Pick of the Day: The Jesse Miller Talk Show (in LA) 12/11

November 8, 2021
News

To this very day, Andre Hyland‘s creation, The Jesse Miller Talk Show, remains as one of the craziest and best talk shows we’ve ever seen (that includes any of the ones on TV all the way to ones that happen in someone’s apartment).

For the unfamiliar, The Jesse Miller Talk Show puts one Jesse Miller at the monster truck driver’s seat of his very own talk show that blends the outrageous energy of self-proclaimed media mogul that you might find outside of many 7-11s in LA that celebrities may have frequented with a seemingly unlimited capacity for pop culture knowledge and wordplay. Also, there’s heavy guitar shredding from Darryl (Paul Oyen) and plenty of PDA with his sidekick/boo Tanya (Anna Lee Lawson).

In short, it’s a good time and we’re glad to see that it’ll be going back up, in-person, on this side of the pandemic at Dynasty Typewriter on Sat. Dec. 11th at 10PM PT. So far, Jesse will be putting his dazzling interview tricks on display for Noël Wells, Mitra Jouhari, and a special surprise guest.

Tickets are $15 right now, so you best go snatch them up right now.

Andre Hyland’s “self-proclaimed mogul” Jesse Miller is back at again with another edition of his Jesse Miller Talk Show. Unlike most talk show hosts, Jesse often moshes during his monologue, wears sunglasses the whole time, has a metal-ish house band led solely by Daryl, and often makes out with his other co-host Tanya.

It’s a talk show that is just “straight up” unlike any other talk show.

Also, Kate Berlant, Nick Thune, and J.D. Dillard are set as guests for this time around at Dynasty Typewriter next week.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at door. Go get’em here.

Out of the video archives from some of our favorite folks that put their comedy stylings into the ether of YouTube/Vimeo/etc. will come this special DTLA “video showcase”, The Canary Underground.

It’s put together by Grimy Ghost’s Derek Qxqx and we’re sure that you’ll get to see some potentially life changing comedy before most of the world wide web.

Tickets are $5 and you can get more details here.

Andre Hyland has some of the best character-man-on-the-street segments around.

Wannabe hippie Phil Gower is one such character.

See for yourself as Phil indeed gets kicked out of a peaceful drum circle.

There are plenty takes that turn the talk show format on its head.

The latest edition is coming back to the Hollywood Improv Comedy Lab next week and tickets are only $5.

Trailer for Andre Hyland’s “The 4th” Shows How Fourth of July in LA Can Go Wrong

Putting together plans for the 4th of July can be burdensome. In LA, as so many people live in such a big area, the Fourth gets even more confounded as there are almost too many celebrations around the entire Greater LA area.

In The 4th, Andre Hyland falls victim to trying to throw a 4th of July BBQ in Los Angeles and encountering the wrong thing at every turn.

See for yourself in the trailer, then look for it in a theater near you on July 21st.

One of the wildest talk shows around, The Jesse Miller Talk Show, is having its February 2017 edition back at the Hollywood Improv next Friday.

Part Kenny Powers, part pop-culture expert, part unstoppable pun making machine, Jesse Miller (Andre Hyland) reinvents the talk show on his own terms and The Jesse Miller Talk Show is all the better for it.

In our opinion, one of the best and craziest iterations of the late night talk show format is The Jesse Miller Talk Show.

Imagine some wild dreamer from Cincinnati who seems to be aspiring to be Kenny Powers, but also has a boundless amount of pop culture knowledge and ability to make wordplay hosting a talk show and you’ll get some idea of the fun chaos that is going on with Jesse Miller (Andre Hyland).

In addition to his crew of his one man shredding house band Darryl and his girl Tanya, guests for this round include Johnny Pemberton and Kate Berlant.

Please get your tickets for The Jesse Miller Talk Show this Friday, Dec. 9th at 10PM at The Hollywood Improv here.

Comedy multi-hyphenate Andre Hyland, among his many talents, has a knack for getting the most lively interviews out of those usually droll press junkets where a film or TV show’s talent sit for hours and hours and answer the same questions over and over again.

Hyland has done this for years at various channels and digital platforms under various personas because, well, he boldly has fun like no other interviewer at these junkets does.

The latest iteration of Andre being mischievous amongst A-listers is with the new Super Deluxe web series Bonus Features. Watch the first episode where he plays around with Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot, Isla Fisher, Matt Walsh, and Maribeth Monroe, the cast of Keeping Up with the Joneses.

One of our favorite talk shows of all time is back, The Jesse Miller Talk Show. It’s hosted by Cincy’s own Jesse Miller (Andre Hyland) who simultaneously is a midwestern bad boy who also seems to have uncanny depth of pop culture knowledge.

Catch it on Friday, September 30th at the Hollywood Improv Comedy Lab at 10PM with guests Paul Scheer, April Richardson, and Noël Wells.

You can (and should) get your tickets here.

Before they picked up @midnight, Comedy Central was looking for a daily series to follow The Cobert Report and some pilots were ordered including The Jesse Miller Talk Show created by Andre Hyland.

It was a talk show that was hosted by a character that’s reminiscent of Kenny Powers, but also blessed with an endless amount of pop culture knowledge.

Well, after the pilot was not picked up, “Jesse Miller” went to “straight up” find his roots.

FYI, his roots are in Norwood, Ohio.

Watch his trip back home with his alway sstraight faced sidekick Daryl here.

Please acquaint yourself with Andre Hyland if you don’t already know from being Jesse Miller, his acclaimed short film Funnel, numerous TV appearances in character, and more.

While bikes are a step forward in terms of conserving energy and fighting pollution, there is a possibly more green mode of transportation according to Ethan (Hyland) that you do.

Before you even ask, it is more annoying and cumbersome to everyone else. You can see for yourself right here.

Most press in promotion of a movies consist of rote questions that cast members, directors, writers, etc. hate answering and, in many cases, the interviewers hate asking.

So, Andre Hyland is changing the press interview game with his unique style that is less about what is working with who and more about “custom” autographs on Hyland’s head, etc. Check his sit down with Ben Stiller, Rebel Wilson, Dan Stevens, Ricky Gervais, Shawn Levy, and Owen Wilson and you’ll agree that more interviews should be like it.

Having been given a development deal by Fox to create alternative content, the guys from Lonely Island have, so far, put together three projects in development. One is sci-fi comedy with Danny Pudi, another is a mockumentary hosted Neal Brennan, and then there will be a hidden camera show from Andre Hyland (a thing that we think is long overdue).

The company that they’ve formed, almost to no surprise, is called Party Over Here. In case you’re wondering, we’re looking forward to all of this.

We’d put money on the hilarious Andre Hyland interviewing himself as a character in promotion of his short film Funnel screening at The Sundance  Film Festival better than most interviews at Sundance.

Unfortunately, I don’t think there are any bookies that would take a bet like that.

The great multi-hyphenate funny person Andre Hyland is on his way to the prestigious Sundance Film Festival with a short film that, as he reveals in this interview, was just shot in a day. Knowing Andre, that’s probably all he needed.

Andre is hilarious in such a uniquely silly way (just check his character Jesse Miller out) that we’re thrilled gets to be shared in Park City, UT. Watch him discuss his short film Funnel that was selected at the link.
