This Sun. Nov. 9th at 9PM on Fox, The SImpsons will do their second momentous crossover this season with Futurama in what will be called “Simpsorama”. We’re going to say that you shouldn’t miss that and should set a reminder/your DVR right now.

You can obsesses over the famous Simpsons couch gag, which blends the opening sequences of both shows until then.

Tig Notaro Had Another Amazing, One-of-a-Kind Set at the NYCF

We all were spellbound by her performance that became an album in Live, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that many that were in attendance are writing up her show this morning during the New York Comedy Festival that’s happening right now.

We don’t want to ruin the moment of reading exactly what happened as recounted by The New Yorker’s Andrew Marantz, but we’ll say that Tig took baring it all to a whole other transformative, level, per usual.

ABC Cancels “Selfie” and New Network Comedies Seem Like They Really Can’t Catch a Break

November 7, 2014

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

Must like their film studio counterparts, TV networks are looking for tentpole franchises in their series, hopefully having something that will make it past six seasons and eventually go on to syndication. Series such as Seinfeld, Friends, and The Office running for so long have given credence to this dynamic when it comes to sitcoms.

However, with the explosion of niche comedy and comedy in general via the Internet, the idea of the long-running half hour sitcom seems much harder to start these days. Already in this latest TV season, Manhattan Love Story, A to Z, and Bad Judge have been cancelled.

ABC has added to that list with their axing of Selfie.

There weren’t that many freshman comedies to begin with at the big broadcast networks this fall, leaving us to wonder how marginalized scripted comedy currently is at NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and how much more it will go that way.

Adult Swim’s “Too Many Cooks” Is Why You Should Have Been Up at 4AM This Morning

Adult Swim has definitely been really making it clear that they’re a home, a haven, a catalyst, and more for the sort of amazing, bizarre, dark, and funny niche comedy that would never air on a single digit channel on your TV.

Too Many Cooks, which really takes The Greatest Event in Television History and makes it drop acid, aired at 4AM today on Adult Swim and is a perfect example of that.

Please watch it/watch it again now.

November 7, 2014

Five years ago, the hilarious Henry Phillips starred in and co-wrote Punching The Clown, a movie that slowly, but surely became a cult hit on Netflix.

Now, in 2014, with Henry having just shot his comedy special, had one of the best web series of all time under his belt, he and, we hope, the rest of the world is ready for a sequel to Punching The Clown.

Our sources tell us that, indeed, the Punching The Clown sequel has just gone into production and Philips just tweeted the picture above this morning, leaving us to only conclude, unlike so many things that are teased on the Internet, that it’s all actually happening.

So, do yourself a favor and get excited for this, especially as we’ll have more details about cast, etc. coming soon.

The Dollop, the new podcast hosted by Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds, is something that you absolutely should subscribe to listen to, especially if you wondering about all the a-holes in history that you never learned about in any level of your education.

As an example, just watch the entire episode that they recorded live at this year’s LA Podcast Festival that focused on President James A. Garfield’s assassin, Charles Guiteau. Leave it to Anthony, Reynolds and guest Wil Anderson to make that so much damn fun.

Watch it all here.

Jimmy Kimmel Tries to Convince Craig Ferguson To Not Leave “The Late Late Show”

November 9, 2014
Uncategorized
cbs, craig ferguson, jimmy kimmel, late late show

Craig Ferguson is a very good late night talk show host.

Perhaps, you’ve not had your TV tuned to CBS at 12:35AM after Letterman to find that out over the last decade, but Ferguson, for our money, excelled at the hardest part of hosting the traditional late night talk show format, the interviews. The skill of making a fun, intriguing conversation with people whether they be crazy or dull is one that Ferguson has honed better than almost anyone currently working in late night.

So, the prospect of his exit from The Late Late Show is one that we’re having difficulty getting used to and Jimmy Kimmel feels much the same way.

Craig explains his reasons to Jimmy and the rest of us on The Late Late Show during Jimmy’s appearance on the show this week. Watch it here or here on CBS and start at 18:01 because CBS doesn’t want to put this vastly interesting interview in an easily accessible, user-friendly format online.

“Absolutely Anything” Might Be The Last Film with Robin Williams

When Robin Williams tragically passed away earlier this year, he had already put in his work for several projects that were to be released at a later date.

One of those films was Merry Friggin’ Christmas, but it turns out, apparently, that the last role Williams took on before he passed was voicing a dog in the upcoming film “Absolutely Anything” from Monty Python’s Terry Jones.

While Orson Welles’ voice was oddly lent right before he died to the transforming planet Omicron in the animated Transformers movie, Robin Williams voicing a dog in a comedy seems much more fitting and will definitely be a thing to watch for when Absolutely Anything hits theaters.

By now, you’ve probably seen posted elsewhere around the Internet, this amazing clip from the finale of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver where he uses a salmon cannon (it’s exactly what it sounds like) to launch salmon all across the television landscape. Just because we didn’t post at 12:01AM and get the most Facebook interactions out of it, doesn’t mean we’re not going to post this hilarious bit.

Such recipients of salmon to the face include Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, JJ Abrams, Homer Simpson, Dwight Howard, Tom Hanks, and so much more.

If this doesn’t make sense to you yet, just watch and thoroughly enjoy, then have an overwhelming sense of sadness that there will be no new Last Week Tonight for the weeks to come.

With Community’s return for a season 6 on Yahoo being only a couple of months away, there’s only more anticipation building over the series that has defied expectations at every turn.

On top of the miracle that was pulled off by making it to its sixth season (and hopefully a movie), Community has added two new cast members in Paget Brewster, who we’d hope you be familiar with from a guest role in Community as well as her regular role in The Thrilling Adventure Hour, and Keith David who has been in a vast myriad of things, but we’ll never forget for his disturbing role in Requiem For a Dream.

We’re into this additions especially since Yvette Nicole Brown has left Community.
