Jason Bateman and Will Arnett Are Reuniting for a Different Kind of ‘Arrested Development’ This Holiday Season

The pairing of Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, for so many of us, is seared into our collective memories as Michael and Gob Bluth from Arrested Development. That said, it was so hard to get all of their collective schedules together for the Netflix seasons of the beloved series that it’s hard to say if and when another batch of episodes will come out somewhere at some point.

Fret not though as Bateman is joining in on some equally ridiculous chaos on Netflix, but under the umbrella of Will Arnett’s semi-improvised murder mystery comedy series Murderville. Bateman and Maya Rudolph will be assisting Arnett’s overly-grizzled detective character Terry Seattle in trying to solve the sudden and shocking murder of Santa and, in the best way possible, hijinks ensue (especially since Seattle is seemingly in his own perpetual, actual arrested development while trying to solve a horrific crime).

Get a first look at Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Myster here, then look for it on Netflix beginning Thurs. Dec. 15th.

For Some Over the Top Murder Mystery Comedy, Watch Trailer for “Game Night”

From the looks of the trailer, Game Night seems to fall somewhere between It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Clue, and The Game.

On many levels, this movie seems utterly ridiculous, especially Rachel McAdams relative calm throughout this “game night” ordeal and Jesse Plemons’ bit. Yet, all the set pieces seem almost inexplicably enjoyable (let’s hope that there are more than just what’s shown in this first trailer) and they kind of have us on board for whatever this ride is.

Seeing Jason Bateman and Sharon Horgan on screen is always a plus as well.

In any case, see all of this for yourself in the trailer here.

Game Night is set for theatrical release on March 2nd, 2018.

“Look very probable I’m going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer. Just officially signed on to more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT today.”

Arrested Development fans have been reinforced to hang on to every bit of news on whether new episodes will ever come out.

This is the best and latest indication that a new season is on its way.

Contrary To What We’ve All Been Hearing, Jason Bateman Says There Is No Current Plan for More “Arrested Development”

We’ve all made a huge mistake?

Despite hearing from Brian Grazer about a new batch of episodes of Arrested Development coming soon, it seems more unsure that such a thing is indeed happening.

Earlier this summer, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos expressed that he was hopeful to continue with new episodes of the series, but nothing was official or confirmed.

In his recent WTF appearance, Arrested Development star Jason Bateman echoed that sentiment by no knowledge of new episodes going into production.

He also elaborated that calling the latest episodes of Arrested Development “season 4″ as misleading as they were the first part of a three part arc.

Let’s hope we’ll be able to see the other two parts.

Jason Bateman on How He Would Host a Talk Show, Kids, and Will Arnett

Jason Bateman is always a good late night guest with his stories, quips, reactions, etc. His panel interview from Conan this week is a perfect example.

Going through dealing with kids, how horrific a talk show would be for him to want to host it, and addressing the “bromance” with Will Arnett, Bateman showcases why Conan O’Brien asked him about talk show hosting.

Jason Bateman’s Next Film to Be “IPO Man”

(via Deadline)

Jason Bateman’s had a great feature directorial debut with Bad Words and will now follow that up with a film based on a Wired article that followed a man sold his life to investors. IPO Man (IPO is short for Initial Public Offering for when a company decides to go public on the stock market) will star and be directed by Bateman and should be right up Bateman’s alley.

Looking forward to more dark comedy from the auteur Jason Bateman.

Jason Bateman To Direct, Star In FBI Wedding Comedy For Universal

Though the juxtaposition of FBI and wedding comedy might seem incongruous, Jason Bateman’s directorial debut with Bad Words was so fantastic that we’re on board with whatever he’s at work with here.

Like Bad Words, Bateman is set to direct and star and this has us thoroughly intrigued.

NBC Starts Comedy Playground Initiative to Launch Two Series in 2015

NBC is making a bold, but great move, by looking for two new original comedy series via submissions at their brand new Comedy Playground.

There will be taking pitches that will be reviewed by a board made up of Aziz Ansari, Jason Bateman, Robert Carlock, Sean Hayes, Mindy Kaling, Jason Katims, Josh Lieb, Eva Longoria, Adam McKay, Seth Meyers, Todd Milliner, Will Packer, Amy Poehler, Craig Robinson, Maya Rudolph, Mike Schur, Adam Scott and Mike Shoemaker, then narrowed to ten projects for pilot presentations, then will greenlight two series to follow each other in an one-hour block.

We can only hope that they’ll find their next hit comedy series to follow Parks and Recreation and Community for next year.

Jason Bateman To Narrate New Lego Documentary

In addition to doing some announcing for The Dodgers, the voice of Jason Bateman will now narrate a new documentary on the world of Lego.

We’re not sure how involved he will be with the project, but one can only hope that he’s bring a little of his sensibilities from Bad Words to his narration for this doc.

Both Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel and Jason Bateman’s Bad Words, in very different ways, are wonderful and really, very funny. They are so much so, that we don’t feel it necessary to further explain why.

Just trust us, they’re both worth your time and money for an afternoon/evening of hearty laughs and cinematic euphoria.

To save you a little time, here are LA showtimes for Grand Budapest Hotel and Bad Words.

Instead of talking about his great upcoming movie Bad Words, director and star Jason Bateman stopped by The Daily Show last night and showed how goy he is by not even knowing what Jewish holiday dinner he was at and second guessing his Yiddish vocabulary.

Watch the interview/Jon Stewart run off laughing here.

Catch a Free Screening of Jason Bateman’s Bad Words at Arclight

We were lucky enough to catch a preview screening of Jason Bateman’s feature film directorial debut Bad Words, which was fantastic. We’re going to say that it might be the R-rated comedy to watch for this year.

On Mar. 3rd, there will be another preview screening at 7:30PM at Arclight Hollywood and we highly suggest that you get in on that if you’re in LA.

‘This Is Where I Leave You’ with Jason Bateman and Tina Fey To Come Out Sept. 2014

Post Arrested Development/30 Rock, both Jason Bateman and Tina Fey have been both extremely busy with developing plenty of projects, being in The Muppets, etc. and we’re curious to see what a dark family comedy with the two will become.

Jason Bateman To Direct and Star with Nicole Kidman in ‘The Family Fang’

The Family Fang: A Novel , a novel about a dysfunctional family kicked off by work-obsessed performance artist parents is set to be adapted by Jason Bateman, who given his Arrested Development pedigree, should have more than a good grasp on where to take this.

If you still have any doubts about that, one of the children in the book is named Buster.

The First Episode of Always Open w/David Koechner w/guest Jason Bateman.  Though, you might not believe, Denny’s is a common destination for comedians.  This must be because Denny’s features like the 2-4-6-8 prices provide both a meal and material.
