THUR May 5: Jason Nash

Dave and comedian Jason Nash go way back, all the way back to the 90s… Jason shares embarrassing stage moments, Andy Dicks road to a comeback, and tidbits about his podcast and web series. Don’t miss this one, there are tidbits in here.

More about Jason? yes.

Jason Nash is a comedian, actor and writer, who created the web series “Jason Nash is Married” for Atom.com, which was based on Jason’s one-person show “In The Land of Tall Buildings and Red Fire Engines.” In 2010, Jason was a semi-finalist on “Last Comic Standing” and he developed a sitcom for CBS Television.

LA Times: Funny or Die on a mission to live large

Every once in a while the LA Times steps away from Pulitzer Prize winning journalism and writes about comedy like they do here.  One question: Isn’t Funny or Die’s mission to live large implied in their name?

Mike Bridenstine’s Tumblr Thing: New Gentlemen Scumbags Tonight Night (with Pete Holmes)

brido:

@gentscum will be live tonight at 8pm PST with special guest, Pete Holmes. There’s a decent chance you already know Pete. He’s been on Premium Blend, Best Week Ever, John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan and had his own Presents on Comedy Central….

If there was a 4th quarter in comedy, Pete Holmes is who you would go to.  LISTEN TO THIS.

The Laugh Button: Review: Doug Stanhope “Oslo-Burning The Bridge To Nowhere”

thelaughbutton:

If the thought of a comedian not yucking it up with jokes that please the masses makes you uncomfortable, then off the bat I will tell you Doug Stanhope’s new album Oslo-Burning The Bridge to Nowhere is not for you. Perhaps pick up some tickets for a Larry The Cable Guy show or Jeff Dunham…

How about that?  Something is both good and is actually as it was advertised.  Why I’d never thought I’d ever see the day… (this is how’d my review for the album would probably go, FYI).

Remember all that money that you were going to spend on beer and snacks to have a party while rooting/hating the Lakers as they were going deep into the playoffs?  Yeah, you have plenty of it to spend on live comedy and the Super Serious Show is a great place to start.

Pete Holmes and sketches from the Midnight Show alone will more than make up for Kobe and Gasol.  Seriously.  Get your tickets here.

What’s a-Happening Down at the Nerdist Theater?

May 10, 2011
Uncategorized
cheap, comedy shows, hollywood, los angeles, meltdown comics, what to do

Answer: almost too much.

If you thought the weekly installment of Meltdown with Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani was awesome, how about Dan Harmon’s Harmontown (he’s more than just the showrunner for Community), Battleship Pretension LIVE w/Kyle Kinane, and even a musical!?!?  Yes, it’s all happening at the Nerdist Theater.

It’s almost too much (emphasis on “almost”).
