Todd Phillips’ “War Dogs Goes for a ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ of Arms Dealing in First Trailer

With the Hangover franchise presumably in the rear view mirror, writer/director Todd Phillips has lately been working on a much more intriguing project, War Dogs.

Based on the true story (written in an Rolling Stone by Guy Lawson) article of the young, enterprising American gun runners David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, it looks like Jonah Hill gets to live up his character in the Wolf of Wall Street (replace stocks with guns) and team up with Miles Teller in what seems like one of the many batshit crazy stories to come out of Afghanistan.

Watch the trailer here, then look for War Dogs in theaters August 19th.

Rather than hunting around for DVD box sets, you’ll be able to binge watch, as you should, Garry Shandling’s masterpiece of a television show.

Before his unfortunate passing yesterday, a deal to get The Larry Sanders Show over at HBO was closed. Soon, you’ll be able to watch episodes on HBO as well as stream them on HBO’s streaming services.

When that happens, make sure you have an HBO GO account or a friend or family member that’s generous with their password.

In Heartfelt Tribute to Garry Shandling, Conan O’Brien Recounts Garry Helping Him After Losing The Tonight Show

In a very personal tribute in memory of the recently passed away Garry Shandling, Conan O’Brien pointed out why Garry was amazing outside of just being one of the comedy greats.

Shandling not only had done panel with Conan over the years, but Garry also offered counsel and emotional support to O’Brien in the days following the unfortunate end of hosting The Tonight Show. Conan told the story in detail on last night’s episode of his show.

Undoubtedly, this is only one in many stories to come of why Shandling was, is, and will be revered in the world of comedy and beyond.

Tickets are $20 and no matter if you’re a tenth-of-the-one-percent-percenter or one of the 99%, you should get them as soon as possible.

It was only a few months ago that he seemed as jovial and sharp as ever on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

It’s Garry Shandling’s Show., The Larry Sanders Show, his stand-up, and much more all made for a beloved Garry Shandling for his 66 years on this planet.

Unfortunately, he passed away today. No further details about his death have been released yet.

May you take a moment or two to mourn the passing of a comedy great and then spend hours rewatching all the countless hours of weaving your way though the far-reaching, influential comedic legacy he left behind.

Trump vs. Bernie Got to Go for an Hour on @midnight

In a very special hour long edition of @midnight, Anthony Atamanuik and James Adomian donned their wigs and perfect impressions of presidential candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders to try, for a night, to win the Internet rather than the presidency.

From the looks of it, you could see pretty much Trump vs. Bernie is one of the best pieces of comedy to come from this year’s maelstrom of an election.

Watch the whole episode here.

Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers actually took on a double shift this week by making Honest Trailers for both 1978 Superman and the 1989 Batman movies as sort of a crash course on what comic book franchises of yesteryear were like.

For our money, Superman takes this one over Batman.

Cameron Esposito’s very first hour stand-up special Marriage Material has just started streaming over at Seeso today. If you haven’t heard us go on about Cameron before, we’ll let you know that anything she does is absolutely worth getting into.

Cameron not only gives greater exposure to LGBTQ voices, perspectives, and identity through her comedy, but she is so funny and disarming while doing so.

If you don’t have Seeso, you might want to take care of that today.

Chris Garcia Turns the Tables on Making Fun of Immigrant Parents

On Friday, Chris Garcia’s debut album Laughing and Crying at the Same Time will be released off AST Records.

It’s an all around great record, but this specific preview clip is one of the many gems that takes the stand-up comedy trope of making fun of immigrant parents and, perhaps for the first time, switches it up. Chris does a pretty thorough, spot-on impression of his Dad and Mom roasting him.

This is one of many reasons why you should get Chris’ album later this week.

The on-going weird friendship between Conan O’Brien and Conan associate producer Jordan Schlansky got its latest chapter in last night’s Conan.

What could be just a review of the Philips Norelco Bodygroom turned into one of the more awkward exchanges between Schlansky and Conan over the years. Also, you can see an iota of excitement from Jordan, probably for the first time.

Sandy Danto Really Wants to Do His Comedy Special on a Jet Ski in a Pool on a Yacht on a 18 Wheeler Big Rig Truck

March 23, 2016

Nearly all comedy specials are just a single person on a stage talking through some form of amplification. Maria Bamford’s Special Special Special taped at her house with her parents, Harland Williams’ A Force of Nature taped in the desert, Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel’s Crash Test taped on a party bus, and even Netflix’s Characters are starting to buck that trend. However, those are only a handful of specials out of the dozens and dozens that are just someone talking in front of a crowd.

However, Sandy Danto wants to snap that trend even harder by going as big as he imagination will let him. He wants to do a comedy special in a way that would put most lavish hip hop music videos to shame (he apparently also wants to get the last bit of his wild youthful days out of his system before going forward with settling down with his family).

His idea is that he would want to be on a jet ski that’s riding in a pool that has been built into the deck of a yacht. Then, that yacht would be on an 18-wheel flat bed truck that drive across the country.

Read that back and watch his presentation video just to ensure that you didn’t read that wrong.

Knowing that such a project would actually cost millions of dollars, Sandy is only asking to raise $10K on Kickstarter for this dream special. With that money, Danto can put something together to shop around to bigger investors that might actually fork over the time, money, and resources to make this American fever dream of a comedy special a reality.

Peter Serafinowicz to Play “The Tick” in Amazon’s Reboot Pilot

(via Deadline)

Looks like Amazon has got their own set of reboots in the works to match Netflix.

Not only is The Tick being revived from being a cult favorite both as a cartoon and a live action show, but Amazon is having Peter Serafinowicz, a Brit whom you have seen in anything from Shaun of the Dead to Spy to Parks and Recreation to Guardians of the Galaxy to this pretty great dubbing of a Trump speech in posh and cockney accents, don the skin tight blue sight and likely delightfully utter, “Spoon!” a lot.

We are wondering when the reboot train might ever stop, but Serafinowicz as The Tick has definitely peaked our interest.

Nikki Glaser Runs Down a Sexual Bucket List with Couples About to Get Married

While marriage vows do usually talk about being together until death, Nikki Glaser gets into what being with one person for the rest of your life might entail sexually on the latest episode of Not Safe with Nikki Glaser.

Specifically, she went to a wedding cake shop to ask couples to check on what they have and haven’t done in the bedroom (or in many cases out of the bedroom) before they tie the knot.

There’s no doubt that the drive home after all of these interviews were at least a little awkward.

We’re guessing that if you dug Wag the Dog at all almost 20 years ago, you might be intrigued by Special Correspondents.

See for yourself in this trailer and then watch it starting Friday, April 29th.
