Her “latest” film takes her into more dramatic territory to really showcase how much Wiig can really get into a role.

Watch the “trailer” for her new indie drama that “debuted” on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night.

Ricky Gervais Will Return to Host The Golden Globes for The 4th Time

October 26, 2015
Uncategorized
ricky gervais, the golden globes

(via Variety)

The Internet is definitely more primed to meme and/or “think piece” everything Ricky does as host than it was 2012, the last year he hosted.

Ricky Gervais hosted The Golden Globes three years in a row and ruffled some feathers, particularly of those in attendance, during that stint for his roast-style hosting.

After three years of the power duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, we wonder what Gervais will have up his sleeve and if he’ll go more or less aggressive throughout the telecast.

So, in the same year, Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais will have hosted major awards shows, which seems like more than just happenstance.

It’s going to be called “TV’s Funniest Animated Stars: A Paley Center for Media Special”

Mickey Mouse to SpongeBob SquarePants to The Simpsons and several other legendary cartoon characters will be the focus of a Fox TV special put together by The Paley Center for Media. The likes of H. Jon Benjamin, Nancy Cartwright, Mike Judge, Seth Green, Pamela Adlon, Tom Kenny, Yeardley Smith, and more will chat about their various animated characters that they’ve helped put on the map.

Hopefully, they’ll do some sort of bit with some of the characters like Human Giant did all those years ago with t-shirt cannons.

If anything, you’ll be asking probably asking as many questions about this video as you all apparently are for Adele’s actual video for the song.

Gravitas Ventures Set to Release “Band of Robbers” in Jan. 2016

Looks like there will be movies worth watch after Star Wars Ep. VII.

Modern day folk taking after Mark Twain’s beloved characters like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn to be a band of sort of honorable thieves sounds like a pretty enticing flick to us, especially with a trailer like this one.

That’s why we’re happy to hear Gravitas Ventures have acquired the rights to Aaron and Adam Nee’s Band of Robbers for a limited/VOD release that’s aimed at Jan .15th.

On top of that, the likes Hannibal Buress, Johnny Pemberton, Melissa Benoist, and Matthew Gray Gubler get to join in the fun on here as well.

Oh Yeah, The Comedy Bureau Is Officially 5 Years Old

los angeles, the comedy bureau

You could also say that “we” have gone 1826 days without a time loss accident.

5 years ago to the day, “we” started The Comedy Bureau out of a single bedroom and had no idea that it would become the part of the LA comedy scene that it is today.

Of course, none of that would have happened without all you great folks clicking, watching, reading, bookmarking, subscribing, favoriting, sharing, and occasionally donating over the years, especially since we’re really “understaffed” when it comes to marketing.

We’re looking forward to keeping this pretty well oiled machine definitely going for more than 5 more years. So, if you can, donate to “us” for running it for half a decade from that aforementioned bedroom and various coffee shops with wifi (there’s a paypal link at thecomedybureau.com right above the google calendars) or, if you can’t do that, tell/post/tweet/etc. about us somehow being around for 5 years.

Sincerely, thank you to all from “all of us” here at the Bureau for making what we do worth it.

(FYI, we’ll have some sort of anniversary show/shindig at some point as soon as we can find where our party planning committee went.)

10 years ago, Seth Green has led a team of full grown adults into making absurdist stop-motion animation cartoons with his favorite action figures at Robot Chicken.

As a result, it’s now one of the pillars of Adult Swim and, with several collaboration specials and the 8th season kicking off tonight, it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon.

Holograms of Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx Are Going on Tour

(via NY Times)

If you’re in a “tourist-oriented” city next year, chances are you might get to see Kaufman and Foxx as holograms.

Hologram USA is showing how much they can do with holograms these days by having the holographic likenesses of Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx not only doing their most highly regarded bits, but reenacting scenes from their lives based on their biographies.

They’ll play several times a day, not unlike The Hall of Presidents at Disneyland, in various cities where folks might be curious to see what this hologram business is all about.

If this goes well, expect more hologram of famous comedians going around in what could be a sort-of wax museum of the 21st century.

It would seem nowadays that broadcast networks need their shows to have star power producing pilots and scripts even before they consider picking it up to series.

Thus, Fox is really stacking their comedy development slate with high profile, high concept projects this season. Just this week, they’ve added Weird Like Us from Ed Helms and Max Werner and Citizen Floyd from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on to their docket.

Weird Like Us will follow the family dynamics of parents that go against the grain of society that end up raising kids that decide to join that very grain. Citizen Floyd has much fewer details as it’s only noted to be a workplace comedy with suspense and some political elements.

As far as Fox’s live action comedies go, we can see how these two series would pair nicely with Last Man on Earth.

One of those folks is Elena as you can see here and here. Part of the reason she’s become a regular on Billy on the Street is the way her energy, or lack thereof, contrasts in such a great way with Billy.

This latest appearance is no different. Watch it here.
