Search Party Finds Dory Starting a Cult in Season 5 Trailer

December 21, 2021
News

It has been far too long since the last season of Search Party to see what the hell they were going to do for the final season. In truth, any moment longer than the last frame of season 4 felt too long (especially as it seems like we’re going back into some sort of lockdown again due to Omicron).

Thankfully, season 5 is just a few weeks away and this latest look at the fifth and final season is especially juicy and ripe for the daring, often unhinged (in a great way) satire that Search Party has become. After trying to find and rescue various characters over the seasons, it looks as though Dory is lost yet again, but not in the physical sense so much as lost herself in leading a cult (and partnering with a dubious Jeff Goldblum) in the process.

If you thought that John Early’s Elliott pretending to be a Gay Republican conservative news pundit or how Dory was kept captive by a psychopath was wild, it would seem this season has a lot more in store and might just be as crazy as what the real world is (yet thankfully, very fictional).

Get a taste of what’s to come with the season 5 official trailer here, then look for the series to begin streaming on HBO Max come Fri. Jan. 7th.

The Final Season of Search Party Premieres in Jan. 2022 and Has Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Griffin, and John Waters

Search Party is only a couple of months away from unveiling its fifth and final season. That’ll be such a gift when 2022 arrives and the pandemic still isn’t over and new Search Party will be a very welcome respite from that.

Jan. 7th, 2022 will be when HBO Max rolls out new episodes every week and we’ll dive in once again with Dory, Drew, Portia, and Elliot for another round of chaos of desperate searching for something, both literally and figuratively. This time, they’ll be joined by yet another stunning cast of guest stars including the aforementioned Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Griffin, and John Waters, which has our mind furiously pondering what  sort of absurdity G. Charles Rogers and Sarah Violet Bliss convinced them to do on this show (just check the first look images) that has really gone to the most unpredictable places from where it started in season one. Many of our favorite folks in comedy will also be joining in for this swan song of Search Party including  Aparna Nancherla, Angela Trimbur, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Greta Titelman, Joe Castle Baker, Larry Owens and Michelle Badillo.

The holidays will very likely be more hectic than they have ever been with the world actually, kind of being open and, thankfully, this will be on the other side of it.

Amazon Is Developing a New Comedy Where Jeff Goldblum and Danny DeVito to Star as Ex-Music Duo That’s Forced to Get Back Together

Amazon Is Developing a New Comedy Where Jeff Goldblum and Danny DeVito to Star as Ex-Music Duo That’s Forced to Get Back Together

A premise where ex-partners from a creative partnership is well trodden territory, but the pairing of Goldblum and DeVito in this project from Simpsons writer Tim Long is pretty tantalizing. Also, since they’re a music duo, Goldblum will probably be belting out tunes plenty if this goes to series, which will undoubtedly be icing on the cake.

We have to admit that picturing DeVito and Goldblum standing next to each other already kind of makes us laugh.

The gigantic (but maybe not on the scale of billions and billions) line-up for the 16th Annual SF Sketchfest has just been announced. This flyer is just scratching the surface of how many great performers are on the bill.

In fact, there are currently over 700 performers that will be in more than 230 shows at 17 different venues over the course of 2 and a half weeks. Even if you’re not in or around San Francisco, it might be worth it to trek to SF to see what’s happening.

SF Sketchfest is set for January 12th-29th, 2017 and you can get tickets right now right here.

It’s trips to Comic Con that brings out bits like this on Conan and we’re glad that we’re getting more of it.

Enjoy Bill Hader, Melissa McCarthy, 50 Cent, Kumail Nanjiani, Thomas Middleditch, Adam Sandler, Jeff Goldblum, and more audition for the new version of the iconic role of Han Solo.

Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, and Bob Balaban Join in on Wes Anderson’s Stop Motion Animation Dog Movie

It would seem that it takes very little time for Wes Anderson to assemble a stellar cast.

Bryan Cranston is being brought into the Wes Anderson fold along with Jeff Goldblum, Bob Balaban, and Edward Norton for Anderson’s latest movie involving dogs and stop motion animation.

Let your imagination run wild with the possibilities of them voicing ultra clever dialogue as dogs. Personally, we’re fixated on imagining them at a poke table like in one of C.M. Coolidge’s famous paintings.

