Please Get Eugene Mirman’s 9 Volume, 7-LP Album “I’m Sorry (You’re Welcome)” Out Today from Sub Pop Records

October 30, 2015
Uncategorized
comedy album, eugene mirman, i'm sorry (you're welcome), sub pop records

Let Eugene Mirman’s imagination run wild and you’ll get something as vast and brilliant as I’m Sorry (You’re Welcome).

Spanning 9 volumes and 7 LPs, Mirman has curated a veritable exhibition hall of his own comedy. There’s a traditional collection of straight stand-up, but there’s a vast array of the absurd including foley effects, Russian phrases, a “f*ckscape”, an audio representation of specific drugs and what it’s like to take them, ringtones, noises that could orgasms or something else very niche, and Eugene crying for a really long time.

All of it takes you deep into the recesses of Eugene’s mischievous psyche and back again, then in circles, then deeper, and around for another ago in the best way, most hilarious way possible.

Also, playing Eugene crying to any music video that’s overly maudlin like Adele’s Hello is pretty great.

Please get the album in digital or vinyl from Sub Pop Records or on iTunes now.

Mirman is doing a tour that kicks off tomorrow from Oct. 30th-Nov. 19th going to Brooklyn, LA, Seattle, Portland, Austin, and Boston. Get tickets and info here.

Josh Androsky Takes a “Trumpkin” To Trump Tower

As a great description of Donald Trump’s appearance involves a pumpkin, Josh Androsky took submissions for the best jack-o-lanterns carved into a representation of the Republican presidential candidate.

After picking his favorite, Androsky made sure that the eerie visage was in Trump’s sight by taking it near his very own building and then making sure everyone else on the street saw it as well be clear on Trump’s platform thus far.

If that’s not trolling for greatness, then you’re probably like the one Trump supporter Josh meets.

Steven Wright Talks Shop, Specifically Consulting on “Louie” with Seth Meyers

With Craig Ferguson no longer behind a late night talk show desk, Steven Wright won’t get to out-weird Craig while doing something like reading e-mails like he used to do all the time.

However, Wright is still willing to chat, perhaps in a less bit-based conversation, on late night and did so with Seth Meyers this week.

Watch Steven get into his comedic process as well as explaining what he exactly does on Louie with Louis C.K.

The field of candidates vying for the presidential nomination from the GOP is even more crowded and crazed that you already know.

That’s mostly because there simply isn’t enough airtime to fit in all of them into primetime.

Luckily, Barry Rothbart and Danny Solomon have us covered for the most fringe Republican candidates right here in a probably rarely seen 3rd tier debate.

ABC Developing Aisha Muharrar Comedy Based on Book About Trying to Diet Like a Celebrity

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

This project is being adapted from Rebecca Harrington’s I’ll Have What’s She’s Having: My Adventures in Celebrity Dining.

Aisha Muharrar will now go having written on Parks and Recreation to potentially running her own show over at ABC. This series would specifically follow people’s foolish attempts at trying to emulate the lives of famous people and inevitably bringing more chaos into their lives.

Having plenty of experience with Tom Haverford, we definitely can see how this would work.

This should prove to be yet another solid comedy block for HBO next year.

So are networks taking a cue from the likes of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones as no show is safe from getting the ax?

For more than few months now, geopolitical crisis comedy, The Brink, had gotten the order for a second season just before the cast’s contract for the show expired.

Yet, even though a renewal for another season is pretty straightforward and there should be nothing to worry about on the part of the cast and crew of the show as well as the fans, it was announced today that The Brink is now cancelled at HBO.

Hopefully, this doesn’t spark a trend where shows can only be ensured of being on the air only once they actually go on air.

James Corden wanted to know if CBS Television City, where The Late Late Show tapes, is really haunted.

So, he tapped the guys from Ghost Adventures along with Reggie Watts equipped with an inflatable proton pack to find a presence somewhere in the belly of CBS.

We can definitely see this as an installment in the Paranormal Activity franchise.

See, if you dare, what they found here.

Billy Eichner and Jason Sudeikis turn what it means to be masculine on its head as they strut the streets of NYC, dressed head to toe in a sort of bro uniform, and shouting about how much they love the Broadway hit Wicked.

Watch Eichner’s version of being a “bro” in this latest episode of Billy on the Street.

Here’s yet another step in a good direction for TBS.

In case you haven’t taken note, TBS is giving themselves an overhaul. Already, they have a talk show from Samantha Bee and a sitcom from Jason Jones coming up. Now, they’ve just ordered a comedy pilot from the minds of Todd Strauss-Schulson, the mastermind behind the wonderful meta 80s slasher comedy The Final Girls, and Matt Fogel, who composed music on Funny or Die’s The Wire: The Musical.

It’ll follow two friends who are part of a generation of men that are embracing all their emotions. While that’s not much to try to imagine what the pilot might exactly entail, we’re pretty sure Strauss-Schulson and Fogel have something clever up their sleeve given their past work.

All in all, we’re really intrigued to see how good this new TBS could be.
