OK, go ahead and get any and all Back to the Future puns out of your system so you can enjoy the good news that Futurama is being revived once more, this time at Hulu.

Hulu ordered up 20 episodes of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen’s worthy younger sibling to The Simpsons with the voices of Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman all coming back. This will be the 11th season of the show when it premieres next year.

In regards to this revival of the series, which, given that we kind of live in a future we imagined here in 2022, feel so timely, Cohen commented, “I’m thrilled to have another chance to think about the future… or really anything other than the present.” Groening added, “It’s a true honor to announce the triumphant return of Futurama one more time before we get canceled abruptly again.”

So, get out your Fry “shut up and take my money” memes at the ready, especially if you don’t have a Hulu subscription.

Amongst the wave of things that were unveiled during Comic-Con this weekend, Matt Groening’s newest series, Disenchanted, debuted its first trailer.

It’s the ultra clever comedy you’ve come to expect from the creator of The Simpsons, this time set in a fantasy world in the past. Though, as was the case of the distant future of Futurama, plenty of jokes will be plenty to relevant to the present day real world. We didn’t get to see much of it in the trailer, but we hope that there will be lots of signage humor in Disenchanted.

See all of this for yourself here and look for all episodes to start streaming on Netflix on Friday, August 17th.

Futurama Has New, Special Episode via Nerdist Podcast That’s All About the “Apocalyptic” Future of Podcasts with Chris Hardwick Voicing the Villain

Before you even ask–yes, original cast members and writers were responsible for this latest incarnation of the never-really-dead Futurama on the latest episode of The Nerdist Podcast.

There’s plenty to enjoy here as Chris Hardwick is a “podcast super villain”, an additional storyline about a classic show trying to live on in a podcast, and, of course, plenty of fake future ads.

Listen in here.

Matt Groening, Creator of The Simpsons, Is Bringing His Next Series, Disenchantment, to Netflix

Netflix scores another huge get and, yet again, ups their comedy brand even higher than it already is.

Disenchantment not only comes in with a big, out-of-the-gate 20 episode order and Matt Groening at the helm, but also will include the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon, Eric Andre, John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche (that’s looking at you, Futurama diehards), Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.

The show will “follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.”

Sounds like it’ll fit quite perfectly next to Netflix’s other animated series, BoJack Horseman and F Is For Family.

Look for Disenchantment (the series and not just in general) to start streaming next year.

Season 28 of The Simpsons is only a few days away (Sunday, September 25th at 8PM on Fox) and to start off the season big, they’ve made their very first couch gag in the style of another highly regarded animated series, Adventure Time.

From the characters to the music, The Simpsons do another crossover couch gag right (not that it should surprise anyone at this point).
