Doug Benson Comes Out on Top in @midnight 2017 Tournament of Champions
In many ways, it would seem as if Doug Benson was made for @midnight. Excelling at quick wordplay and riffing on the Internet has lead to him being one of the go-to competitors for the show and, for 2017, the @midnight champ. Take note that @midnight has been on the air for over 3 years, meaning that they have a deep, deep pool to pull from for this now annual contest.
Benson won this week in the final round of The Tournament of Champions over at Moshe Kasher and Milana Vayntrub.
Paul F. Tompkins has been the only other @midnight Tournament of Champions winner.
It’s rare that a movie that, on paper, had so much potential resulted in the mess that is Collateral Beauty.
For that, the upcoming Doug Benson Movie Interruption at Cinefamily at the end of the month should be an extra special one to attend.
Tickets are still available for $14 here.
The rest of our listings for comedy shows, events, open mics, and maps can be found at www.thecomedybureau.com.
Tonight at midnight, you’ll get to really see how high functioning Doug Benson can be while he is “high as F” and somehow presiding over real court cases.
Watch the series premiere of The High Court with Judge Doug Benson tonight at 12AM on Comedy Central.
In case you were in doubt of Doug Benson making court decisions on actual cases while being, per usual, high, here’s a teaser for the upcoming Comedy Central series The High Court to reassure you that this really happened.
If you look closely, you’ll note that Michael Ian Black, Jessimae Peluso, and Reggie Watts are all guest bailiffs in Benson’s High Court that are also pretty baked as well.
Look for the series premiere of High Court on Monday, February 27th on Comedy Central.
The gigantic (but maybe not on the scale of billions and billions) line-up for the 16th Annual SF Sketchfest has just been announced. This flyer is just scratching the surface of how many great performers are on the bill.
In fact, there are currently over 700 performers that will be in more than 230 shows at 17 different venues over the course of 2 and a half weeks. Even if you’re not in or around San Francisco, it might be worth it to trek to SF to see what’s happening.
SF Sketchfest is set for January 12th-29th, 2017 and you can get tickets right now right here.
Doug Benson deciding on court cases was probably as much as had to be pitched for this to get sold, right?
In the beginning of next year, The High Court will be a 15 minute “strip series” on Comedy Central where one Doug Benson will preside over real small claims court cases and, of course, get high to decide on which side wins.
We’re sure along with his decision, there will be plenty of Benson Interruption style banter during all the trials.
This week, @midnight is “sponsored” by Donald Trump or, rather, Anthony Atamanuik’s killer impression of Trump.
You can see that he does not disappoint in a round of Hashtag Wars with Katee Sackhoff, Natasha Lyonne, and Doug Benson.
It’s becoming an ever more popular trend for big music festivals to have a comedy portion.
The Kaaboo in Del Mar, CA (just north of San Diego) is just doing that with a pretty fantastic, star studded comedy line-up. They’ve even recruited the delightful Taylor Williamson to put together a local comedy showcase.
If you’re in, around, or near Del Mar, you shouldn’t miss this. Get more details and tickets here.
Comedians and their favorite movies meet yet again for Wayne Federman’s 5th International Film Festival at Cinefamily.

The 5th Annual WFIFF goes from Thursday, March 31st to Sunday, April 3rd. Get your tickets here.

On Mon. Mar. 21st at 7:30PM, The latest Doug Benson Movie Interruption at Cinefamily will take on last year’s EDM drama that really existed, We Are Your Friends.
So, enjoy Zac Efron trying to make it as a DJ and Benson and friends make the movie better by riffing throughout the whole thing.
There are still tickets on sale for $14.

