Dan Harmon’s Dungeons & Dragons sessions, that have been their own live show as well as part of his podcast Harmontown featuring Spencer Crittenden and guests who may be more or less acquainted with D&D, is getting its own show on Seeso.

Harmonquest will not only feature the riff-filled version of D&D with the likes of really funny people joining in the journey, but will also have great animated reenactments to accompany the game as the story unfolds.

Here’s a preview with Paul F. Tompkins as one of the guests that shows how great this concept really is.

Look for Harmonquest to start streaming on Seeso starting Thursday, July 14th.

Nick Kroll’s Sigmund Freud Fixes the Relationship Between Dan and Spencer on “Great Minds”

If you’ve been watching Great Minds with Dan Harmon on History channel’s Night Class, you’ve might have noticed that the relationship between Dan and Spencer Crittenden, who is solely responsible for the time travel that makes possible, is tenuous at best.

Luckily, their latest guest is none other than the legendary psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, as played by Nick Kroll who gets to analyze their relationship, albeit in a very Freudian, psychosexual manner.

See if Kroll’s Freud is able to fix their relationship all the way in 2016.

First off, Kristen Schaal playing Amelia Earhart should make your day on its own. However, Great Minds with Dan Harmon one-upped that by giving the farewell to Earhart that she probably would have wanted.

Dan Harmon scored a big get for the latest Great Minds on History channel’s Night Class with an appearance of the woman who sewed the U.S. flag, Betsy Ross, as played by comedian, actress, and big time Bernie Sanders supporter Sarah Silverman.

All the alternative flags that Betsy/Sarah are pretty fantastic and definitely made for 2016 more than they probably were for 1776.

In an attempt to be more diverse, Great Minds with Dan Harmon on History channel’s Night Class ended up with infamous dictator Idi Amin (as played by Ron Funches) as a guest.

Well, Idi started as a guest and sort of hijacked the show as dictator are wont to do when on a TV show.

Thomas Middleditch, who just happens to be a member of The Improvised Shakespeare Company, made for a great William Shakespeare on last night’s episode of Great Minds with Dan Harmon.

Unfortunately, for Harmon, Shakespeare and him didn’t quite get along as well as he had hoped especially for William’s take on modern movies and TV. They, in fact, get into a shouting match hurling insults from across the centuries at each other.

Enjoy it all here.

We’re guessing that will probably top a lot of what you’ll be getting as holiday gifts this year.

If everything goes as Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon said at the Magic City Comic Con in Orlando, one of Adult Swim’s most fiercely beloved shows, Rick and Morty, from both Harmon and Justin Roiland, will have its third season sooner than expected.

Given everything else on Harmon’s plate of Great Minds at the History channel, Harmontown, having his hand at other things at Starburns Industries and mystery surrounding when the third season would actually return, many suspected we would all have to wait a couple of years.

Yet, an answer during a panel at this Magic City Comic Con lead to Dan revealing that season 3 will have 14 episodes and is targeted for the end of 2016.

So, with everything else going on this year, at least we’ll have that to look forward to.

The History channel’s Night Class looks like it’s off to a pretty great start.

One of the series within the show is Great Minds with Dan Harmon and the first episode takes wondrous comedic license with an actualized Ludwig van Beethoven as played by Jack Black being brought to the present day. Though probably not the way that many imagine Beethoven might be in real life, it’s still a pretty sweet version the classical legend.

Looks like that Adult Swim model is more popular than ever.

Looking to expand into more comedy-centric or comedy-adjacent programming, The History channel is adding more programming on top of Join or Die with Craig Ferguson.

Night Class will be a late night block, not unlike Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. The block will include Great Minds with Dan Harmon (Dan travels in a time machine to visit history’s greatest minds as played by Jack Black, Aubrey Plaza, Paul F. Tompkins, Thomas Middleditch, Sarah Silverman, and more), Crossroads of History (Elizabeth Shapiro highlights some of the more unbelievable, less talked about moments in history featuring Jack McBrayer, Wayne Knight, Lloyd Ahlquist, and more), and How to Lose the Presidency (a panel revisits how certain candidates committed campaign suicide).

We’ll all actually get to see how Night Class feels next week when it premieres Feb. 25th at 11:30PM.

For those of us looking to soak up anything Rick and Morty sinece we have no idea when season 3 is coming, Allie Goertz has given us an entire concept album inspired by one of the most brilliantly funny shows on television.

Called Sad Dance Songs, Allie has recorded five original songs complete with sound bytes from the show. There’s isn’t a cover of Get Schwifty, but it’s definitely a lyric on Dance Bitch.

