John Oliver and Last Week Tonight Make Important Supreme Court Cases Palatable With Dogs and Fake Paws

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone that actually sits and watches an entire hour of congressional hearings on C-SPAN. While the decisions that affect the course of politics happen in such chambers, it’s hard to make it good TV.

Cases that The U.S. Supreme Court takes on have an even more direct effect on our lives and cameras aren’t even allowed into their court room. However, you can hear audio of their discourse and, knowing that, the amazing Last Week Tonight team and John Oliver have done us all the huge favor of making an adorable mock-up of The Supreme Court with real dogs with fake paws.

In fact, there’s almost ten minutes of footage you can use so you or major news networks can put it over audio of cases in The Supreme Court. Welcome to your new favorite meme, Internet.

Key and Peele Set To Shoot First Feature “Keanu” in Spring 2015

(via Deadline)

While Key & Peele continues to kill it in their 4th season, titular stars Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele already have their off show schedule filled up with so many projects. A reboot of Police Academy, a potential spin-off movie for their character Mr. Garvey, a movie with Judd Apatow, and a web series “Ithamar Has Nothing to Say”.

Turns out their first feature length project of all of those to get into production will be another film entirely that follows a cat being stolen by a gang entitled “Keanu”. As far as we know, it doesn’t refer to the actor Keanu Reeves, but we’d be surprised if it didn’t play into the story somehow.

New Line has set production of Keanu to start in spring of 2015 and will hopefully be the start to where we’ll all get to see Key & Peele in various formats year round.

More specifically, Nov. 11th is when you can get a copy and take a listen. We don’t have any details on a title or cover art, but we’re sure, with the focus on Danke, it’s going to be as casual cool as casual cool can be.

Cameron Crowe Romantic Comedy with Bill Murray, Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone Set for 2015 Release

(via Variety)

Once there was a script for a project that writer/director Cameron Crowe was writing called Deep Tiki, which was retooled for a cast of Bill Murray, Bradley Cooper, and Emma Stone. It’s been in the works, and untitled, for well over a year and can be best most fully described, so far as we can tell, as a “Hawaiian rocket launch rom com”.

If you like all of those elements together (and we really can’t imagine why you wouldn’t), be happy to know that this film is set for release in May 2015 according to Crowe in an interview with Variety.

We wouldn’t be surprised if a fun trailer with rockets, great music, Murray’s classic face, all against the Hawaii sunset is coming relatively soon.

CBS Launches “CBS All Access” Subscription Streaming Service

(via NY Times)

It’s only a matter of time before TV and the Internet merge completely. One can already see the signs as HBO finally setting to offer a stand alone streaming option marks the already inevitable shift of television online.

CBS is now joining in on this movement with the launching of CBS All Access, which offers thousands of episodes of your favorite CBS programs as well as new episodes the very next day.

We hope this makes watching something like a comedian’s set on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson or an entire interview from The Late Show with David Letterman after it has aired a lot easier (i.e. being able to watch it all) than it currently is.

For now, CBS is offering a one week free trial of CBS All Access.

Amy Poehler Producing Another Comedy Project at NBC and Joins Legendary’s Digital Division with “Smart Girls At The Party”

For quite some time, Amy Poehler has been doing quite well for herself or, as some might say, killing it.

This week has been a particularly good display of that as Legendary Entertainment acquired Poehler’s Smart Girls At The Party and she is set to produce another comedy at NBC along with Aisha Muharrar.

So, there will be even more Smart Girls At The Party content to be made and a comedy project following an agnostic woman who has to deal with the inheritance of a church.

These two announcements come on top of the release of Poehler’s book Yes Please, executive producing the second season of Broad City, and probably a million other amazing things that she has wonderfully hidden up her sleeve.

The release of Megan Amram’s science “textbook”, Science… For Her!, is less than a month away at Nov. 4th, so Amram enlisted the help of Nick Offerman, Steve Agee, and Rich Fulcher, director Payman Benz, and a parody of Olivia Newton John’s Let’s Get Physical to promote the book.

The result? It’s Let’s Get Physics Y’all with a perfect exhibition of all the, shall we say, manliness of Offerman/Agee/Fulcher on display. Pre-order Science… For Her!, as you know you’ll want to after watching, here.

NBC Cancelled Female Driven 1960s Space Race Comedy “Mission Control” Before Premiere

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

Though there seems to be a little bit of a trend of space themed comedies these days with Paul Feig‘s Other Space for Yahoo, Cracked‘s Starship Icarus, NBC has jumped off any sort of potential bandwagon that there would be by canceling Mission Control from Gary Sanchez Productions ahead of its premiere.

Krysten Ritter was set to star, but locking down the rest of the cast apparently proved too difficult for NBC to want to move forward with the show.

It’s unfortunate as a workplace comedy set at NASA’s Mission Control in the 60s with Ritter as the star definitely sounded pretty great to us. Maybe it’ll get revived somewhere else as that is definitely a trend in TV these days.

Mike), a definitive interview with Scharpling & Wurster by Jake Fogelnest, notes on the evolution and inspiration behind each bit written by Scharpling & Wurster, a USB drive with all of the calls plus 4 hours of bonus material, a fold-out map of Newbridge, Philly Boy Roy & Timmy von Trimble Paper Dolls, postcards, and temporary tattoos with The Best Show catch-phrases.”
