ABC Having ‘Toy Story’ TV Special for Halloween

As far as the Toy Story franchise concerned, we guess it might have only been a matter of time before a TV version would come about as we’re sure it has probably been discussed frequently. Ever since Toy Story 3, there has been digital shorts featuring various “toys” here and there released by Pixar, but, if anything, we’re happy to see that it’s a Halloween special that doesn’t have to worry about a season arc.

With that being said, be sure to catch Toy Story of TERROR airs on ABC 8PM Oct. 16th.

This is a good thing and we sincerely hope whatever series he makes gets  ordered.

ABC Buys Comedy From June Diane Raphael, Casey Wilson & Jonathan Groff

Based off how much their names have been in the trades and the deals they have signed, it was only a matter of a little time before the great June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson sold a pilot to a network especially with the deal that had ABC in place.

Along with Jonathan Groff (Happy Endings), Raphael and Wilson now have sold a pilot as well as have a movie coming out in Ass Backwards.

Jay Baruchel Producing Semi-Autobiographical Comedy at ABC

ABC has enlisted Jay Baruchel and a sitcom based on his life, which, based on the description, seems like what would happen in This Is The End if Jay left Seth Rogen and went back home to avoid Hollywood (also without the end of days happening).

We’re really curious to see whether this will end up being a single or multi-camera sitcom, especially for how family oriented the series could be.

Ed Helms-Produced Comedy Lands at ABC

Of this latest round of comedy development news, we haven’t heard much from ABC as NBC and Fox having been doing much of the buying lately.

Yet, ABC just nabbed a series to develop that Ed Helms is producing, though we’re a little curious as to whether Helms or someone else will be on camera or not though.

Casey Wilson & June Diane Raphael Comedy Series Closer to Happening at ABC

One of the higher profile projects during this past pilot season, Pulling, an adaptation of a BBC comedy series, is one step closer to happening at ABC with the wonderful Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael after signing their latest deal at the network.

It’s not quite picked up to series just yet, but we’re hopeful given that it’s gone through this many hoops and still has Wilson and Raphael involved.

1) Our 2011 Emmys Summary: Modern Family is the Emmy’s favorite comedy, Louis C.K. didn’t win anything, The Big Bang Theory did win something, Outstanding Guest Actor in A Comedy Series is an award, despite moving to TBS, Conan loses out to NBC again, and we still think awards shows shouldn’t be televised.

2) Kumail Nanjiani, Gears of War 3, Barbara Kingsolver, and a “Make A Wish” Kid can only make for a hilarious Funny or Die sketch.

1) Aubrey Plaza is “one of the most fascinating people” that Conan’s talked to into awhile.

2) Don Rickles on Jimmy Kimmel Live (including Parts 1 & 2).

3) Over the last few months, there has been a lot of talk about the consequences of talking about sexual assault and rape on stage and being aware of the sensitivity of audience members. Today, Barbara Holm gives an interesting flip on the debate in regards to hecklers sexually harassing comedians at Laughspin.

4) A guy sells punny-one liners in a park. There was a guy in Venice who just used to take donations and would make a living performing his act on the street. Is America prime for “street comedy”?

5) Laughter Against the Machine, a comedy tour bringing laughs to political hot spots around the U.S., is only a few days away from needing to meet their donation goal. If that wasn’t enough, hear what Marc Maron had to say about it.

Now That’s a ‘Change-Up’: Todd Glass Sits at Kimmel’s Desk

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Todd Glass stops in the middle of his set and literally, without the aid of some little known spell or some frustrated writers’ imagination, switches places with Jimmy Kimmel.

It’s a weird, though refreshing, move on his part, as Glass had the audience going on the last joke that he told while on stage.

Watch it in Parts 1 and 2. Then go check out Todd Glass record his first hour long special at the El Rey Theatre this Saturday.

(This was meant to go in the Morning Debriefing, but due to a lack of caffeine and a subsequent lack of awareness, the video is now its own post. Talk about being meta, am I right? Also, yes, you can hate us for the pun in the headline.)
