Early evening this Saturday in Los Angeles, should be quite lovely (and explicitly not at all hot), making, perhaps for wonderful conditions to see a free comedy show in a garden at someone’s home.

So, if that’s up your alley, you should definitely go to the latest edition of Garden Party, hosted by Rachele Friedland and Robyn Morrison.

Get more details here.

Coming soon from our “personal archives” (in collaboration from our good, good friends at AST Records) will be our very first compilation album, Comedians of Interest: Vol. 1.

It’s a collection of “secret” recordings at various “hidden” locations in the LA comedy scene of the comedians that you need to most be on the lookout for.

We’ll be releasing details (as well as an album release show/party that coincides with our 7th Anniversary) over the coming weeks.

For now, we can only tell you that Comedians of Interest: Vol. 1 will be released to the public on Friday, October, 20th.

Nikki Black and Nina Tarr’s It’s Your Funeral really does feature live eulogies of audience members that have not yet left this mortal coil after a brief interview by featured comedians.

If you wanted a fun preview of what a living funeral might be like, this is absolutely for you, especially for the fact that Black and Tarr play two charming Jersey Girls who love the macabre.

The latest edition of It’s Your Funeral is happening this week at Think Tank Gallery. Get more details here.

In case you didn’t know, Orange County does have its own cool, arthouse/revival theater: The Frida Cinema.

As you can see above, all September long, they’ll be doing a Wes Anderson Month that you ought to not miss. There’s no doubt in our minds that stepping back into the worlds of Wes Anderson sounds pretty nice right now.

Admission to screenings at Frida are $10 and $7 for members. Get more details and tickets here.

If you’re wondering what people are doing at the edges of comedy in terms of experimenting with the form, challenging methods, etc., you might want to check out The Idiot Hub.

The Idiot Hub is an absurdist comedy collective, started by one John Gilkey, that likes to peel back every convention and trope of comedy that they can in favor of something silly and visceral. Starting off in 2013 as the ensemble known as Wet The Hippo, they have since expanded into other shows that you might have heard or seen around LA such such as The Murge and The Vivian Beckley Performing Arts Players and classes.

Typical performances will have a very sizable cast and aim to be more interactive, very physical, defy expectation, and be absent of a “fourth wall”. For instance, The Murge will have Gilkey pick and guide/heckle players into some sort of crazy bit as if a stand-up was directing a very otherworldly improv scene.

The Murge and The Vivian Beckley Performing Arts Players will be doing their next show at The Think Tank Gallery in Downtown LA as part of Drinkin’ Smokin’ & West Coastin’ on Saturday September 9th starting at 9PM.

Tickets are $17-$23 and you can (and should) get them here.

The latest edition is coming back to the Hollywood Improv Comedy Lab next week and tickets are only $5.

On Sunday nights, there’s a good chance you might find us at Bigfoot Lodge East for our last stop of the evening, Babe Island.

Tonight, there unfortunately will be no Babe Island at said Bigfoot Lodge as ASW, Androsky, Gborie, and Fritz are moving their show one neighborhood over to Bar Angeles (AKA The Elliott Smith Bar at 4330 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA) two weeks from now on Sunday, September 10th.

Per usual, they stacked the line-up with LA favorites: Jon Daly, Alex & Jude, Richard Bain, Billy Bonnell, and Amy Silverberg.

Except for the location change, it should be business as usual with the show starting around 10PM and there being no cover or minimum.
