While it’s unfortunate to see another LA comedy-dedicated venue/school go away, iO West still has two weeks worth of shows to check out. See our calendar for our picks or take a gander at their entire schedule here.

Not only will this be a night of comedy starring the delightful Atsuko Okatsuka, it’ll also be done up like a “Japanese game show”.
Her guests include Rhea Butcher, Actress Ally Maki (TBS’s Wrecked), Kevin Yee (SF Sketchfest), Marlena Rodriguez (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Jibz Cameron (Hammer Museum, MOCA).
You’ve probably seen Japanese game shows as dubbed or remade by Americans. Now, you can see a real one as done by a Japanese-American comedian (that’s also woke).
So, with that in mind, you should get your tickets here.

L.A. Public Library Membership Now Gets You Access to Niche Streaming Service Kanopy
While Netflix does have access to pretty much everything, they don’t have streaming rights to everything.
That’s where other streaming services have come in amassing their own special collections of movies, TV shows, etc. in order to entice you to subscribe.
The LA Public Library has now partnered up with Kanopy, which allows you to stream plenty of documentaries, indie, and foreign movies that you can’t stream on Netflix (you can order a DVD and wait if you’re still into that).
Such titles that popped to us include:
Taika Waititi’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople
Charade starring Audrey Hepburn
Dave Made a Maze
Le Weekend
Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator
Computer Chess
Buster Keaton’s The General
Oscar Winning Short Films
If you have a LA Public Library card, then you get access to all of this for free, FYI. It may have been awhile, but maybe you should get one?
The magical musical Australian comedy troupe Aunty Donna is finally returning to LA with their brand new show “Big Boys”. They’re a high-energy absurdist romp that will make you wonder what they’re putting in the water down under.
They’ll be playing the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday, Feb. 27th at 8PM. Tickets are $25 and you can (and should) get them here.
The rest of our listings for comedy shows, events, open mics, maps, and more can be found at www.thecomedybureau.com.
NOTE: we didn’t go to any Super Bowl parties to make sure this was all taken care of, just for all of you.
As comedy at The Hammer Museum worked so well with Aparna Nancherla last year, the renowned museum will be having yet another night of comedy within their walls featuring another round of some of our favorites including Sara Schaefer, Kyle Mizono, Janine Brito, and Naomi Ekperigin.
No matter what you’re situation is on the day before Valentine’s Day, this ought to be a night that you won’t want to miss.
The event is free so long as you RSVP, which you can and should do here.
The rest of our listings for comedy shows, events, open mics, maps, and more can be found at www.thecomedybureau.com.
Whether it was pairs of these folks on stage together or not, the line-up for the upcoming Couples Therapy with Naomi Ekperigin and Andy Beckerman is beyond stuffed with comedy goodness.

Janine Brito and Paula Pell
Solomon Georgio and Casey Ley
Amber Nelson and Nick Vatterott
Pretty swell, right? So, go get your tickets here already.

For a year, a “sentient” robot has been hosting a delightful show in marvelous indie, underground venue that’s only accessible via an alley.
To mark the occasion, Mikey Heller, the robot, and a very stacked line-up that includes some very fun out-of-towners and retro-inspired magic will take place right after Valentine’s Day.
Seriously, a robot does host the show and you have to go see it for yourself.
