Hillary Clinton to Visit Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday August 22nd

Hillary Clinton to Visit Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday August 22nd

Given how Trump has been flailing in his controversy baiting campaign strategy ever since the conventions wrapped, this very well could be a crucial appearance for Hillary Clinton.

Even though it’s a late night talk show that engages in pranks that are seemingly on the whole country including having Donald Trump on the program, Hillary can (and hopefully will) distance herself in poll numbers, especially if she comes off as genuine as transparent about her campaign.

Sean Patton Was Paid $500 to Not Tell This Story on Viceland’s Party Legends

Not only did the great Sean Patton have one hell of a night full of unexpected twists, turns, high, lows, and more in Baton Rouge, LA, but he was paid half a G to keep his mouth shut about the events that transpired.

Well, years later, Sean has not only told the story, but he has done so on television that shared ‘round the globe on YouTube complete with animation of some of the crazier things that happened.

Watch what happened and what Sean is, so far, getting away with on the latest episode of Viceland’s PARTY LEGENDS.

Kyle Kinane and Dave Stone Talk Paranormal, Chicken, and More on Brand New Podcast “The Boogie Monster”

There’s a new podcast afoot that you should add to your very likely ever-burgeoning list of podcasts you need to/already listen to.

Odds are that if you’re reading this, you’re probably a big Kyle Kinane fan like we are. If that indeed is true, we’d be willing to bet that you’d be a fan of Dave Stone in case you’re not already. Just listen to his album Hogwash and you’ll see, hopefully, we we’re getting at here.

The two of them, Kinane and Stone, have launched a brand new podcast that dives into all things paranormal, conspiracy theory, extraterrestrial, quality fried chicken, favorite comedians, and whatever else they want the podcast to be.

The idea behind the show is that Stone, an avid believer in Bigfoot, brings up various phenomena to be examined under the fine lens of Kinane. The result is fun mix of the two real life friends, contemporaries, and compatriots going over their personal minutia (i.e. good chicken, mayonnaise, their current comedy and music obsessions) and then doing their due diligence by breaking down something like the actual “men in black”. Tomfoolery and impressive analytical thinking abound.

So, with that said, you can subscribe to The Boogie Monster on iTunes and hop on board when they’re only two episodes in.

Mike Birbiglia’s Don’t Think Twice Is Now Playing in Over 60 Cities Nationwide

Don’t Think Twice is, as it should be, expanding its theatrical release nationwide far beyond LA and NYC reaching over 60 cities across the country starting today.

The latest film from Mike Birbiglia is another showing of how great a storyteller Birbiglia really is, no matter the form. In Don’t Think Twice, deftly explores the inner workings, the lofty highs, and the heartbreaking lows of being in an improv troupe and how comedy (and, ostensibly, life) doesn’t always work out no matter how much hope you have. The cast comprised of real life comedy all stars (Birbiglia, Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, Chris Gethard, Kate Micucci, and Tami Sagher) delivers as you’d expect them to and their performance really tow the film swinging from hysterical to unflinching without seeming forced at all.

So, go watch it as soon you can especially since there are so many more chances to do so now.

Donald Glover’s Atlanta Finally Gets a Full Trailer

After several months of teases and promos, the hip hop dramedy Atlanta from Donald Glover has finally got a full trailer that really shows off all the colors the show will be painting with on the canvas of Atlanta’s hip hop scene.

With Empire already being well established at this point, Atlanta looks like, from the trailer, it could definitely be a more nuanced and satirical contemporary.

Look for the series premiere of Atlanta on September 6th on FX.

Kate McKinnon, Tracee Ellis Ross, Samantha Bee, Niecy Nash, and Allison Janney Sound Off on “Why Men Aren’t Funny”

This is a nice counterpoint to that infamous, inflammatory, and completely unnecessary Christopher Hitchens essay from 2007 voiced by some of the most notable funny people around today that just happen to be women.

Sure, 2007 was almost a decade ago and there has always been evidence against Hitchens, but it’s always fun to skewer his Why Women Aren’t Funny piece every once in awhile.

Horrible “Ecce Homo” Restoration Is Getting Its Own Comic Opera

Three years ago, an old churchgoer in Spain tried, with permission, to restore a fresco depicting Jesus Christ, despite not being particularly skilled in such areas of expertise.

Little did Doña Cecilia Giménez know that her botched restoration would become a viral Internet sensation that would make her town famous.

