Pick of the Day: The Daily Show Turns 25! 7/19

June 15, 2021
News
a whitney brown, anniversary, beth littleford, brian unger, lizz winstead, madeleine smithberg, rushtix, the daily show

After a quarter of a century, The Daily Show has been an institution of comedy, both in the realms of late night and political, and has ushered in changes that still reverberate through TV, comedy, and even politics itself to this very day.

So, marking its 25th anniversary is definitely an occasion worth celebrating and having a show for. Thankfully, The Daily Show co-creators Lizz Winstead and Madeleine Smithberg are joining the very first correspondents of The Daily Show, Beth Littleford, Brian Unger, and A. Whitney Brown, to mark the 25 year mark and tell the story of how this pillar of comedy broke its first ground.

The Daily Show Turns 25! will be a live-stream via RushTix on Mon. July 19th at 6PM PT/9PM ET. Tickets/access is only $20 (with an option to donate to Abortion Access Front) and you can (and should) go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Picture This! 6/23

Yes, live in-person comedy is coming back. That doesn’t mean that worthwhile virtual comedy is going away. In fact, there still is and will be plenty of great shows to be viewed from anywhere so long as you’ve got Internet for a long time to come.

One such upcoming show is the always genuinely fantastic Picture This! that combines splendid animation and stand-up all into one, in real time. It has toured everywhere and featured both many of your favorite comedians and animators from your favorite animated series for years, both pre-pandemic and during lockdown.

This virtual edition of Picture This! is being presented by RushTix on Wed. June 23rd at 7:30PM PT/10:30PM ET. and is set to feature Mike Hollingsworth, Mike L. Mayfield, Bryan Brinkman, Victoria Montes, Rotimi Olowu, comedy from Atsuko Okatsuka, and host Brandie Posey and more! Honestly, as the screen will be shared, you’ll have a better shot of seeing what the animators are up to than you might have if you were sitting in the back in person.

Tickets are only $10 and you can (and should) go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Your Late Night Show Tonight with Harvey Guillen 6/18

May 20, 2021
News
harvey guillen, late night, rushtix

OK, so here’s the situation. Season 3 of What We Do in the Shadows is in production, but the premiere date for said season 3 is still a ways away. As such, you won’t get to see Harvey Guillen reprise his beloved role as a quietly seething, conflicted familiar for the vampires of Staten Island, Guillermo.

However, you can catch Harvey be himself as a talk show host on the ever-changing, ever-evolving late night show, Your Late Night Show Tonight, that changes formats with every new host that they get each month. Guillen along with a choice writing staff and a crack production team that has done any sort of late night show  imaginable for years (including one that involved the apocalypse happening in “hosting the show” “from a bunker”).

Your Late Night Show Tonight with Harvey Guillen will go live, via RushTix, on Fri. Jun. 18th at 7PM PT/10PM ET. Tickets are only $15 and you can (and should) go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Best Of Who Wants $2.69 with Martin Urbano 5/19

May 18, 2021
News
martin urbano, quiz show, rushtix, who wants $2.69

Well past a year of this pandemic, Who Wants $2.69 with Martin Urbano remains one of the absolute best game shows to come out through this whole time, virtual or otherwise. Urbano’s deft and satirically clever hosting and questioning is so damn fun to watch as is any of the guests ponder/squirm/etc. in order to win $2.69.

As they’ve done dozens and dozens of editions of Who Wants $2.69 with Martin Urbano, there are favorite competitors and, as such, they’re going to do a “best of” round for a special night at RushTix. Urbano will be joined by the hysterical Usama Siddiquee and Jo Firestone and, possibly, you (if you’re up for the challenge).

This special Best of Who Wants $2.69 with Martin Urbano is set to go live on Wed. May 19th at 5PM PT/8PM ET. Tickets are only $10 and you can (and should) go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Enjoy It! LIVE: A Celebration of the Life and Comedy of Steven Brody Stevens 5/22

May 5, 2021
News
brody stevens, rushtix, tribute

Just over two years ago, the world lost a fiercely burning light of positivity, a, as Zach Galifianakis would lovingly describe, jock who does performance art, and one of the most original comedians that ever was.

Brody tragically passed away by his own hand in 2019, but his #positivepush spirit very much lives on in the lives of comedians and fans alike. That’s why there’s a bench in dedication to Brody in the Valley (as Brody would be 818 even after he died) and there’s a special tribute to him on his birthday, May 22nd, on RushTix.

