ICYMI: The 100 Best Things in Comedy We Were Witness to in No Particular Order of 2016

Our 2016 best of comedy list includes stand-up, sketch, improv, short film, podcasts, poetry, art installations, books, feature films, web series, musical comedy, individual performances, late night, and anything else that falls under the umbrella of comedy that we loved.

Some things you may know like Reggie Watts or Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and others, like Chris Estrada or Killer, you may not. In any case, we hope you enjoy it all as we did.

Fun fact: the list has items that happened on January 1st, 2016 and also December 30th, 2016.

The Peabody Awards are on track to getting mentioned in the same conversation as the Emmys, the Golden Globes, etc. on top of being the prestigious awards that they have always been.

Having shifted from an afternoon announcement to a telecast and a whole evening affair, The Peabody Awards have really stepped up their game since 2015. Last year, they had Fred Armisen host and now they’re having another high profile comedian in Keegan-Michael on board to host this year.

The actual event will happen on Saturday, May 21st, but there will be a special that will air a few weeks later on June 6th at 8PM on Pivot.

(via Variety)

This is the election coverage we both kind of need and deserve.

Thanks to Funny or Die and the existence of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog from the mind of Robert Smigel and the platform of Late Night with Conan O’Brien/Conan, there will be a comedy special covering the 2016 presidential race hosted by Triumph.

Let your mind run wild with how great and off-the-rails that will go.

The special will be called Triumph’s Election Special 2016 and will steam on Hulu starting next month.

We can only imagine what Smig– cough– Triumph has to say about his name being really close to Trump’s.

For those of you that had thought that John Oliver was going to possibly leave Last Week Tonight to replace Jon Stewart later this year at The Daily Show, you obviously aren’t aware of how good Oliver has it over at HBO and how much HBO is into Oliver.

Today, that was all made clear by HBO announcing that two 35 episode seasons of Last Week Tonight have been ordered that will air in 2016 and 2017 separately.

Aside from possibly narrowing your list on who is coming to The Daily Show desk, rejoice in the fact that will have almost three more years of Oliver at his own desk doing stuff like this week’s takedown of Big Tobacco.

We found out, earlier this week, that No, You Shut Up! with Paul F. Tompkins was the 2nd most Googled show of 2014.

If you’re curious why that might be, you could Google that or you can just watch this great clip of a puppet Big Foot going over his “predictions” for the 2016 presidential elections with Tompkins.

After that, keep the most-Googled train going by googling more about the wonderful No, You Shut Up! on Fusion.

After that, watch an episode on Fusion tonight at 10:30PM.
