Though it was made more than a few years ago, James Franco’s in-depth look into what goes into a week at Saturday Night Live in his documentary Saturday Night is finally available to more than a film festival crowd to watch.

You’ll get to take a look at Franco following the real life happenings of all the stories that you hear of SNL players and writers talk about in interviews of no sleep, the boatloads of sketches that don’t make it, and more.

Watch Saturday Night on Hulu Plus here.

Larry David Might Still Be Up for Another Season of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

While in conversation with David Steinberg last night at the Ace Hotel in Downtown LA, Larry David was hounded about the future of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

David already has his upcoming Broadway play Fish in the Dark on his plate and admitted that he isn’t quite sure where he’d take the series, but he’s not closing the door on Curb yet. To Steinberg and the crowd, David commented, “I haven’t given up the hope.”

Though it’s sort of off-brand for HBO, if Curb Your Enthusiasm intended on returning for another season, a crossover episode with The Comeback might be a good starting point.

Help Keep Moses Storm’s Modern Millennial Comedy Performance Art Installation Going

September 30, 2014
Uncategorized

The month that Moses Storm had set out to live and breathe in his performance art installation entitled Modern Millennial is almost coming to a close. We got a chance to visit and it does not disappoint in being the wonderfully and comedically self-aware contemporary art exhibit that is lacking in nearly every contemporary art gallery around.

It’s also a great, funny distillation and examination of the idea of being that older generations refer to in disgust as “millennial”.

More people definitely should get a chance to check Modern Millennial out and that’s only going to happen if Moses’ Kickstarter for $500 gets funded by 10PM tomorrow. He’s at $160 as of this post being written.

Please keep #ModernMillennial alive here.

The reboot of the Vacation franchise by New Line was already pretty enticing with Ed Helms as a grown up Rusty Griswold.

Now, Keegan Michael-Key and Regina Hall have gotten added to the cast as the heads of a perfect family in contrast to the oft-dysfunctional Griswolds.

So, this reboot just keeps getting better and better.

This past Sunday, The Simpsons returned for their 26th season as well as had their highly anticipated crossover episode with Family Guy.

So, The Simpsons made sure that there couch gag on that night would be like nothing we’ve seen before. So they enlisted award winning animator and filmmaker Don Hertzfeldt to make an uber-futuristic couch gag and he did not disappoint.

If you have Hulu Plus, you can watch “The Simpsons Guy” right now and get your fix for meta Simpsons/Family guy jokes all in a few clicks.

The Tonight Show to Tape in Phoenix After Super Bowl and Then in LA for a Week

The Tonight Show is going to take a week and come back to the West Coast next February. Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, and company will first tape an episode in Phoenix right after the Super Bowl on Feb. 1st and will then head to Universal Studios Hollywood from Feb. 2nd-5th for a week of shows here in LA.

Fun fact: While The Tonight Show hasn’t been in LA since Jimmy Fallon took over as the host earlier this year, The Tonight Show hasn’t been on the Universal Studios backlot since The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

Perhaps, there will be some fun crossover, rivalry bits between Conan and Fallon and Kimmel?

FX Renews “You’re The Worst” and “Married” Renewed

When it comes to gritty, real-life relationship comedy series, FX seems to have it figured out. The award winning Louie leads that charge after four seasons, freshman series You’re The Worst and Married are now getting 13 episode second seasons.

However, You’re the Worst will be moving to FXx for that second season.

This might follow some sort of logic when you take into account that FXx skews younger and You’re the Worst is follows the beginning of a relationship while Married and Louie on FX are all about what happens as a result of long term relationships.

Adult Swim has set Oct. 23rd as the premiere date for season 2 of Newsreaders and not only has Alison Becker, Beth Dover, Dannah Phirman, and Ray Wise back, but Alan Tudyk as the new host.

They’ve also racked up quite the guest star list. Scott Adsit, Malin Akerman, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jenna Fischer, Rob Huebel, Tom Lennon, Randall Park, Danny Pudi, Rob Riggle, Martin Starr, James Urbaniak, along with David Hasselhoff will all be going through the news, sort of, with the Newsreaders team.

