Amazon Renews “Transparent” for 2nd Season

October 9, 2014
Uncategorized
amazon, jill soloway, renewed, transparent

Even though it’s late in the year, Jill Soloway‘s Transparent has become one of the most talked about series of 2014 and rightfully so.

Thus, it should come as no shock to any of you that Amazon has picked it up for a second season to come some time in 2015 and making it exclusive to Amazon Prime.

Let’s all hope this is the start on a path for Amazon to foster and bring in more original, great comedies, especially since there have been rumors that they’re willing to shell out the cash for them.

Yesterday, Twin Peaks was announced to return after decades off the air and today, The Increasingly Poor Decision of Todd Margaret got renewed after a two year hiatus. Let your imagination run wild with what could possibly get renewed tomorrow after a long “break”.

FX Renews “You’re The Worst” and “Married” Renewed

When it comes to gritty, real-life relationship comedy series, FX seems to have it figured out. The award winning Louie leads that charge after four seasons, freshman series You’re The Worst and Married are now getting 13 episode second seasons.

However, You’re the Worst will be moving to FXx for that second season.

This might follow some sort of logic when you take into account that FXx skews younger and You’re the Worst is follows the beginning of a relationship while Married and Louie on FX are all about what happens as a result of long term relationships.

Despite Netflix being shut out of being recognized as a winner in any Emmy category this year, the online streaming giant is pushing forward with their own agenda.

Their first order of business today: give Bojack Horseman a second season.

Netflix’s first original animated comedy series hasn’t even gone a week since its release before getting the order from another season, but we’re happy either way to hear more of Will Arnett voicing a sitcom horse as well as having a stellar cast including Aaron Paul, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, and Paul F. Tompkins.

If you were potentially worried that you might not get to see the index finger of Chris Hardwick point to any number of comedians while yelling out “Points!” in 2015, then potentially worry no more.

As Hardwick stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he announced that the midnight hit at Comedy Central “@midnight” has been picked up for another year at Comedy Central and will run through 2015.

Chris and Jimmy also joked about the possibility of doing a crossover episode with this renewal, but we wouldn’t be surprised at all if The Tonight Show and “@midnight” despite their time slot conflict, did some sort of crossover.

They’ve done some crazy things on “@midnight” in case you haven’t regularly watched it.

Still, NBC’s fall comedy line-up (Bad Judge, Marry Me, Mysteries of Laura, A to Z) has yet to premiere and survive the gauntlet of their first season.

Both Drunk History and Nathan For You just got picked up for their third seasons at Comedy Central only after a few weeks into their second seasons.

On their night, we’ll still maintain that Drunk History, Nathan For You combined with The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and “@midnight” is one of the most solid blocks of comedy on TV right now and will thankfully be that way in the future.

The fifth season of Louie has officially been ordered and we won’t have to wait over a year for the season premiere. Next spring, Louis C.K. will have his next batch of episodes rolled out.

However, there will be only 7 episodes for this fifth season, which makes us wonder if they all will just be a half hour long (i.e. maybe they’ll be longer?).

Fox Renews ‘The Simpsons’ For 26th Season

The Simpsons have been running for so long, it’s weird to even think that they are getting renewed as opposed to just assuming they’ll just keep being on air (even with talk of the show bowing out relatively soon).

Either way, we’re looking forward to more guest directing of the opening credits.

It would seem Fox has another animated franchise hit on their hands and Bob’s Burgers would be not far off from from syndication on multiple networks.

Maybe, they’ll retake over that one Fatburger as a real life Bob’s Burger again.
