A Revival of Party Down Is In The Works at Starz

Henry’s torturous catch phrase “Are we having fun yet?” has been a sentiment that has been ringing in our head as capturing the spirit of remaining in lockdown because of the pandemic.

So, the idea of Party Down potentially returning is very much good news to us and, as far as revivals/reboots go via nostalgia bait, we’re fine with this one. If you haven’t watched Party Down yet, please stop singing the praises of Ted Lasso and go watch all of Party Down right now. There are only two seasons (and there indeed should have been more), so it ought to be a very satisfying binge.

Thus far, the original producing team of Rob Thomas, John Enbom, Paul Rudd and Dan Etheridge are committed to developing this possible revival at Starz and they’ve indicated that a good portion of the cast is likely to return (Adam Scott seems to be on board).

Perhaps, if this returns, we’ll have a better answer for the question, “Are we having fun yet?”

In our lifetimes, few loves put on public display seem quite as picturesque, passionate, and downright fun as the one between Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally. That’s part of why they wrote a book about it humbly called The Greatest Love Story Ever Told.

So, join in and catch them live in conversation about the book with Lena Dunham at the Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo in DTLA on Wed., Oct. 3rd at 7:30PM. Individual tickets to include a copy of The Greatest Love Story Ever Told at $35 and you can (and should) get them here.

Rather than do just a traditional trailer, Will & Grace really did go big, even bigger than that mini-reunion they did a while back, to let you know that they’re not only coming back to NBC this fall, but it’ll be like they never left the air.

See for yourself as they “re-assemble the fourth wall” and more here.

‘Will & Grace’ Revival Extended to 12 Episodes

Orginally, 10 episodes of the revived Will & Grace, complete with the original cast and creators returning, had been ordered.

Now, NBC has ordered two extra episodes ever getting closer to a full season order. Honestly, if the cast’s schedule permits, don’t be surprised if there are episodes ordered on the back end.

The gigantic (but maybe not on the scale of billions and billions) line-up for the 16th Annual SF Sketchfest has just been announced. This flyer is just scratching the surface of how many great performers are on the bill.

In fact, there are currently over 700 performers that will be in more than 230 shows at 17 different venues over the course of 2 and a half weeks. Even if you’re not in or around San Francisco, it might be worth it to trek to SF to see what’s happening.

SF Sketchfest is set for January 12th-29th, 2017 and you can get tickets right now right here.

Yes, The Will & Grace Reunion Is Real and Is Another Great Reminder to Vote

Arguably, Will & Grace was not only a great, sharply written sitcom back in the heyday of NBC’s Must See TV, but ahead of its time in so many ways.

This reunion mini-episode with the whole cast (made for the voting campaign #VoteHoney) shows that Will & Grace probably would have been able to keep up with the times in 2016.

See for yourself.

Oh yeah, as this whole video suggests, you should definitely go vote this November.

Kieran Culkin, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally Starring in a Futuristic Comedy Where Babies Don’t Age

It’s appropriately titled Infinity Baby.

Now, we’re not sure exactly why babies stay 3-months old in director’s Bob Byington’s latest film, but it sure is intriguing. Having Kieran Culkin (who, we think, still needs a breakout role after his scene stealing work in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) all those years ago and comedy power couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally really has our interest peaked.

At least some parents will get their wishes to have babies forever and maybe discover that wasn’t such a great idea?

Jenna Fischer, Rob Lowe, and Megan Mullally all in an apocalyptic comedy sounds just fine to us.

Though it has a collection of sitcom stars from NBC’s own fold, You, Me and the Apocalypse has already premiered on the UK’s Sky 1 and is only making its way to the States starting tonight.

Watch a first look featurette here, then catch the premiere at 8PM on NBC.

“Last Week Tonight” Gives The Sex Ed Lesson That A Good Portion of America Apparently Isn’t Getting

Even though it’s been over a decade since Girl Next Door, a popular film that had criticism of our education system for not having up-to-date sex education, came out, many sex ed programs in schools around the country are still very much behind the times.

Luckily, John Oliver and the team at Last Week Tonight (as well as some extra help from Nick Offerman, Kristen Schaal, Laverne Cox, Kumail Nanjiani, Jack McBrayer, Megan Mullally, Aisha Tyler, and Jonathan Banks in an updated sex ed video) have got us all covered.

