It’s more proof that Conan O’Brien could just have a spin-off cut from tape of his very own show.

Even more riffs, flubs, tomfoolery a plenty come in the 2nd Scrapisode from Conan.

Enjoy Conan at his loosest whether it be going back and forth with Andy, producers, camera men, guests, or bands that had taped their sets days earlier.

HBO Is Developing Lynn Shelton Comedy Anthology Series “Family Drama”

HBO has comedy about a family covered in LA. Now, they’re on to Seattle.

Lynn Shelton, director of Your Sister’s Sister and Laggies, is developing HBO’s latest comedy project that is taking an anthology angle by exploring the inner workings of different Seattle families and the comedy that lies therein.

If picked up, it should actually pair quite well with HBO’s Togetherness.

Julian McCullough and Annie Lederman To Host “We Have Issues” on E!

Glad to see that E! is employing comedians like Julian and Annie and doing so in other arenas besides Fashion Police.

Starting next month, both Julian McCullough and Annie Lederman will hash it out weekly on Fridays in a pop culture debate series, “We Have Issues”.

The new show on E! is set to premiere on Sept. 18th at 10:30PM.

We’re not sure of the exact format, but we hope the panel debates are along the lines of The Nightly Show or Tough Crowd.

“The Carmichael Show” Scored The Highest Rated Network Summer Sitcom Premiere in 8 Years

August 28, 2015
Uncategorized

(via The Wrap)

Apparently, Mr. Robinson, NBC’s other sitcom that debuted this summer, is now the 2nd highest.

As it premiered in the summer, the premiere of The Carmichael Show starring Jerrod Carmichael was making us a little anxious in how it would fare.

Fortunately, an estimated 4.8 million people watched the series premiere, which are numbers that networks haven’t seem during summer in almost a decade.

We’re not exactly sure whether it’s Jerrod having an HBO special, the search for the next great multi-cam sitcom, or perhaps the notion that The Carmichael Show isn’t going to shy away from controversial subject matter like Ferguson having to do with this good first outing, but we hope that it all fuels the show to avoid getting the ax.

You can watch the first two episodes on Hulu right now.

Stephen Colbert To Have Recurring Segment on “The Late Show” To Investigate Who He Really Is

August 28, 2015
Uncategorized

(via Time)

Of course, as it’s a segment from Stephen Colbert, it will be called Who Am Me?

It’s now common knowledge that Stephen Colbert played the character of a conservative pundit as host of The Colbert Report. Ever since he lead the Colbert Nation, fans and detractors alike wondered what the real Colbert was like.

Well, Stephen is planning to take on that query head on by having professionals investigate his past, talking to various people Colbert knew over the years, and seeing how that brought on the Stephen Colbert we know today. The findings will presented in a series of segments titled Who Am Me?, as mentioned above, on The Late Show.

Given how long he kept the Colbert character going, let’s see if this is all a long con when Stephen starts his tenure at The Late Show on Sept. 8th.

Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner will return for a second season to cast judgment on whoever falls within their gaze as Hulu has re-upped Difficult People for a second season.

Duos that are best described by the title of this show like Jimmy and Gretchen on You’re The Worst seem to be really in right now and we like it that way.

“Bill Hicks Box Set: The Complete Collection” Set to Come Out on 9/11

Whether it’s be released or not, Comedy Dynamics is giving us all the definitive Bill Hicks collection.

12 CDs, 6 DVDs, and a photo booklet span every album and special that has seen the light of day as well as hours of unreleased performances by the legendary comedian.

While we can only imagine how Hicks would tackle talking about 9/11 on stage, you can be sure that he would be as fierce and unrelenting as he always was about fueling truth through his comedy and Fri. Sept. 11th, 2015 is probably as good a release date (even if it’s just a coincidence in this case) for a Hicks collection.

You didn’t think they were just going to have a new host and that be it, did you?

The exit of Jon Stewart from The Daily Show and the impending arrival of his successor Trevor Noah not only means someone new sitting at the chair, but the start of a new era.

With this new era of The Daily Show, Comedy Central has opted to bulk up the show’s digital presence by bringing on Baratunde Thurston, formerly of The Onion and CEO of Cultivated Wit, to produce original content online.

If you’ve ever seen the Comedy Hack Day he puts on around the country, you know that both Comedy Central and Baratunde have something good up their sleeve.

Amazon Is Developing Series Adaptation of “Galaxy Quest”

(via Deadline)

You may be tired of reboots, sequels, prequels, revivals, and/or adaptations, but we’re betting you’ll probably still give this a chance.

16 years ago, a fake spaceship crew became a real one in 1999′s Galaxy Quest and either enough time has passed or perhaps there is going to be such an influx of space based comedy shows following Other Space where Amazon wants to develop a series based on the movie with the writer, director, and producer of Galaxy Quest (Robert Gordon, Dean Parisot, and Mark Johnson respectively).

The project is still in its very beginning stages as no cast has been assembled yet. If Wet Hot American Summer can get their original cast back, Galaxy Quest has a good shot of getting Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen, Sam Rockwell, Tony Shaloub, and Daryl Mitchell all back.

Catherine Hardwicke, Shira Piven, Nicole Holofcener, Nisha Ganatra, and Anne Fletcher, all successful female directors take part in this Funny or Die sketch that simulates why on earth studio executives might not hire more women to direct their big budget summer tentpole movies, a current topic of controversy.

Of course, the reason seems pretty non-existent.

Thus far, the only thing known about this movie is that Amy and Jennifer will play sisters. Given how much star power/bankability the two have, we imagine that a studio will pick up this very soon.
