AVN Awards Name Danielle Stewart as Comedic Co-Host

December 1, 2014
Uncategorized

(via Vegas News)

We were not even aware that comedians took on any hosting duties for the adult entertainment industry’s AVN Awards, but, apparently, the likes of Dave Attell, April Macie, and Robert Schimmel have all done the gig.

This year, The AVN Awards have wisely chosen the sharp and saucy Danielle Stewart as their comedic co-host and will make be shown somewhere on cable in 2015.

Given that the event is set to actually happen in Jan., we wonder what sort of fun stuff they will cut out for air over those few months.

Catch the premiere of Togetherness on Jan. 11th at 9:30PM on HBO.

“Door Boys” Remind You Not to Confuse First Star Wars and Episode I

MTV Other’s Door Boys from Good Cop Great Cop have a lot of time on their hands, so, it would be reasonable to assume that they would get the order of movies in The Star Wars franchise mixed up.

It’s not confusing to the rest of us that IV is first and I is fourth, right? Even if it is, just watch the latest episode of Door Boys here.

Buzzfeed Hires Daniel Kibblesmith from Clickhole, The Professional Parody of Sites Like Buzzfeed

December 2, 2014
Uncategorized

(via Poynter)

Clickhole was founded by The Onion to satirize all the clickbait sites that have risen to prominence online over the last couple of years. One of their biggest targets was Buzzfeed and they made sure to make Buzzfeed style quizzes and listlcles, but with their own absurd twist. The folks at Clickhole were so good at parodying Buzzfeed that, sometimes, the only way to differentiate between the two was the font, graphics, and URL.

Now, “the snake has eaten its own tail” or “life imitates art” or “if you can’t beat’em, join’em” all applies as Buzzfeed has just hired Daniel Kibblesmith, a Clickhole associate editor to be part of their staff. They were impressed with his work and thought his quizzes would work as regular non-parody on Buzzfeed.

What this all means in the long run has yet to be seen, but we do know that this is one way where the Internet has reinforced itself from attempts by others to “break it”.

Lauren Graham Developing Sitcom About There Being a Female Network Late Night Talk Show Host at NBC

December 2, 2014
Uncategorized
ellen degeneres, kate on later, late night, lauren graham, nbc

(via Deadline)

Throughout the history of late night , all the major broadcast networks have had an absence of female late night talk show hosts. Even the roster of interim hosts for The Late Late Show that bridges the gap between Craig Ferguson exiting and James Corden starting doesn’t have a female guest host so far as we know.

So, Lauren Graham has taken it upon herself to co-write and star in a sitcom about their being a fictional one trying to make her way in what has been a field almost entirely populated by white men in America since its inception. NBC has taken on the project, titled Kate on Later, for development and Ellen DeGeneres has boarded the project as an executive producer.

Perhaps, this might resemble a female led Larry Sanders Show and we’re absolutely on board for that.

Martin Short, Jerry Seinfeld, Miranda Sings, and Jimmy Fallon Play One of the Most Absurd Games of Pictionary

The game Pictionary is simple enough as it’s basically charades, but utilizing drawing rather than acting out. It’s also been a game for several years, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable that people playing it would be, at least, decent at guessing words and phrases from drawings.

However, the duos of Martin Short/Jimmy Fallon and Jerry Seinfeld/Miranda Sings made for one great, rare edition of Pictionary on The Tonight Show that might be one of the more ridiculous, outlandish games that has ever been played.

Watch it here.

Sony Developing a Comedy Centered Around a Shakespearean Theatre Company Starring Will Ferrell

The idea of Will Ferrell being in old English garb and going crazy with the subject matter of Shakespeare sounds pretty good to us which is why we’re excited for Sony’s latest feature development. They’ve just bought a feature pitch that follows the competitive world of Shakespearean theater and Will Ferrell is set to star.

If and when this movie gets set for distribution, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ferrell attempted doing a soliloquy of sorts on late night.

By this time, Wilmore will have already started his post at The Nightly Show, which is making for a really good start to 2015 for Larry.

Conan O’Brien Made a Pretty Good Bill Cosby Joke Last Night

December 3, 2014
Uncategorized
allegations, bill cosby, conan, controversy, team coco, what's conan watching now

The entirety of comedy has been trying to deal with one of the most tragic falls of one of its own that it has ever had. That’s saying a lot given the very well known flaws of many comedians, but the counts upon counts upon counts of sexual assault and rape levied at Bill Cosby have been hard to process given how so many people held him in such high regard.

So, comedy is starting to do what it does best and bring some levity to the whole matter. You might have caught Seth Meyers do a meta-bit about doing a joke about the controversy surrounding Cosby or a quick one-liner from Jon Stewart on The Daily Show.

Last night, Conan O’Brien delivered a Cosby joke within his What’s Conan Watching Now (around 1:12) segment on Conan.

As a Cosby biographer stated that he may to revise future editions of Cosby: His Life and Times, more live performances of Cosby are getting cancelled or are offering refunds before the shows even happen, Bill Cosby himself resigned from the Temple University Board of Trustees, and Bill Cosby himself only spoke up on the matter to say that he “…doesn’t have to answer to innuendos,” late night jokes on national television are seemingly only the beginning of what will be a hot button topic for comedians for the next several years.

With that in mind, if you’re on the Internet at all, prepare for a whole new set of Parks and Rec .gifs which will be contextualized to apply to everything.

The Third Season of “Kroll Show” Will Be Its Final Season

Rather than redefining the entire DNA of the series in order to keep the show going, Nick Kroll is making the upcoming third season of Kroll Show the final one. Kroll explained in detail to Vulture why he’s ending the show rather than, like most shows in the U.S., to go for six seasons or more.

You can also watch Kroll’s Show’s Liz G. comment “solemnly” on the matter.

Season 3 premieres around Jan. 13th on Comedy Central, but you can get a sneak peek tonight at 10:30PM.

He is now setting to record his very first album back at home in Portland, OR for Kill Rock Stars Sat. Feb. 7th at Mississippi Studios. We highly recommend going to this if you can and/or buying the album afterwards.

Having been given a development deal by Fox to create alternative content, the guys from Lonely Island have, so far, put together three projects in development. One is sci-fi comedy with Danny Pudi, another is a mockumentary hosted Neal Brennan, and then there will be a hidden camera show from Andre Hyland (a thing that we think is long overdue).

The company that they’ve formed, almost to no surprise, is called Party Over Here. In case you’re wondering, we’re looking forward to all of this.
