(via Deadline)

Last year, Rory Albanese left his long tenure at The Daily Show as a writer/executive producer to pursue other projects, do a bit of stand-up, etc. In fact, he signed a development deal with Warner Bros. and subsequently sold a project.

Now, Albanese is returning to his EP role on a Comedy Central series, except it will be on the brand new show with another Daily Show alum, Larry Wilmore and his upcoming show,The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore set to replace The Colbert Report.

Though this doesn’t give us much more details on The Minority Report, it should instill a more confidence in whatever they’re up to in developing it right now.

The Minority Report With Larry Wilmore To Replace The Colbert Report in Jan. 2015

All your bated breaths can now be let go. A Daily Show correspondent will indeed replace Stephen Colbert when he leaves for The Late Show to replace David Letterman starting in Jan. 2015 (coupled with Ferguson’s exit at the end of this year, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert should start around the same time).

Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore, who’s credits run also include The Office and a Showtime special, will host The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore following The Daily Show and we challenge the Internet to be upset with this choice.

Vulture Is Having a Festival a One Hell of a Comedy Night

The first ever Vulture Festival is coming this May in NYC and they’ve programmed quite the line-up for their evening of comedy at The Bell House including Billy Eichner, Mike Birbiglia, Chelsea Peretti, Abbi Jacobson, Ilana Glazer, and Jessica Williams.

We hope that Billy Eichner does Billy On The Street-esque bits throughout the evening, wandering throughout the audience.

More Late Night Interviews Should Be Like The Ones with Denis Leary and Jon Stewart

As actual long time friends, Denis Leary and Jon Stewart, in lieu of a typical interview, bicker wonderfully when Leary’s on The Daily Show like he did last night. It’s better than hearing most celebrities and what interesting thing happened to them in the past month and we wish that more interviews were like this.

Instead of talking about his great upcoming movie Bad Words, director and star Jason Bateman stopped by The Daily Show last night and showed how goy he is by not even knowing what Jewish holiday dinner he was at and second guessing his Yiddish vocabulary.

After over 15 years, Louis C.K.’s indie film Tomorrow Night is finally being released, as you’d expect, via his own website for just $5. Most movies don’t cost that much to watch and own until maybe they hit the bargain bin at Best Buy, so go ahead and buy and watch it.

If you’re wondering about the conception of this movie, C.K. talked with partial financier/Daily Show host Jon Stewart on The Daily Show about it.

John Oliver at HBO Moves Forward with ‘Daily Show’s’ Tim Carvell as Showrunner

2014 can’t come any quicker despite all of us wanting to see what John Oliver is exactly cooking up over at HBO. Oliver is already setting his pieces in place for his show by having another Daily Show cohort join his ranks in head writer Tim Carvell.

In other words, we’re probably going to get something close to Oliver hosting The Daily Show this past summer or something possibly even better.

Apparently, this pizza war has gotten a little out of hand since Jon Stewart laid down the hammer of Chicago’s Deep Dish style pizza last week.

In a move that many parts of our government on either side of the aisle could take note from, Jon makes a move to actually try Chicago style pizza and offer reconciliation, of course, with NYC style.

Watch the “pizza healing” begin here.

Egypt’s ‘Daily Show’-Style Program “El Bernameg” Breaks With Private Station

Due to being pulled off the air last minute most likely relating to the satirical nature of El Bernameg, the show is going somewhere else to hopefully not be so censored.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that El Bernameg was still around given everything that has been happening in Egypt recently.

Though the technical jargon of ratings shares from Nielsen can be more than a little cryptic (especially where exactly they’re coming from), it would seem that young people, “a key demo”, really love “@midnight w/Chris Hardwick” as it has beaten out The Daily Show and Colbert Report with that age group on a single night.

And, well, just take a look at some of the funniest people in Kristen Schaal Patton Oswalt, Nikki Glaser, Matt Braunger, Eugene Mirman, Doug Benson  and more come up with lame comic book characters and awesome fake buzz feed lists to see what all these young people are so into.

GOP Chair Loses His Job After Daily Show Interview

It’s honestly surprising that this hasn’t happened way more often with The Daily Show as the correspondents get a lot of moments where whatever politician, government official, etc. say something that they should immediately regret.

GOP Chair Don Yelton did that very thing commenting on voting districts during an interview with Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi, losing his position, and offered up another example of what could be called “gonzo comedy”.
