All those years of hosting This Is Not Happening have rubbed off on Ari Shaffir in the best way possible.

You can see the effect on his latest special, Double Negative, which just started streaming on Netflix. The way in which he weaves personal observations and stories in, through, and around a single Tinder-related incident that befell a friend is subtle, but very impressive. You almost don’t even realize he has been circling and off-shooting from the same point for the whole hour until the end of it. Therein lies Ari’s detailed, seamless craftsmanship.

So, with that said, give Ari’s Double Negative a watch when you can.

For us, any time Rory Scovel has a mic in his hand and is on stage is required viewing.

This traumatic story from his youth about his very first sharting incident does not disappoint. It may be about ‘unintentional bodily evacuations’, but Rory makes this story kind of beautiful.

Please watch and enjoy it here.

When you haven’t seen a friend in a long time, giving a gift is always a nice gesture. However, when that gift is mushrooms to trip out on and neither have you tripped on mushrooms before, it gets kind of complicated.

That’s what good friends Ari Shaffir and Pete Carboni did for the latest story on This Is Not Happening and well, we will just let Ari and Pete tell you the rest…

We will say that if this was an ad for taking mushrooms, it would be one of the most convoluted ad for mushrooms ever.

The 2nd Ari Shaffir special to hit TV in 2015 will air tonight on Comedy Central. Earlier this year, there was Paid Regular and, tonight at midnight, there will be Passive Aggressive.

Actually, Passive Aggressive was first available on a site called Chill.com that existed awhile ago. So, this previously lost special Passive Aggressive from Ari Shaffir finally gets uncovered tonight. (Also, both specials are now available at CC:Stand-Up Direct)

If you live in Hollywood, you learn almost instantly that it’s far removed from the glitz and glamour that’s depicted on stage and screen. One great example of that is the Ralphs on Sunset Blvd. that’s open 24/7, affectionately called the “Rock n’ Roll Ralphs”.

Steve Rannazzisi had an ordeal there that gives you an idea of why this Ralphs is “special” and has earned its “rock n’ roll” status in a story for This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir.
