*Spoiler Alert*: Veep’s Jonah Ryan is attempting to make out on his own, finally, and running for Congress in the show.

Thankfully, the wonderful people at Veep made an actual campaign site complete with campaign ads that really show the top shelf buffoonery of Jonah, as exemplified in the above picture that’s on the site, that’s masterfully played by Timothy Simons.

Visit JonahRyanforCongress.com and please thoroughly enjoy how awesomely bad each and every one of these ads are.

One of the smartest things that NBC’s new variety show Maya & Marty could do was bring back co-star Martin Short’s beloved character Jiminy Glick.

In their premiere episode, they did just that and lined up the perfect first guest, Larry David, who barely contain himself during the interview.

Between this and G.L.O.W., there’s a great, new wave of female-led comedies forming.

Last year, Talya Lavie put herself on Hollywood’s map with an Office-esque comedy feature, Zero Motivation, that was set on an Israeli army base.

This year, Amy Poehler, Natasha Lyonne, Tami Sagher, and more are lending their pull as producers to adapt this into a series over at BBC America.

As BBC America is trying something new under the relatively new leadership of President and General Manager Sarah Barnett, we think they’re started off in a good direction.

At 92, Norman Lear stands as a giant in television who both revolutionized sitcoms and get America talking about issues that it might not talk about otherwise one half-hour at a time.

A full length feature documentary has just been made by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, complete with interviews, clips, and plenty of conversations with Norman himself chronicling Lear’s landmark achievements including All in the Family, Good Times, etc.

Called Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You, it might just be the must-watch comedy doc of 2016. Here’s a trailer.

Look for it in theaters starting July 8th.

Tonight, NBC moves forward in expanding its variety show line-up with Maya and Marty. Unlike SNL, it has two permanent hosts in Maya Rudolph and Martin Short and will very likely feature way more musical numbers.

For all of the iterations that this show has gone through in order to premiere tonight (i.e. a special with just Maya to a variety show headlined by just Maya), you should check the series premiere out to see what NBC has come up with.

Oh yeah, the pairing of the accomplished comedy stars that can sing and dance, Maya Rudolph and Martin Short, is definitely worth catching as well.

Maya and Marty premieres at 10PM on NBC.

From the minds of Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, a new comedy series based on a real 1980s all female wrestling league, will be coming to Netflix soon. Specifically, it’ll follow a struggling actress who stumbles into and gets caught up in this new world.

Called G.L.O.W., it should be a nice companion to Jenji Kohan’s Orange Is The New Black on the streaming service giant.

Amazon Orders a 4th Season of Transparent Before 3rd Season Even Gets a Premiere Date

It only makes sense that Amazon is continuing to back one of their biggest critical and commercial hits.

Of all of Amazon’s original series and movies, Jill Soloway’s Transparent is the winningest, most talked about, and, very likely, most watched series on Amazon’s exclusive streaming service.

The third season is in the works and premiere date has yet to be determined, but that hasn’t stopped Amazon for ordering another season, which they just announced today.

This also makes Transparent the most senior series in Amazon’s programming line-up as none of their other series have made it to 4 seasons yet.

Variety Gets Interview with Mysterious Gary Sanchez (Not Adam McKay or Will Ferrell) of “Gary Sanchez Productions”

May 30, 2016
Uncategorized
adam mckay, gary sanchez, gary sanchez productions, variety, will ferrell

Apparently, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay “didn’t” just make him up from a random name on Will’s phone.

You can think of Gary Sanchez Productions as the sibling company to Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Funny or Die that takes on more the feature film side of things in contrast to FoD’s digital and TV angle.

The namesake of the company has been shrouded in secrecy for years as the production company’s landing page says:

Gary Sanchez Productions is a film production company spearheaded by Paraguayan entrepreneur and financier Gary Sanchez. Also Americans Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Chris Henchy. Please see films so Mr. Sanchez can continue to live like king in poor, unequal country.Add Gary as a friend on Facebook! Please note: All inquiries regarding Rottweiler puppies should be directed to Mr. Sanchez’s home phone number. If you do not already have Mr. Sanchez’s home phone number, you will not be considered for the next litter. Mr. Sanchez is no longer accepting new clients.

There has even been an explanation from McKay about Sanchez just being a name and nothing more on WTF with Marc Maron.

For the first time ever, and “incidentally” on the 10th anniversary of Gary Sanchez Productions, Variety got a brief, but exclusive interview with the reclusive financier.

Such gems from the conversation include:

Variety: What has been your proudest accomplishment in your time here?
Gary Sanchez: One time I fought a man from the hills of Paraguay named Bako who was large and fearless. He had killed jaguars with a stick many times. I broke his neck while his whole village watched and cried.Oh wait, you mean my proudest accomplishment in regards to the company? That would be “Daddy’s Home,” “Eastbound and Down,” “Drunk History” and “Step Brothers.” I also think “Welcome to Me” is a gem.

Recently, a new comedy power couple has been made in the union between Natasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher.

Part of their union involved Natasha converting to the Jewish faith. Conversion from one faith to another is fascinating on its own, but it’s definitely undeniably intriguing from the perspective of a comedian doing so for another comedian.

Leggero explained the specifics, with punchlines, on Conan this past week.

We really think Food Network or the Cooking Channel is really missing out by not having Henry Phillips’ cooking show Henry’s Kitchen on in their late night/early morning programming.

Sure, the recipes may not go according to plan and the chef may seem lonelier than anyone you know, but that’s kind of what makes the show great.