YOUUUUUU GOT IT! Enjoy It! LIVE will celebrate Brody’s comedy and life as well as feature stand-up from his closest friends. It’ll also double as fundraiser for Comedy Gives Back, an org dedicated to supporting comedians in need, especially when it comes to mental and emotional health.

This special evening of Enjoy It! LIVE is set to go live on Sat. May 22nd at 6PM PT/9PM ET. Tickets are $10-$30 and you really ought to snag ’em here.

Pick of the Day: The Endless Honeymoon with Natasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher 5/15

May 4, 2021
News
live podcast, moshe kasher, natasha leggero, relationship advice, rushtix

When it comes to the non-professional relationship advice game, few couples are as a fun and spicy as Natasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher on their podcast The Endless Honeymoon (that started as a comedy tour, then a special first). For the entire run of their ‘endless honeymoon’ they’ve been roasting/advising couples in how to mend issues of all kinds and, consequently, making for some of Natasha and Moshe’s funniest moments during their tenure in comedy.

They’ll be doing a special, virtual live edition of Endless Honeymoon, presented by RushTix, coming this Sat. May 15th at 6PM PT/9PM ET and dishing out the same hysterical sort of analysis, solutions, and compromises that listeners/fans have come to love. Couples from the virtual audience will indeed be selected to have Natasha and Moshe dig into their relationship.

Tickets are only $15 (and we bet, if you’re watching as a couple, it’ll be two for the price of one). Go get ’em here.

Pick of the Day: Your Late Night Show Tonight Jackie Kashian 4/16

April 1, 2021
News
jackie kashian, late night, rushtix

If you’ve been in and around these parts at The Comedy Bureau, you really ought to know that Jackie Kashian is one of our all-time, hands down, absolute favorite comedians. Really, we highly, highly recommend getting into all her hours of comedy wherever you can get into them, her podcasts The Dork Forest and The Jackie and Laurie Show if you haven’t obsessively done so already.

Truly, anything that Jackie does (even a cameo on the latest episode of Bob’s Burgers) is something you definitely should check out.

That includes her taking over Your Late Night Show Tonight on April 16th where she will get to do her very own version of a talk show, which she not only deserves, but the prospect of which is so exciting. Again, Jackie is so damn funny to us that we’d love to see what that very sharply honed, pointed, hysterical sense of humor would do with a fully produced talk show.

Also, she’ll have an amazing team of writers including Carmen Morales, Wynter Spears, Stacy Rumaker, Virginia Jones, and Chelsea Pope as well as a very special guest in the one and only Margaret Cho. So, mark off Fri. Apr. 16th for this special live-stream, presented by RushTix.

Your Late Night Show Tonight with Jackie Kashian is set to go live on Fri. Apr. 16th at 9PM PT/12AM ET (stream will be available for 48 hours after show). Tickets are $15 and you can and very much should go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Sarah Silverman 3/6

January 29, 2021
News
comedy livestream, rushtix, sarah silverman

Since lockdown last year, odds are that you haven’t gotten to see any of your favorite comedians save for a small appearance on a charity benefit live-stream here or there. Some exceptions exist of course (Maria Bamford, Judah Friedlander, Jackie Kashian), but seeing many of the top shelf comedians for at least an hour has been quite a rarity for the last several months.

Thus, we’re giving you a heads up on the one and only Sarah Silverman doing an exclusive live-stream via Rushtix where she’ll be getting into a rather candid talk with the virtual audience. Silverman, as she wonderfully did in person in the before times, will take in questions and comments throughout the live-stream, making it even more intimate than just watching her do a set.

This Sarah Silverman live-stream is set for Sat. Mar. 6th at 6PM PT/9PM ET. Tickets are $20 and you can (and should) go get them here.

Pick of the Day: Dr. Katz Live 1/24

January 19, 2021
News
dave attell, Dom Irrera, dr katz, jim gaffigan, jonathan katz, livestream, maria bamford, rushtix

This week, amongst so many, will very likely prove how much we all need therapy right now.

So, that’s the perfect time for another virtual edition of Dr. Katz LIVE.

The famed animated therapist (who has done live, non-animated performances over the last few years), Dr. Jonathan Katz, will be holding another round of sessions with the likes of Dave Attell, Maria Bamford, Jim Gaffigan, Dom Irrera along with H. Jon Benjamin as Ben and Laura Silverman reprising her role as Dr. Katz’s receptionist. Both for the “clients” and the audience, it should be a healing, hysterical experience.

This live-streamed edition of Dr. Katz LIVE is set for Sun. Jan. 24th at 5PM PT via Rushtix. Tickets are going for $20 and you can (and very much should) get them here.

