Veep Will Come to an End in Seventh Season

Another one of TV’s great comedies will come to an end on their terms.

Even with the series going way farther than the vast majority of comedies these days, series creator Armando Iannucci moving on to The Death of Stalin, and the Trump Administration giving the series a weird life-mirroring-art curveball, Julia Louis-Dreyfus has a second iconic role under her belt and showrunner David Mandel will be very likely going out in the best position possible.

“It became clear that this season should be the last season,” Louis-Dreyfus says. “We don’t want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series.”

Also, score another big win here for FX with Better Things and Atlanta.

But as I’ve thought so much more about Trump in the last year, there’s nobody more Trumpy than Selina. In some ways, she has been Trumpy for six seasons. So much of the show is her barging into things headfirst, saying the wrong thing, screwing up, getting caught, lying about it. If that’s not Trump, I don’t know what is. Everyone keeps asking, “Well, how has Trump changed things?” Trump, in a weird way, is sort of doing us. We’re not doing him.

The rundown of comedy nominees in this year’s awards season have many notable differences between the nominations for a few awards ceremonies that have been announced so far.

Still, Florence Foster Jenkins and black-ish seem to be holding consistently throughout as they just picked up multiple nominations for the 2017 SAG Awards. For the most part, heavy perennial favorites won here, and deservingly so, like Veep, Transparent, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Key & Peele got a proper send-off for the final season with this Emmy win and what might be talked about as one of Louie Anderson’s best performances of his career in Baskets as the mother nabbed him a statue as well. Also, Master of None’s writing definitely earned its Emmy win here.

This past weekend, The Creative Arts portion (the awards not deemed fit for the Emmys telecast) of The Primetime Emmys were given out.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend continues racking up awards and Last Week Tonight deservingly gets an award for writing. Even the most stubborn of kids might not hate eating vegetables quite like Connor Ratliff does. In Connor’s case, he’s a full grown adult and no one can tell him to eat his veggies or else.

Well, we guess his boss, Chris Gethard, can do that as a condition of interviewing one of Ratliff’s heroes, Tony Hale.

That’s exactly what happened and it’s even more surprising how much Connor can’t stand one of the most important parts of the food pyramid.

Announced today, two of HBO’s current hit comedies, Veep and Silicon Valley, are getting to come back for 2017. Selina Meyer and Richard Hendricks are two of the most relevant characters on TV given this election year and the rapidly changing landscape of tech.

We can’t wait to see where either show blurs the line between fiction and reality this year and the next.

The Peabody Awards Will Honor Jon Stewart and David Letterman and Have Announced Finalists