There’s even an accompany music video from Paul B. Cummings that hits home the sort of adoration that Rick and Morty appropriately gets for how hysterical it truly is.

Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland, Dana Gould, and More to Guest Write for MST3K Revival

So, make the 12 episode goal happen already.

As if having the perfect cast of Jonah Ray, Baron Vaughn, Felicia Day, Hampton Yount, and Patton Oswalt wasn’t a cherry on top of Mystery Science Theater 3000 coming back, Joel Hodgson announced this morning that they’ll have a stellar guest writing staff:

Here’s a list of writers who have already agreed to come help out:

  • DAN HARMON, the incredible mind who created Community, hosts the Harmontownpodcast, and co-creator of the very funny Rick & Morty.
  • JUSTIN ROILAND, the other creator of Rick & Morty, as well as a very talented voice actor/comedian/artist, and a huge MSTie.
  • ROB SCHRAB, an original remote writer for MST3K, co-founder of the seminal Channel 101… and now, director of the next Lego Movie.
  • NELL SCOVELL, a long-time collaborator and friend, will be “in the house” too. She’s currently writing on the The Muppet Show but has worked on The Simpsons, Newhart andIt’s Garry Shandling’s Show, among others.
  • ERNIE CLINE, the New York Times best-selling author of Ready Player One, which will soon be a movie from Steven Spielberg! If you’ve read RP1, you know how good Ernie is with cultural references.
  • PAT ROTHFUSS, the New York Times best-selling author of The Name of Wind, has offered to have a “story breakfast” with me and go over “story beats” for the next series… and a few of you can join us!
  • PAUL & STORM, the hilarious musical act, W00tstock founders and stars, musical contributors to Despicable Me 2, my good friends and the hosts for Friday’s live “Final Countdown Telethon” will be contributing riffs and some special music!
  • DANA GOULD, the brilliant comedian and former Simpsons writer, who will also probably appear on camera as well for a cameo or two. But actually, that gets into the area of our Guest Cameos, which is a topic I want to save for tomorrow.
  • ROBERT LOPEZ, the EGOT-winning songwriter from Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon andFrozen, has offered to write some original songs for us!

The main writing staff was handpicked by Hodgson and, like pretty much everything with this revived MST3K, he was glad to bring in new blood. He added in this announcement:

So, our next staff writers are mostly people I’ve met in my travels, who I thought were funny and who have a knack for movie riffing. They come from all walks of life:

  • One is a teacher at a Montessori school,
  • One works in a bookstore,
  • One does graphics for a college,
  • One is in advertising,
  • One writes for a women’s online magazine,
  • One has a local public radio show,
  • One does IT for a design firm…

For the MST3K loyal, Joel also has got you covered:

Pretty cool, huh? I’m excited to have so many new faces and voices helping out. But I also want to make sure it’s not “too” new – you know, even as the show changes, I want to make sure we’re honoring MST3K’s past.

So, like I said, we’ve now made offers to all of MST’s original writers. While it seems like most of them won’t be available to join us, at least for now, I still hope they’ll decide to join us later. We’ll always be glad to have them back, even if it’s just for an episode or two when they can spare some time.

And actually, I’m happy to tell you that a few MST veterans have agreed to come back and “Pitch” in – not just as writers, but in other creative departments too – to make sure MST3K still has the spirit of the little cowtown puppet show you know and love:

  • CHARLIE ERICKSON,or, as he’s now known in the international DJ scene, Chuck Love, was the musical genius behind the original MST3K theme song, as well as the arranger of the haunting “MST3K Love Theme.” Charlie will be back to work on some new arrangements for us… and hopefully some new music, too!
  • BEEZ McKEEVER, MST3K’s original “Prop Diva,” will return to design special costumes for the bots. (Watch for her special line in the credits: “Robot Fashions created by Miss Beez of Duluth!”)
  • CRIST BALLAS, our original MST3K hair and makeup designer – and a long time friend – will also be joining us in that department, as well as plying his real trade: creating Academy Award-winning special effects makeup!

And finally…

  • PAUL CHAPLIN – old “Pitch” himself! – the veteran writer (over 144 MST3K episodes!) will be back demonstrate his mastery of “the craft we call riff”… and more important, to show the newer MST3K writers how we did it back in the day!

As it stands now, the Kickstarter for MST3K has raised $4,190,969 and are almost at its 9 episode goal of $4.4 million. There’s only 56 hours to go (just over two days) and it’d be great, especially with all the above info, if they could get to the $5.5 million goal so there will be 12 new feature length episodes.

Back MST3K here.

Also, Dan Harmon has advice to specifically dress like Dan Harmon if that’s something you’d be into.