Now, the whole fiasco will captured in a comedic opera in Spain written by two Americans and you can only hope that the show might find its way to Broadway or maybe Fathom Events in order to see it.

Whether or not you’re watching the Rio Olympics, you should give Garbage Time with Katie Nolan’s segment where her and guest Adam Pally take guesses on whether certain numbers regarding certain Olympics facts are over or under the actual, factual number.

In case you weren’t aware, sports and comedy intersect quite nicely thanks to Katie Nolan and her team at Garbage Time.

Showtime Orders Frankie Shaw Comedy Pilot ‘SMILF’ Based on Her Short Film | Deadline

Among other great moves that Showtime is making right now, one is giving a Frankie Shaw a pilot order for SMILF (acronym for Single Mother I’d Like To F*ck) based on her critically acclaimed short film of the same name.

SMILF follows Shaw’s life as a young single mother who still wants to follow all of her desires, but has to balance them with the reality of having a son on her own.

If this goes to series (and we hope it does), it will be intriguing to see this side-by-side with FX’s single mother dramedy, Better Things.

Stephen Colbert Will Cover Election Night Live on Showtime Instead of Late Show on CBS

Stephen Colbert Will Cover Election Night Live on Showtime Instead of Late Show on CBS

That’s right, Stephen Colbert will get to take a night to go from network to premium cable to cover election night live in November as the results come in. It’s an interesting move that might prove useful to building the reputation of The Late Show under Stephen Colbert as Stephen will probably get to flex his satirical muscles a little more, if not a lot, on Showtime.

You should definitely expect Stephen Colbert to make use of the fact that he’s on Showtime rather than CBS (i.e. letting expletives fly freely).

It may just be an election year, but it does seem like Stephen is doing a lot of live episodes lately and benefitting from it.

The Baseball Card Vandals Make Baseball Cards (and Trading Cards of All Kinds) Fun Again

One day, two brothers, Beau and Bryan Abbott, came to the realization that the collection of baseball cards were not going to amount to the baseball card fortunes of yesteryear. Knowing that, they just started what any two brothers looking for a good laugh might do and started drawing on them with sharpies, not unlike one would do in a school textbook that one hated.

Thus, The Baseball Card Vandals were born. Their pastime has escalated into a whole brand over the years that has expanded past baseball cards and ‘vandalizes’ all sorts of trading cards.

Though it’s out of left field (pun intended), the results of their comedic outsider art are pretty fun as you can see above and below.

You can follow the Baseball Card Vandals on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, as well as buy merch (cards, shirts, etc.)

This latest episode with Jim Gaffigan as a guest is another perfect example of that. Watch it here.

Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher, a comedy couple that we’ve been big fans of ever since they moved here to LA, have their brand new scripted series debuting today.

Take My Wife is a really great snapshot (we saw and really enjoyed two episodes earlier this week) of their lives as comedians at different stages in their career, women and LGBTQ people in comedy, and a couple trying to figure out their life together that’s both very personal and charming (i.e. Cameron and Rhea’s wonderful brand of comedy). Also, know that Laura Kightlinger plays a weird neighbor and it’s icing on top of this cake.

The series is now streaming at Seeso, but you can a free preview of the whole first episode, courtesy of Seeso, on YouTube.

R.I.P. Alison Rich, Nicole Byer, and Jessica McKenna’s sketch series that we wish had more time to get on its legs because there was definite promise in the show.

We’re sure that you’ll be seeing the three of them elsewhere on big and small screens very soon. In fact, Nicole already has her own show coming out on MTV, Loosely Exactly Nicole.

Season 3 of ‘You’re the Worst’ Season 3 To Have More  Jimmy, Edgar’s PTSD, Sex, and Lindsay’s Dark Side | Hollywood Reporter

That being said, all these details, which somehow promises to organically delve even further into the flaws that make Jimmy, Gretchen, Edgar, and Lindsay great, make us even more on board for new episodes that start airing on Wednesday, August 31st on FXX.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Will Go Live Again After Presidential and VP Debates

So, if Colbert and company are going to follow the model that brought them up during the RNC and DNC, expect more Colbert Report-ish elements cleverly renamed for legal reasons. Since they’re spaced apart rather than day-after-day, we’d bet The Late Show team will have the time to put together song and dance numbers, elaborate pre-taped segments, etc.

You should definitely expect to see Stephen Colbert’s identical twin cousin, Stephen Colbert in one of, if not all of, these three live episodes.
