The podcast that revisits Daria, Sicker Sadder World, is going live at The Ace Hotel in DTLA. Hosts Brittany Ashley and Laura Zack along with guests Gaby Dunn, Navid Sinaki, and Ira Madison III will actually watch an episode of Daria and then chat about it afterwards.

It’ll be a pretty great evening to revel in 90s nostalgia, specifically what might be one of your favorite things from the 90s, Daria.

Best of all, it’s free to attend with RSVP, which you can take care of here.

Sarah Silverman Wants to Connect with Un-Like-Minded People in Her Topical Hulu Show “I Love You, America”

Commenting on the upcoming show at the TCAs today, Silverman wants to make a point of trying to engage and connect with people that aren’t anywhere near her perspective, ideologies, and attitudes.

While other shows in late night do try that approach from time-to-time, it would seem that they will be a central tenet of “I Love You, America”.

Silverman might just pull off what Russell Brand’s Brand X ultimately could not if executed correctly.

In many ways, Jimmy and Gretchen are right back where they first started and, of course, seemingly ready to wildly and romantically crash into each other again.

Their separate renditions of Tainted Love in this trailer make for a great place to pick up for season 4 of You’re The Worst, which premieres Wednesday, September 6th at 10PM on FXx.

Somehow, it would seem that series creator Jill Soloway figures out a way to get more ambitious with Transparent without sacrificing the show’s integrity.

Doing that probably helps with the awards and accolades.

See for yourself in the full season 4 trailer, then look for episodes to start streaming on Amazon Prime on Friday, September 22nd.

Joe Mande and Super Deluxe Are Developing a Joanne the Scammer TV Show

Branden Miller, better known as Joanne The Scammer, has made quite the ruckus with the marvelously infamous character online and will now, apparently, be getting a chance to possibly do a TV show.

Miller won’t be alone in trying to have a Joanne The Scammer TV series though as the very accomplished TV writer/comedian Joe Mande and the creative team at Super Deluxe are on board, helping shape the project before it makes the rounds to potentially get bought up.

In the meantime, you can go down a rabbit hole where this all might have started on Joanne the Scammer’s Instagram here.

Watch Trailer for Hari Kondabolu’s Documentary “The Problem With Apu” Exploring the Problematic Nature of The Simpsons’ Character, Apu

In 2017, you’re hopefully aware of the issues of cultural appropriation and diverse representation on screen.

Apu, the long running Simpsons character, is a flashpoint for such issues as he is voiced by a non-Indian actor, Hank Azaria, in a way that many Indians find offensive and belittling, especially given how revered The Simpsons is a TV show.

So, Hari Kondabolu felt he needed to make a documentary focusing on this very subject. Thus, The Problem With Apu was made.

The trailer definitely makes you rethink how you watch The Simpsons if you weren’t already.

Look for the documentary to air on TruTV this fall.

Not only is Room 104 set in one room, but Jay and Mark Duplass set up rules where they couldn’t leave the show couldn’t leave the room at all, they had to shoot an episode in three days with no more than three actors, and made sure that each episode will be done in a different style.

Sound fascinating? Good.

Tune in to the series premiere tonight at 11:30PM on HBO.

Colbert’s Cartoon Trump to Get Its Own Show on Showtime

As a sitting U.S. President, Trump might just have broken new ground by provoking two major cable TV networks to order series that portray a clearly negative version of him even though he’s the lead character. We’re pretty sure that has never happened to any other U.S. President.

Yet, The President Show on Comedy Central and this newly ordered ‘Cartoon Trump’ spin-off from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s Cartoon Trump segments on Showtime furthers Trump being in a class that’s all his own.

Both Colbert and Late Show’s Chris Licht will be helming the project.

TBS Renews Angie Tribeca for 4th Season

We’re thrilled to see that the Carells’ Angie Tribeca will be still proudly holding the torch for unapologetically silly comedy in a television landscape full of dramedy and dark comedy for another year.

FYI, this 10-episode, 4th season is slated to come around next year on TBS.

Funny or Die’s “Pitch” App Aims to Streamline Making Money and Moving Up in Comedy Writing

Basically, Matt Klinman, Pitch’s creator, has made a sort of digital writers room for specific topics, ad campaigns, etc. where, if invited, you stand to possibly make money from writing jokes, humorous copy, and the like based on the performance (i.e. likes) of whatever you write.

The app will launch at JFL Montreal this weekend and is, again, invite only.

However, we’re thoroughly intrigued to see where this might go and how it possibly might provide a path to those who follow the writing path in comedy. If you can get in on “Pitch” somehow, you might want to try it out.

Harmon, Roiland, and company talk the motivations behind the premiere episode as well as the design of a Mad Max parody that they’re doing.

Keep in mind that you only have to wait until Sunday night on Adult Swim before season 3 arrives.

Monthly a house in Silverlake gets turned into a ridiculous “drinking game” comedy show/house party with Brew Haha. Hundreds of folks come out and it seriously looks and feels like you’re in one of those great parties that you’d only see in movies.

Brew Haha will now be trying their hand down in the OC at the Rec Room in Huntington Beach this Saturday, July 29th with a fine line-up of Allen Strickland Williams, Steph Tolev, Morgan Jay, Steve Hernandez, and Brad Silnutzer.

Tickets are $5-$10 and you can (and should) get them here.

A Score and 1 Year Later, Jon Stewart Lines Up His Next Two Stand-Up Specials at HBO

If you listen closely, you can hear the giant sigh of relief from HBO as these are two big time comedy specials that didn’t go to Netflix.

Before his stint in changing comedy, late night, television, and the entertainment landscape in general at The Daily Show, Jon Stewart made his name through doing stand-up comedy. He had specials, his last one being from HBO 21 years ago, under his belt. Being the host and face of The Daily Show for all those year just took time away from him getting up on a mic regularly.

His animated project at HBO didn’t quite work out, but we are more than happy to see a Jon Stewart comedy special or two (or three if you count him hosting another round of Night of Too Many Stars) in the not so distant future.

We got to see this extremely fun show, Dungeon, awhile ago and it really has stand-up comedians taking the reins to a streamlined version of Dungeons & Dragons. More often than not, that means they play for what might be funnier rather than what’s prudent and wise on their quest.

John-Michael Bond hosts as a Dungeon Master and really blends stand-up and D&D almost seamlessly with this show. This latest edition this Sunday, July 30th will feature a great line-up of Jordan Temple, Kaseem Bentley, Jordan Doll, Barbara Gray and Christine Medrano.

Please get tickets here.

Bob’s Burgers Season 8 to Have Very First Holiday Special and a Completely Fan Drawn Episode for the Premiere

Announced at Comic Con this past weekend, Loren Bouchard and company have even more fun than usual planned for the latest season of Bob’s Burgers. It’s kind of surprising to think that they haven’t done a holiday special yet, but it’s crazier to think that they’ll kick off season 8 with a crowdsourced episode.

Look for this new Bob’s Burgers to start on Sunday, October 1st on Fox.

OK, if you think about it, it’s not that far away.

Two of Comedy Central most acclaimed series, Nathan For You and Broad City, are set to return for their fourth seasons in two months, give or take a couple of weeks.

Broad City is set for a return on Wednesday, September 13th at 10:30PM and Nathan for You is set for Thursday, September 28th with an hour long special “Nathan for You: A Celebration” where Fielder follows up with those small businesses that he has “helped” over the years.

If it helps the wait, maybe you should start a countdown for both?
