Freeform Developing Late Night Series with Iliza Shlesinger

Well, if everything goes according to Freeform’s plan, there will be three female hosts in late night.

Details are sparse at this point, probably because cable network Freeform sees that there is plenty of shows that follow the traditional late night talk show format and they want to work with Iliza Shlesinger to develop something that caters to her comedy.

So, thankfully, the boys club is becoming a boys club less and less everyday.

FXx Is Doing Part 2 of Their Every. Simpsons. Ever. Marathon

They’re going to break their own TV marathon record simply by adding all of the new episodes of The Simpsons that have aired since the last Every. Simpsons. Ever.

This Thanksgiving, specifically Thursday, November 24th at 9AM PDT, FXx will revive one of the most successful ventures to date by airing every single episode of The Simpsons in existence back-to-back-to-back. That will take this marathon to Tuesday, December 6th at 9PM PDT.

Even though this is two months away, make plans accordingly.

It’s only in its third season, but Transparent already carries the distinction of being decorated and critically acclaimed like a show much senior to itself.

Season 3 has just started streaming over Amazon and we don’t doubt that creator Jill Soloway will keep her streak going.

Just see what happens when Gaby Hoffmann’s Ali goes to the dentist.

Aparna Nancherla and Jo Firestone had a hell of a run for their first season of Womanhood, their life advice series for women on RIOT.

Awkward looks, pauses, and Aparna and Jo’s magical goofiness make the both of them kind of irresistible.

So, for their second season of Womanhood, it looks like they’re going to amplify all of that in the best way possible.

Watch how Aparna and Jo try to manage to reach the end of a children’s dance class for the first episode and you’ll agree that America might have a new hosting duo on its hands.

Austin based comedian Eric Krug has just released his first comedy album, Double Speak, off of Austin based comedy record label, Sure Thing Records.

Over a well-crafted hour, Krug does himself (and comedy out of ATX) proud. What we specifically dig about the album is how dark the album opens, his observations from being a veteran from this millennium, and Eric’s fascination with presidential history.

It’s a good reason for you to remember Krug’s name and pay attention to Austin’s comedy scene.

Get Double Speak off iTunes here.

Without a question, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail are going out on top.

It was widely agreed as one of the best live comedy shows in the country and got to do three seasons as a TV series on Comedy Central. Certainly, we feel privileged seeing the show from the very start grow into this beautiful, undeniable institution in the LA comedy scene.

“After six years of putting our blood, sweat, and urine into a live show every Wednesday, we have decided that it’s time to hang up our spurs on The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail. When we started this thing in 2010, we only wanted a fun place to do comedy and hang out with our friends.”
-Jonah/Kumail/Emily/Ed

We know there’s still more than a few weeks to go, but we still salute you Meltdown.

Their last show is on October 19th and you can find out more details here.

From the characters to the music, The Simpsons do another crossover couch gag right (not that it should surprise anyone at this point).

A Web Series from John Early and Kate Berlant and a Special from South Africa’s Loyiso Gola in Production at Vimeo

Vimeo continues to be on brand with their high-minded picks in comedy.

John Early and Kate Berlant are working on their own short form series that will be released exclusively on Vimeo, which doesn’t need any more details to get you intrigued. You’ve probably seen them do work solo on Netflix’s Characters and together in such works as Dinner Party.

While Trevor Noah is making waves as the host of The Daily Show, South Africa has another comedy export coming our way in the form of a stand up special from another one of their biggest comedians, Loyiso Gola. Set to tape next week on Wednesday, September 28th at House of Yes in Brooklyn. Tickets available here.

We’re going to keep our fingers crossed that Vimeo’s only going to keep goind down this road of making their own comedy.

For this week, Seeso’s new release is an absurd debate series hosted by none other than Michael Ian Black called Debate Wars.

Comedians are pitted against each other in, you guessed it, a debate of such random, but oft-discussed topics like “cake vs. pie”

You can see Jena Friedman defend cake beautifully here.

After that, stream whole episodes of Debate Wars now over at Seeso.

Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis: Hillary Clinton from Hillary Clinton

You know the drill by now.

One of the funniest web series of all time has one of the most powerful people in the world essentially go through a round of back-and-forth roast jokes and it’s great.

This latest edition with Hillary Clinton is no exception to said drill and we definitely undid the damage of that Pokemon Go pun that Clinton used from a few weeks back.

CBS Greenlights ‘Superior Donuts’ for Midseason Debut

As it had to go through being a pilot twice, we were worried for a second that Jermaine Fowler’s sitcom wasn’t going to see the light of a TV screen.

That’s right, Superior Donuts, starring Fowler and Judd Hirsch will go to series midseason for 13 episodes. Knowing how much truth finds itself in Jermaine’s comedy, we hope that this will be another multicam that just break the mold of all the multicams of yesteryear, especially given how much the rest of CBS’ new comedies represent those types of sitcoms.

Oh, the supporting cast also boasts the likes of David Koechner, Katey Sagal, Maz Jobrani, Anna Baryshnikov, Darien Sills-Evans, and Rell Battle.

We can’t wait to see what this becomes when it premieres.

We said we wanted another version of Tough Crowd on Comedy Central and the comedy gods listened.

It’s aptly called Problematic with Moshe Kasher and Moshe will be leading the way through each episode, injecting the funny where people might normally lean towards biting each other’s heads off.

If you’ve listened to Hound Tall with Moshe Kasher and listened to how Moshe breaks down hot button topics in his own stand-up, you’ll know that there’s more than plenty of promise here.

Flowers Renewed by Both Seeso and Channel 4

The less time it takes to watch comedy series from the UK here in the States, the better.

The cinematic dark family comedy Flowers has got another season ordered by its distributors in the U.S. and the UK, which are Seeso and Channel 4 respectively.

Along with Fleabag and Catastrophe, the sharing of comedy between both sides of the Atlantic is going better than it has been in quite some time.

There may be very few people that are as high in status, revered, and have as many insane stories in comedy quite like Norm MacDonald.

Even as a “tell some” book, Norm’s still got a wild ride of a life through SNL, stand-up, insane gambling debts, etc. that probably could make for a whole series of books.

All of that is captured on the page by Norm himself in Based on a True Story, which just happens to be now available from Random House Books.

In Honor of C. Martin Croker, Adult Swim Puts Almost Every Episode of Space Ghost Coast To Coast Online for Free

RIP the voice of Zorak and Moltar.

One of the many precursors to the Adult Swim that so many of us know and love now was Cartoon Network’s Space Ghost Coast to Coast. The off-beat animated talk show with cartoon super heroes and villains set in space helped spark the weird fire that grew into the Adult Swim corner of Cartoon Network.

Unfortunately, animator and voice actor C. Martin Croker recently passed and Adult Swim wanted to honor his legacy by putting nearly the entire series of Space Ghost Coast to Coast online here.

If you somehow needed a reason to binge watch Space Ghost, you certainly have one now.