Bobcat Goldthwait, Roy Wood Jr., Justin Willman, Doug Benson…
…Andy Erikson, Karen Kilgariff, Mike McCrae, Beth Stelling, Michelle Wolf, and Gina Yashere are all set to headline the 2016 Limestone Comedy Festival in Bloomington, IN from Jun. 2nd-4th.
That’s a pretty swell if you ask us.
Some badges are on sale and you might consider getting in on that here.
Online network JASH is getting into the comedy festival game by throwing their own Jash Fesht on the weekend of Apr. 1st-3rd at Snapshot Studios in Palm Springs.
As you can see, the line-up is nicely stacked between comedy, music, and folks that blur the line of both disciplines.
Tickets are on sale now for $50-$100.
Rather than worry about throwing your own Oscars viewing party, go watch Doug Benson and friends riff on The Oscars telecast at Cinefamily for Doug Benson Watches The Oscars. It’s free to attend, but Cinefamily Black Card members do get priority entry.
The show starts at 5PM this Sunday, Feb. 28th, but there’s a whole potluck and a podcast taping of Dining with Doug & Karen right before starting at 3PM.
All of our other comedy listings are embedded at www.thecomedybureau.com.
When everything’s already feeling pretty amazing when you’re high, any sort of magic will feel legitimately otherworldly.
Doug Benson took Justin Willman to a pot dispensary where it’s a little easier for people to believe in magic (and subsequently easier to pull off a trick) for last night’s Sleight of Mouth special.
How easy is it to pull of a trick off in front of a completely baked person?
We don’t know anyone that’s in bed, fast asleep at 12:30AM on a Monday night. So, with that in mind, you might want to watch the Sleight of Mouth with Justin Willman special premiering right at 12:30AM.
Not only will Willman be doing his slick style of magic and jokes, but the likes of Paul Scheer and Doug Benson will be joining him and we can only imagine what’s going to happen with those two. Will Paul be magically going in and out of a character? Will Justin make Benson make seem like he’s not high? We’ll all have to tune in and see on Comedy Central at 12:30AM tonight.

Comedy Central’s latest special, amidst a slew of great stand-up specials, will be coming from über clever magician who is on comedy shows all the time, Justin Willman.
The special “Sleight of Mouth” will not only feature his magic, but will also have the likes of Paul Scheer and Doug Benson in some drug-induced experiments.
If that all sounds good to you, then mark down 12:30AM on the night of Apr. 6th for the premiere.

The second round of The Wild West Comedy Festival is coming back to Nashville, TN from Apr. 14th-19th.
So far, they have the likes of Lewis Black, Joel McHale, Hannibal Buress, Eric Andre, Tig Notaro, Doug Benson, and more headlining the festival.
So, while you’re waiting until Bonnaroo in June to watch comedy in a giant tent, you definitely have the Wild West Comedy Festival, which is shaping up quite nicely, to look forward to if you in or around Tennessee.
I Am Road Comic will be the follow up to Jordan Brady’s documentary I Am Comic that follows the travels of comedians performing on what is commonly referred to as “the road” with all of its peaks and valleys.
Tales and words of wisdom will come from comedy road veterans such as Maria Bamford, Doug Benson, Wayne Federman, Pete Holmes, Kyle Kinane, TJ Miller, Marc Maron, Jen Kirkman, Judah Friedlander, Nikki Glaser, Tom Rhodes, W. Kamau Bell, Traci Skene, Auggie Smith, Alysia Wood, and more.
The Wayne Federman International Film Festival Returns For Its 3rd Year This Week
Wayne Federman’s International Film Festival, an annual collection of films screened and hosted by comedians such as TJ Miller, Taylor Negron, Jimmy Pardo, Doug Benson and more is back at Cinefamily at The Silent Movie Theatre this coming weekend.
Don’t miss out on the films that were undoubtedly big influences in their lives such as W.C. Fields’ The Bank Dick did on TJ Miller.
Doug Benson Inks Deal for ‘Movie Interruption’ with Alamo Drafthouse
Doug Benson has achieved the dreams of many in that he has just gotten a deal to make fun of movies across the country in one of the coolest theater chains, Alamo Drafthouse.
It’s been years since the great behind the mic documentary I Am Comic from director and comedian Jordan Brady; three years in fact. And now, after all that time, Brady is coming out with the follow up to I Am Comic in I Am Road Comic following the tales and travels of comedians that do the road and perform wherever they can get paid to talk into a microphone and discovering ultimately why they do it.
Watch this teaser with TJ Miller, Jen Kirkman, Judah Friedlander, and Doug Benson.
We Predict That SyFy Channel’s “Sharknado” Will Be a Popular Topic For Comedy
SyFy Channel over the last few years has invested in a rebirth of sorts of the niche midnight movie subgenre (i.e. movies that are so awesomely bad that they’re good) such as Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.
With that in mind, it would almost seem with SyFy’s latest creation in another apocalyptic shark movie, Sharknado, that Doug Benson’s Movie Interruption, How Did This Get Made? with Paul Scheer, almost all comedians on Twitter, and more are in cahoots with SyFy to have movies made that they can make fun of.
Basically, you can’t tell us that a movie that combines sharks and tornadoes won’t be source material for comedy in several forms.
