Pick of the Day: Santé D’Or Presents The Comedy For Kittens Cat-Astrophe Fund Show!

There is so much in this world that needs saving right now, especially if it was something that needed to be saved before COVID-19 took hold of the world. The Santé D’Or Foundation in Los Angeles does so much as a volunteer run animal adoption agency and often does comedy benefit shows to support their efforts.

With the presence of the pandemic, rescue animals needing to find a home is more crucial than ever as space and staff to take care of them is extremely limited.  So, they are still doing a benefit show, Comedy for Kittens Cat-astrophe Fund Show, but doing so virtually with the lovely aid of Dynasty Typewriter.

Thurs. Aug. 27th at 6PM PT/9PM ET, a line-up of NIKKI GLASER (Netflix),  KURT BRAUNOHLER (The Big Sick), PAIGE WELDON (Late Late Show with James Corden), CHRISTINA CATHERINE MARTINEZ(FX’s Cake) , and KEVIN TIT(Hard Times) wash over you, and revel in the musical reprieves by COLLEEN GREEN and ZACH CARPER (FIDLAR) will join host JARED LOGAN (Best Week Ever) for this special evening in support of Santé D’Or.

Tickets are $5-$20 and you can (and should) go get them here (live-stream link will be sent after purchase).

The backroom of the Blue Rooster Art Supplies was poised to be the heir apparent to Nerdmelt @ Meltdown. Alas, such a fate was not to come to pass as construction and expansion will prohibit the space from being a live venue.

Thus, Faded, On Deck, live tapings of All Fantasy Everything, and more will be moving on to a new home in the Mid City Arts Center next month.

However, before they go, they’re throwing a big farewell this Saturday in the form of an all female comedy marathon featuring 30 of LA’s best female comedians telling one joke. Signature Drink, another Blue Rooster show alum, and its hosts Courtney Karwal and Megan Gailey will be presiding over what should be quite the swan song.

Seriously, this would be a show that you shouldn’t miss without the whole prospect of a venue closing. As this is a living wake of sorts, it’s even more imperative that you enjoy yourself at a damn fine stand-up show.

Paige Weldon Makes a Great Late Night Debut on Corden

The Late Late Show with James Corden is really picking up the slack for stand-up comedy being featured on late night in 2019. They’ve already had four sets this month alone including this late night debut of the wonderful Paige Weldon.

Paige is definitely one of those comics whose rise we’ve been following for years in LA (go get Girlfriend at the Time by the way) and we’re so glad to see her it kill it, especially in her own low key way, on Corden.

So, please enjoy her set here.

IfNotNow is a national movement of young American Jews working to transform our community’s support for the Israeli Occupation into a call for freedom and dignity for all Palestinians and Israelis.

There are so many benefit shows these days that are supporting so many causes. Working towards a resolution and peace between Israel and Palestine is definitely such a cause and this show, with a terrific line-up, is definitely not one to miss.

Tickets are $18 and you should go get them here.

This short film, written by and starring Finn Straley and Paige Weldon, seems plucked out of a classic, timeless ensemble and/or romantic comedy.

Rather than pontificating on that notion, we’ll let the short film do the rest.

Watch and enjoy here.

A delight within the LA scene, Paige Weldon, is recording a whole comedy album about two weeks.

It’s free to attend AND you’ll get to sit in pews within a Chinese restaurant. Also, they’re so great guests on the show as well as you can see above.

One of LA’s long running comedy house shows, Comedy Living Room, is now being done in VR coming up this week through JASH and AltspaceVR.

The line-up is pretty fantastic and with someone like Paul Scheer on the show, you’ve got to wonder what shenanigans he’ll try to pull with it being a VR comedy house show.

Also, to all of those without a VR headset, you can enjoy the show on your desktop or laptop computer.

While the Kama Sutra has been a go to for hundreds of years when looking to bring some excitement and variety into the bedroom, the newly published Drama Sutra, written by and illustrated by Paige Weldon, is a sex guide for those who are more likely to have “all the feels” rather than just have the sort of sex that people only dream about after reading something like Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s more honest, realistic sex as you can see from the cover art above.

You can get The Drama Sutra now for $5 off of The Devastator.