Jeff Goldblum’s Interview on Conan Is How Fun Late Night Interviews Should Be

Rather than watching go through questions on a blue card, you want to be lured in the ultra cool hangout that is a late night talk show when watching late night.

Jeff Goldblum’s appearance on Conan this week was just that as it crossed the intersection of the silly and sublime even though the topic was Jeff as a new dad.

If you’re appearing on late night soon, take notes.

“Inside Amy Schumer” Does a Remake of “12 Angry Men” About Women in Entertainment in Place of Murder

The 90s remake of 12 Angry Men should have been exactly like this.

Amy Schumer and company continue to back up their Peabody win with this sketch that breaks down Hollywood’s ridiculous expectations of leading ladies in the framework of the classic film 12 Angry Men, which originally had a jury arguing over a murder case.

Jeff Goldblum, Paul Giamatti, Chris Gethard, Kumail Nanjiani, Dennis Quaid, Nick Di Paolo, Henry Zebrowski, and more make a fantastic cast as well.

Only a Few Shows In, James Corden Took “The Late Late Show” To a Stranger’s House

We’ve been saying it and we’ll keep saying it: if James Corden is willing to take these fun risks and roll with whatever happens, then The Late Late Show is headed in the right direction.

Most late night talk shows so rarely leave the comfort of their studio for an entire episode that press releases are sent out months in advance when it happens.

As part of breaking new ground and breaking into the late night club, Corden is continuing to shake things up as he just taped an entire episode, monologue guests, bits, musical performance, and all at a strangers’ house.

So many genuine moments were had without the veil of soundstage and the sound of a studio audience and we’re pretty sure James made one of the residents’ day when they got to meet their hero Beck.

Hide and Go Seek got amped up because it’s a talk show, again, at a random house as well as guests Beck and Jeff Goldblum playing along.

A classic talk show staple of having animals and an animal trainer also gets taken to a whole new level as most of the animals make the inhabitants a little uneasy.

By the end of the night, there were no strangers and James most certainly got closer to meeting the people of America up close. If you want to watch the episode in its entirety, do so here.

We can only cross our fingers that Corden and company keep this sort of thing going on The Late Late Show.

“The Late Late Show with James Corden” Sets More Guests

The first few episodes of the new Late Late Show with James Corden will have Tom Hanks, Kevin Hart, and more

Following that, they’ve scheduled more guests to include Rob Corddry, Thomas Lennon, Tig Notaro, and more.

CBS announced an upcoming list of said guests this morning:

David Beckham, comedian Rob Corddry, Simon Cowell, Courteney Cox, Jon Cryer, Claire Danes, Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Harmon, Thomas Lennon, Katharine McPhee, Megan Mullally, Matthew Perry, Freida Pinto, Tig Notaro, Gordon Ramsay and Kerry Washington.

Additional performances include George Ezra, Noel Gallagher, OK Go, Olly Murs, The Ting Tings and Jessie Ware.

That’s a good run of guests, but we are curious if Hanks will end up being like Bill Murray is to Letterman or Amy Poehler is to Seth Meyers as a first and frequent guest.

Jeff Goldblum Stars in the GE Light Bulb Ad Directed by Tim and Eric

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim team up for a Super Bowl level ad for GE’s Link LED Light Bulb. They present Jeff Goldblum as lavish as he has ever been presented as he shows off this light bulb in a hot tob next to a grand piano.

So, unless you’re tugging at our heart strings with clydesdales and dogs playing together, please let commercials be more like this.

IFC’s biggest series are getting into production for their latest seasons and, of course, they have quite the guest star list.

Pitchfork reports that a nice roster of bands will be featured on Comedy Bang! Bang! including The National, Lonely Island, Future Islands, and The Flaming Lips. Presumably, there will be some great jamming between them and Comedy Bang! Bang’s band leader Reggie Watts.

Splitsider has found through Carrie Brownstein’s Instagram that Natasha Lyonne, Jeff Goldblum, and Jane Lynch, amongst others will join Fred Armisen and Carrie in Portlandia.

So, we can’t wait for the premiere of either of these.

Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt, Jeff Goldblum Board Johnny Depp’s ‘Mortdecai’

Say what you will, but an action comedy about stolen art with Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt, and Jeff Goldblum with ‘Nazi loot’ pretty much has us sold even though it’s not a Wes Anderson movie.

A teaser/trailer of Mortdecai needs to come out ASAP.