Pick of the Day: Sex with Margaret Cho 2/14

January 8, 2021
News
livestream, margaret cho, rushtix, sex advice

You probably already know, but this upcoming Valentine’s Day will be unlike any other that we’ve had in our collective lifetimes. COVID-19 will very much be around on Feb. 14th and the emotionally crippling isolation and quarantine fatigue will be right there with it.

So, in lieu of the more traditional methods of celebrating this holiday popularized by a card company, we’ll have to look to virtual offerings and it just so happens that Margaret Cho will be doing an exclusive live-stream via RushTix that will be explicitly be Margaret’s sex advice. It may not be a romantic dinner at you and your significant other’s favorite restaurant, but a whole night of the finer points of sex as detailed by Cho could very likely, we think, to be just as fun.

Also, at $20, it’s probably more affordable than whatever you’d normally do on Valentine’s Day.

Cheekily called Sex With Margaret, the live-stream is set for 5PM PT/8PM ET on Sun. Feb. 14th. Get your tickets here.

Pick of the Day: Maria Bamford 2/27

December 31, 2020
News
maria bamford, rushtix

A really lovely thing to look forward to at the start of 2021 would be Maria Bamford‘s very next show. When it comes to comedy that’s as heartfelt as it is life-affirming as it is hysterical, Bamford is who we always put our money on (especially with how 2020 has been and seeing what 2021 has in store for us).

Bamford do so many shows early on in the pandemic, but has scaled back as we got further into 2020. That being said, she still does her impromptu, one-one-one shows (done virtually, of course) that you should follow her @mariabamfoo if you want a chance to get in on.

For her next full headlining virtual set, Maria has Feb. 27th at 6PM PT/9PM ET lined-up via RushTix. Tickets are $15 and you best snag them here before they sell out.

The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 38: Jill Paiz-Bourque & Big Business in Comedy Live-streaming

The proliferation of virtual comedy due to the COVID-19 pandemic would naturally bring about the creation/transition of entire platforms/venues/etc. in order to serve a gradual mass exodus of comedy, for the time being, into the live-streaming sphere. Jill Paiz-Bourque founded RushTix to serve that exact purpose and has done quite well with building and creating a premium comedy live-streaming platform that aims to be a destination for comedy fans and those in dire need of that connection that they would get at any sort of live show (but especially in live comedy). Jill zooms with TCB’s Jake Kroeger to detail RushTix rise to putting on comedy live-streams that boast thousands of attendees as well as get in “hot” takes on Chappelle’s Show being taken off HBO Max, BBC’s new New Comedy Awards, and Boots Riley getting the green light for his new series I’m a Virgo.

Follow @RushTix across socials & visit RushTix.com for schedule/tickets/info & follow Jill @jillbourque on Twitter.

Pick of the Day: Dr. Katz Live 11/15

November 2, 2020
News
bob saget, dr katz, jon hamm, laura silverman, oscar nunez, paul f tompkins, rushtix, susie essman

In general, therapy is something that so should be in, but these times make the emotional/mental support that therapy provides is more crucial than ever.

Luckily, one of the best animated therapists around, Dr. Katz of Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist, is doing a very special virtual show this month to see some of his more high profile clients including Jon Hamm, Oscar Nunez, Bob Saget, Susie Essman, Andy Kindler, and Paul F. Tompkins.

With the results of tomorrow’s election not being able to be confidently announced for awhile, a comedy therapy session is something to look forward to maybe, perhaps calm yourself, even just a bit.

Also, Laura Silverman will be reprising her role as Dr. Katz’s receptionist, FYI.

Dr. Katz Live will be presented by RushTix on Sun. Nov. 15th and tickets are going for $20. Go get them here, before they sell out.

Pick of the Day: Maria Bamford-Help You Help Me Help You 9/26

September 23, 2020
News
live stream, maria bamford, rushtix

The comedy of Maria Bamford is one of a kind in that it’s some of the best comedy that the art form has ever seen and also manages to hold space for being so boldly vulnerable and inspirationally life-affirming simultaneously.

Certainly, Bamford has been a supreme source of respite during these times with the plethora of online comedy she has taken part in. This weekend will be especially special as this Sat. Sept. 26th at 7PM PT/10PM ET will have Maria engage in a hybrid of comedy and group therapy (billed as stand-up meets questionable advice) for her 2-hour interactive live-stream experience, Help You Help Me Help You!

Note on participating: All ticket holders will be able to opt-in if they want to randomly be selected to share the virtual stage with Maria.

Tickets are $15 and can (and very much should be) gotten at RushTix here.
