Here’s one gem from Conan’s 3rd Annual Scrapisode from last night. As Conan says in this clip “TV is a lie,” but few hosts highlight that lie and make it fun all the same like he does.

You can watch the whole ‘Scrapisode’ here.

As campaigning for The Emmys is heating up, The Hollywood Reporter is doing another round of their great, in-depth roundtable discussions.

Their latest brought together comedy actors that are Emmys contenders, which includes…

Jeffrey Tambor…

…Aziz Ansari…

…Jerrod Carmichael…

…Rob Lowe…

…Tony Hale…

…and Keegan Michael Key.

They touch on anything from representation of minorities to the most embarrassing moments, which Rob Lowe probably takes the cake with his dark secret (it’ll probably come up during his roast).

The Carmichael Show Gets Renewed for a 3rd Season

(via Deadline)

Phew.

Plenty of shows got cancelled this past week, which left plenty nervous for any shows whose fate had yet to be decided. Though NBC had axed Mysteries of Laura, Telenovela, Crowded, and Undateable over the last few days, The Carmichael Show hadn’t received word on where they would end up.

Fortunately, they just got the renewal order for a 13 episode 3rd season just a few hours ago and we can rest a little more soundly that one of the few critically acclaimed multi cam sitcoms will be sticking around.

Over the last few years, there have been several multi cam sitcoms that were cancelled in their first season. In fact, it was so many that it left many wondering if multi cam was on its way out as a viable comedy series format.

The Carmichael Show has proven otherwise and Jerrod Carmichael offered some insight on why that might be during his appearance on last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Luckily, Jerrod Carmichael just has such a phone. Watch as he sells it to Jay Jackson/Perd Hapley and his family.

“The Carmichael Show” Scored The Highest Rated Network Summer Sitcom Premiere in 8 Years

(via The Wrap)

Apparently, Mr. Robinson, NBC’s other sitcom that debuted this summer, is now the 2nd highest.

As it premiered in the summer, the premiere of The Carmichael Show starring Jerrod Carmichael was making us a little anxious in how it would fare.

Fortunately, an estimated 4.8 million people watched the series premiere, which are numbers that networks haven’t seem during summer in almost a decade.

We’re not exactly sure whether it’s Jerrod having an HBO special, the search for the next great multi-cam sitcom, or perhaps the notion that The Carmichael Show isn’t going to shy away from controversial subject matter like Ferguson having to do with this good first outing, but we hope that it all fuels the show to avoid getting the ax.

You can watch the first two episodes on Hulu right now.

After a handful of pilots all at NBC, Jerrod Carmichael’s sitcom, The Carmichael Show, is premiering tonight.

The Carmichael Show has its series premiere tonight at 9PM on NBC. As Jerrod’s only other big TV thing was his HBO special, we’re all very anxious to see what he’s got up his sleeve with this show, especially since he gave fake copies of the show’s pilot on VHS on the street.

NBC Schedules “Mr. Robinson” and “The Carmichael Show” For Aug. 5th Premiere

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

So, both Craig Robinson’s Mr. Robinson and Jerrod Carmichael’s The Carmichael Show could be the next big wave of comedy at NBC.

At the crossroads of Parks and Recreation ending, nixing Must See TV, selling Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to Netflix, and One Big Happy not getting off to a hot start, NBC is trying hard to figure their next move with comedies.

There are plenty of pilots on the development slate, but they’ve got two series that have been stuck in their pocket, in one way or another, for awhile now.

So, at 9PM on Aug. 5th, Mr. Robinson and The Carmichael Show will have their series premiere and then have the potential to be the next thing that the peacock was looking for in their comedy department.

We’ll have to wait more than a few months to see.

3rd Jerrod Carmichael Pilot at NBC Gets Series Order

March 11, 2015
Uncategorized

(via Deadline)

Over the last couple of years, NBC has ordered three separate pilots from Jerrod Carmichael, making it obvious that they want a series with his face on it. Well, the third time is really the charm in this case as they finally put they’re money down on this latest pilot.

What will be interesting to see here is that this is yet another multicam sitcom based on the life and stand-up of a comedian.

If you’ve ever seen Jerrod Carmichael’s act, we certainly want that to mean that the multicam format is getting a much needed update and edge.

The series has six episodes ordered to sort all of that out.

Jerrod Carmichael Gets 3rd Pilot Order at NBC with Nick Stoller Co-Writing

NBC has ordered two pilot presentations from Jerrod Carmichael over the last calendar year. Neither one of them went to series, but NBC has come close and is obvious still jazzed about Carmichael since they have just put in an order for a 3rd pilot from him.

This time around, Neighbors director Nick Stoller will team up with Jerrod again and they’ll write the pilot together.

Hopefully, third time is the charm, comedy comes 3, or whatever other triplet-based-affirmation you know will come into play here.
