Truly, it only seems like a little while ago that a super cool variety show called The Super Serious Show started up in a super cool photo studio and provided a stellar variety showcase of stand-up, short film, characters, music, and more.

Yet, almost 9 years later, The Super Serious Show, now at the also super cool Virgil, continues to stand as that same stellar, very diverse, carefully handpicked comedy variety showcase we really love.

For their 9 year mark, they’re really bringing the goods as you can see in the 9 year anniversary line-up above. Don’t miss out on helping them celebrating 9 years and seeing a great, great comedy show.

You’re going to want to get your tickets ASAP ($7 in adv., $10 at door-cash only). Do so here.

We’ve got a good feeling that this show, The Professionals*, will be kind of like Tough Crowd with a modern twist (a thing we’ve been wishing would happen for awhile). Whether the comedians on the panel end up pulling off sounding like professionals outside of their areas of expertise or not, it’s an amazing line-up worthy of going to see do pretty much anything (we mean, just look at it).

Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Go get them quick here.

While it’s sad to see one of the all-time best storytelling podcasts, The Crabfeast, come to an end, you have almost nothing to worry about as both hosts Ryan Sickler and Jay Larson will be doing their own storytelling-driven podcasts.

For starters, Ryan Sickler will be finding the stories of shortcomings, failures, hard times, etc. with hilarious guests and sharing them on his new podcast, The HoneyDew. Taking a listen to the first episode with Josh Adam Meyers, it’s clear Sickler won’t have lost a single step since the Crabfeast ended. It’s reveling in the “honeydew”, perfectly good fruit, that always seems to get passed up.

Take and listen and subscribe to The HoneyDew on iTunes or wherever you listen to podcasts. If you subscribed to the Crabfeast, the feed has changed over already.

Ryan Sickler’s Reaffirms His Mastery of Storytelling with “Get a Hold of Yourself”

On stage as a stand-up, on The Crabfeast podcast, and even behind-the-scenes at the storytelling series This Is Not Happening, Ryan Sickler has made himself an undeniable presence when it comes to comedic storytelling.

So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that his new album Get a Hold of Yourself is a finely aged bottled of stories tapped from Sickler’s personal reserves about his family, drugs, and the infamous roller coaster Tatsu. When hearing them, there’s a timeless feel to the way he weaves details together, his perfectly measured timing, the smooth, deep sound of his voice that make it so you can’t help but want to sit and listen and not really want to do anything else.

So, go get Ryan Sickler’s Get a Hold of Yourself available now from Blonde Medicine here.

The CrabFeast with Ryan Sickler and Jay Larson Is Coming to an End in 2018

One of our all time favorite podcasts The CrabFeast (it’s probably one of the best storytelling podcasts around too) is indeed coming to an end. Announced last night, hosts Ryan Sickler and Jay Larson will end their run of well over 300 episodes in December of this year.

It’s sad to see such a fantastic show go, but rest assured that Sickler and Larson will be continue putting stuff out there including their own individual podcasts in the not so distant future.

Oh, if you haven’t gotten into The CrabFeast, do yourself a favor and get into it as soon as you can.

Crabfeast hosts Ryan Sickler and Jay Larson are finally making good on their challenge of how far they can hit a baseball with the CrabFeast Home Run Derby this weekend in Santa Monica. It’s free to attend and there will, of course, be comedians giving color commentary. Flyer by Geoff Tice.

Not only is riffing/hanging out between Pete Holmes, Jay Larson, and Ryan Sickler on The Pete Holmes Show a good time, but watching them concluding that there is no good way to break up with someone is a bonus.
