Larry Wilmore Will Get Continue the Work He Started with “The Nightly Show” with a New Podcast “Black on the Air”

It might seem eons ago that The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore was yanked off the air, but it was only less than a year ago, in the election year of all election years no less, that Wilmore’s run in replacing The Colbert Report came to an end.

Yet, Wilmore impression on the media landscape was too good to fade away for good. Bill Simmons’ Ringer podcast network has thus given Larry Wilmore a podcast where he’ll get to talk politics, entertainment, culture, sports, and beyond as well interview folks like Norman Lear, Bernie Sanders, and Neil deGrasse Tyson (i.e. kind of what he was doing at The Nightly Show).

Called “Black on the Air”, it gets released this Thursday, May 11th. Here’s Bill and Larry giving the official announcement.

The Dollop’s Book “The United States of Absurdity” Out Now

The Dollop is absolutely one of our all-time favorite podcasts around. The riffing and the unbelievable tales from the hidden archives of American history that are dug up make for pure comedy gold.

Now, Dave and Gareth have just come out with a book to accompany the podcast that include full page illustrations, which should even further bring to life all those stories that are so absurd that wrapping your head around them is almost absurd in of itself.

So, with that said, please get The United States of Absurdity: Untold Stories from American History for you, a loved one, or even a not-so loved one here.

As the book is a special kind of “how-to” book, there’d have to be an episode about who knocks, right?

“Psych” Is Being Brought Back in the Form of a Holiday Movie

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen both Psych and a new holiday movie based on a TV series that has our curiosity peaked.

Given the trend of non-traditional detectives that have followed since Psych was on the air, one has to wonder how this will hold up or how much USA Network will update it to fit into today’s Golden Age TV landscape.

This is Jesse Popp’s sophomore album and it has become clear that he has a knack for hiding the seams of his bits.

On, “I Am The Best”, just released this week off of Capsule Records, Popp shows off what it is to make great, succinct observational comedy in 2017. He delivered his jokes in such a casual, low key manner that the comedic twist is often more surprising than it would be with any other sort of cadence or delivery.

So, get I Am The Best off of iTunes here.

Comedian (specifically what we’d like to dub as “gonzo comedian” as he becomes part of the joke he’s making), storyteller, actor, and performance artist Moses Storm has just released his latest piece where he hysterically tries to cheat running the LA Marathon for bragging rights.

At the risk of giving anything away or sounded more convoluted, we’ll let you enjoy Moses comedic genius right now.

Please watch CHEATING A MARATHON here.

NOTE: This video will be only up for 24 hours from the time it was posted, which means you have the rest of the afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow morning to watch it.

Complaints Have Led FCC to Investigate Stephen Colbert Over Donald Trump (Not Really) Controversial Monologue Joke This Week

By now, you’ve probably caught wind of #FireColbert controversy, which has a certain group of people up in arms against Colbert for this line about Trump:

“…the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c— holster.” Watch the whole monologue here.

There have been accusations that the joke is homophobic, which we vehemently disagree with. The joke may be blue, but it hardly comes across as reflecting negatively on the sexual congress of the LGBTQ community. Even with that line taken out of context and transcribed here, the idea that Colbert should be sacked for this is ludicrous and sounds more like cries from people who already hate Colbert and we’re looking for a reason to launch a #FireColbert hashtag.

The new FCC Chairman Ajit Pai commented on the incident, “It’s a free country, and people are willing and able to say anything these days.” Yet, Pai and the FCC have somewhat changed their tune and will now be looking into the joke and whether it falls under “decency rules” in response to a number of complaints that the FCC has gotten about the joke.

We personally weren’t even going to write anything about this because we saw controversy being made where there wasn’t any controversy to be made.

However, Pai (who was promoted to FCC Chairman by Trump after Tom Wheeler stepped down) announcing that they will be officially looking into the monologue, after he was clearly aware of the “situation” and pretty much dismissed it, seems problematic and unnecessary.

Amazon Is Developing a New Comedy Where Jeff Goldblum and Danny DeVito to Star as Ex-Music Duo That’s Forced to Get Back Together

A premise where ex-partners from a creative partnership is well trodden territory, but the pairing of Goldblum and DeVito in this project from Simpsons writer Tim Long is pretty tantalizing. Also, since they’re a music duo, Goldblum will probably be belting out tunes plenty if this goes to series, which will undoubtedly be icing on the cake.

We have to admit that picturing DeVito and Goldblum standing next to each other already kind of makes us laugh.

Since launching our experience on Airbnb, the “Comedy Bureau Ride Along”, we’ve had guests from here in the U.S. as well as the U.K. and the Middle East.

Their thoughts on the experience:

“Jake was an amazing host, it was great hanging out with a local comedian and having a glimpse at the standup comedy community in LA. I would definitely book this experience again!”

“Expert guidance from a local celebrity. Jake will be able to answer any question you throw at him, and pretty much guarantees you a good time. Highly recommended.”

Both gave five out of five stars.

Honestly, it’s been quite the privilege to share the LA comedy scene with folks from around the globe that might have not gotten to see it otherwise.

Oh, by the way, we’ve got dates available if you want to book an evening with us.
