Pizza and comedy. For years, the NYC location has had a stand-up show and there used to be an LA location right next to UCB Franklin.

You’ll be happy to know that the Park Slope, Brooklyn location of Two Boots is once again going to get another free, weekly, stacked stand-up in one of NYC’s more rebellious pizza parlors. This iteration of comedy at Two Boots will be called Drop In and will start on Feb. 27th at 7:30PM with hosts Mia Jackson and Olivia Carter leading off a grand inaugural line-up of:

Frank Conniff (Mystery Science Theater 3000)
Dan Perlman (Flatbush Misdemeanors)
Abbi Crutchfield (Colbert and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee)
Carmen Lagala (Colbert and OFTV)
Josh Gondelman (Emmy Award winning from Last week Tonight and Seth Myers)

Also, they were be a raffle for free pizza (and a limited supply of free Miller Lite).

So, RSVP ALREADY (do so right here) and it would be really nice if you make the $10 suggested donation.

Pick of the Day: Good Heroin with Lindsay Adams and Rob Haze (in LA) 7/16

July 15, 2022
News
comedy show, echo park, free comedy, la comedy, lindsay adams, los angeles, rob haze, stand up comedy

Good Heroin is and has been one of the very best weekly stand-up shows in LA for a very long time. Saturdays at the back patio of Stories has been a destination for comedy fans far and wide as well as those Eastside denizens looking for a splendid evening without having to go too far.

For a good run of the show’s history as a LA comedy staple, it was dutifully hosted by Dave Ross and Matt Ingebretson. When Ingebretson got swept away in the wonderfully dark Corporate on Comedy Central, which he co-created and co-starred in, Dave took on hosting duties solely. In the past several months, Dave has been bi-coastal and sharing hosting duties and the mantle to Good Heroin with LA comedy’s favorite reformed mean girl, Lindsay Adams.

Since Dave has made an official move to NYC, he has officially handed off and kept the Good Heroin name alive with faith placed in its two new co-hosting duo, the aforementioned Lindsay Adams and LA transplant and one of comedy’s most clever minds, Rob Haze. This coming Saturday, Jul. 16th marks Lindsay and Rob’s first Good Heroin (where Rob wasn’t kept as a secret to be revealed) and a start to new era of one of LA’s comedy cornerstone shows.

So, if it being great, free stand-up (w/Jackie Kashian, Jenny Zigrino, Nori Reed, Morgan Jay, Michelle Biloon, Rob Smallwood for 7/16) on a Saturday night at 8 wasn’t enough for you to come down to 1716 Sunset Blvd., we hope this historical moment will be enough to convince you to go (and subsequently keep coming back) to Good Heroin.

Pick of the Day: (The Return of) Peacock @ Club Tee Gee (in LA) 8/26

Thursdays had always been a pretty stacked day for comedy in LA. Pre-lockdown, there were so many really, really good weekly shows of all ilks of comedy to choose from, many of which happened around the 8 o’clock hr.

Many a time, we’d find ourselves at the gorgeous set-up that is Peacock @ Club Tee Gee that had a very nice and tight stand-up show at 8PM. Thankfully, Club Tee Gee, in the heart of Atwater Village, has survived to this side of the pandemic (and is also requiring proof of vaccination to enter) and that very same lovely weekly comedy show, produced by Ali Hart and Becca Rufer, is set to return, this time with two hosts in Kiran Deol and newly minted co-host Danny Jolles. For plenty of reasons that you should go see yourself, we have a good feeling about this hosting pair.

The weekly return of Peacock starts Aug. 26th at 8PM PT. If you dig the show, there’s a $10 suggested donation, but, as long as you’re vaccinated, you can enjoy the show on a shoestring budget. Keep up to date with all things Peacock @peacockshowla on IG.

Though it’s often not included in montages of LA, one of Los Angeles’ most beautiful structures is the pristine Union Station in DTLA. Its Art Deco design calls back to a timeless LA look from decades past, not to mention that it possessing all the charm of a classic train station.

So, wouldn’t it be great to watch comedy with LA’s most lovely train station as the backdrop?

Indeed, there will be a live comedy show next week, Clock Tower Comedy, featuring some of LA’s best in improv, musical comedy, and stand-up. Shamilton, the Hamilton-inspired musical improv show is absolutely one of the top musical comedy shows in LA and the one and only Cameron Esposito is bright, shining, genuine, sharp stand-up comedy luminary.

Best of all, admission is free! Get more details here.

Better Half with Jared Logan and Kara Klenk were the successors to LA’s beloved, long-running Thursday stand-up show The Josh & Josh Show. They opted to relocate to a different day and a different part of town, but we’re happy that they’re back as Jared and Kara are probably one of the funniest comedian power couples that we know.

The new Better Half will now happen on Tuesday’s at Echo Park’s dark, chic (and even a little sexy?) Bar Bandini. This first line-up for their new night/venue is pretty stellar (as was always the case with Better Half).

Swing on by to Bar Bandini next Tuesday for this new Better Half and keep up to date with line-ups here.