Watch the trailer for season 2 here with plenty of anchors and correspondents losing it.

Enlisted’s Kevin Biegel and Mike Royce have been tapped to develop the hit comedy Big starring Tom Hanks into a comedy series for Fox.

There’s no word on who would star or how much they’ll stick to the original movie (i.e. a kid could be turned into an adult by a Zoltar machine), but there’s potential here especially if they get someone like, perhaps, Chris Pratt to star.

Whether you’re aware of it or not, Comedy Central is on a roll. Drunk History, Nathan For You, Broad City, “@midnight”, Kroll Show, seem to all be solid in so many respects and thus, it shouldn’t be a surprise that their 1900s scripted comedy Another Period starring Riki Lindhome and Natasha Leggero has just added a stellar supporting/guest cast.

Lauren Ash, Michael Ian Black, Paget Brewster, Beth Dover, Brett Gelman, Brian Huskey, David Koechner, Jason Ritter, David Wain and Armen Weitzman are all set to round out the show following Rhode Island’s “first family”.

While, Another Period won’t come around until 2015, 2015 isn’t that far off.

John Oliver Attempts To Explain Professional English Soccer to David Letterman

While Americans seem to show some interest for soccer during the World Cup, there is still a lack of interest in the game that the world calls football for the other 4 years of time when the World Cup isn’t happening.

John Oliver got some insight into why that might be based on his explanation of the English Premier League as well as the other subsequent soccer leagues in England to David Letterman on The Late Show.

Dan Mintz, who we’d hope you know from both Bob’s Burgers and his stand-up, is releasing a brand new stand-up album, The Stranger, from Comedy Central Records.

It comes out Oct. 7th and you’ll have to give it a listen to not only hear hilarious jokes, but also to see if the title is a reference to famed author Albert Camus.

While you’re pondering that, you can pre-order it here.

Turns out the Weird Al Yankovic has just wrapped up a three decade plus long record contract with his latest chart topping album Mandatory Fun. Yankovic chatted about that with Seth Meyers on Late Night last night as well as how he makes sure to clear his song parodies with the artists (even if its the night before recording) and his overall process in song writing and what he goes for.

While that’s all well and good, Weird Al also talked about the one time that he played Wheel of Fortune with Little Richard and James Brown, which is a thing that really happened.

We don’t know about the rest of you, but are wishes have come true as Bill Burr is set to star in an upcoming FX comedy pilot, Pariah.

Coming from the minds behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, specifically, Dave and John Chernin along with Rob McElhenney set to direct, Pariah will center around Burr as a television personality that has a meltdown and then has to try to go through life as a normal person with experience only as a on-camera loudmouth.

So, we’re definitely hoping this goes to series as soon as possible.

While the aftermath of the success of the first Zombieland was circuitous, especially leading up to a sequel, a Zombieland 2 seems to now have the wheels turning since Sony has lined up Dave Callaham as the writer and director Ruben Fleischer to return.

The short lived online series version of Zombieland may have been the wrong move for what could be a great franchise, but if they could get the principal cast (Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin) all back, then there would be more hope for the sequel to make it to theaters within the next couple of years.

With Jerrod Carmichael’s HBO special Love at the Store coming up this Sat., Jerrod has been hitting the late night talk show circuit.

Last night, he went on Conan and made a case for cocaine to, at the very least, enhance your favorite performers as well as weighing the choice between being a great father and a great at your job. Beyond making some salient points, Jerrod gives you a great taste of what to expect on Saturday.

By the way, did we tell you to watch Love at the Store this Sat. Oct. 4th at 10PM on HBO? If we forgot to do that, make sure you do.

We’d say that, by now, comedy has worked out for IFC. So, they’re now beefing up their development slate for this upcoming pilot season with a new scripted project from Denis Leary’s company Apostle.

Following with Apostle’s success with Maron at the network, the project, Uncle Chubby, follows the path of an intramural hockey team in an attempt to win a league title.

No talent is currently attached, but hopefully Liev Schrieber’s character from Goon can make a cameo.