Watch it all here.

“The Late Late Show with James Corden” Sets More Guests

The first few episodes of the new Late Late Show with James Corden will have Tom Hanks, Kevin Hart, and more

Following that, they’ve scheduled more guests to include Rob Corddry, Thomas Lennon, Tig Notaro, and more.

CBS announced an upcoming list of said guests this morning:

David Beckham, comedian Rob Corddry, Simon Cowell, Courteney Cox, Jon Cryer, Claire Danes, Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Harmon, Thomas Lennon, Katharine McPhee, Megan Mullally, Matthew Perry, Freida Pinto, Tig Notaro, Gordon Ramsay and Kerry Washington.

Additional performances include George Ezra, Noel Gallagher, OK Go, Olly Murs, The Ting Tings and Jessie Ware.

That’s a good run of guests, but we are curious if Hanks will end up being like Bill Murray is to Letterman or Amy Poehler is to Seth Meyers as a first and frequent guest.

Watch Trailer for “Apartment Troubles”

One could almost make a sub genre out of dark buddy road trip comedies just from the 21st century. We haven’t checked Netflix, so maybe that is a genre. If not, Jess Weixler and Jennifer Prediger’s Apartment Troubles would be a good example of said genre according to this trailer.

Weixler and Prediger star as the two roommates that go LA or bust in trying to make it in “the biz” and also features a supporting cast of Jeffrey Tambor, Will Forte, and Megan Mullally.

You can watch Apartment Troubles in theaters on Mar. 27th or you can watch it right now off of iTunes.

Post Parks and Rec, Nick Offerman has already lined-up quite the schedule with his lucky lady no less, Megan Mullally (otherwise known as Tammy 2).

From Apr. 15th-May 17th, Nick and Megan will embark on their delightfully titled “Summer of 69: No Apostrophe” tour that stops in over 20 cities including San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Eugene, Detroit, Nashville, New Orleans, Chicago, and many more. Tickets are now on sale here.

In the middle of that tour, they will be taping a special, presumably of the same great name, in Milwaukee on May 8th (via The Laugh Button)

On top of all of that, Offerman is also gearing up for the release of his second book, Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America’s Gutsiest Troublemakers. The book will follow Offerman highlighting some of Offerman/Ron Swanson’s favorite American heroes. It’s set for release on May 26th.

So, get your tickets and pre-order, please and thank you.

Rob Lowe, Megan Mullally, Jenna Fischer To Star In “Apocalypse Slough” Dramedy

(via Deadline)

A sub genre of apocalyptic comedies seems to be recently forming including This Is The End, The World’s End, It’s a Disaster, and the upcoming Last Man on Earth on Fox.

Now, UK’s Sky is producing a mini-series along the same lines that pits an unlikely bunch hunkered down together as a giant comet is headed for earth set to wipe out all life. NBC has agreed to air the series here in the States, which is a smart considering Rob Lowe, Megan Mullally, and Jenna Fischer are all part of the cast.

Called “Apocalypse Slough”, the mini-series is currently being touted as a dramedy, but with Lowe, Mullally, and Fischer in, we’re sure that comedy will be well represented.

Also, anyone think that there’s any significant connection between the series being set in Slough, where the UK version of The Office was set, and Jenna Fischer, who was the U.S. counterpart to Dawn in the UK version of The Office? We certainly hope so.

IFC’s Development Slate Now Has a Garfunkel & Oates Pilot, Stop Motion Animation Dynasty Parody Pilot, and Much Much More

IFC announced today their latest additions to their development slate featuring 3 pilots and 8 scripts, which, from the looks of it, might make for one hell of a comedy channel.

Projects include as said above a Garfunkel and Oates pilot, scripts from Matt Besser, Rob Schrab, Megan Mullally, Chris Gethard, Tom Scharpling, Kyle Dunnigan, and more AND that stop motion animation Dynasty parody pilot featuring voice talents of Maria Bamford, Nick Kroll, Mike O’Connell, and more.

Basically, this is pretty great IFC.

Probably one of the most under appreciated movies of 2012, Smashed, starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul with Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally co-starring is finally out on DVD. This alcoholism dramedy from director/co-writer James Ponsoldt and co-writer (and comedian) Susan Burke was one moving, hilarious, and heartbreaking all in one go.
