With an ensemble cast of Thomas Middleditch, Nick Kroll, Adam Pally, Brett Gelman, Alex Ross Perry, Jenny Slate, and Aubrey Plaza, you might think you’re listening to a supersized episode of Comedy Bang! Bang!

However, for the moment, that’s not the case. That cast has been assembled for the dramedy, Joshy, from Jeff Baena. Middleditch plays a groom-to-be whose wedding gets called off, but has to go through with the bachelor party anyway.

Sounds fun, huh?

Here’s the trailer.

Look for it in theaters starting August 12th, then streaming on Hulu.

We were thinking the guest star cast would be this good.

Sarah Silverman, Adam Pally, Mira Sorvino, Jenny Slate, Tig Notaro, Patton Oswalt, June Diane Raphael, Jon Cryer, and Brandon Routh will all guest star in the Maria Bamford series Lady Dynamite coming to Netflix next year.

While that’s all great to hear, we are curious to know if Maria will be playing her mom like she has done now and again.

Obvious Child’s Jenny Slate, director Gillian Robespierre, and writer Elisabeth Holm are reuniting once again.

Ari Graynor and Jenny Slate are set to co-star in FX’s newest comedy pilot, co-created by Robespierre and Holm, that follows them on a road trip across the country. If you’ve seen Obvious Child, you know that there’s probably way more bubbling under the surface than just that broad premise and we’re excited to potentially see what that is.

It seems to be the word on the pilot season street is that Jenny Slate will be scaling back her role on FX’s Married for a FX comedy pilot starring her and being written by Gillian Robespierre and Elisabeth Holm. All three last worked together on the indie romantic comedy hit Obvious Child.

As TBS and TruTV have stepped up their game in their recent development slates, respectively, with Samantha Bee’s satirical news show and Those Who Can’t, we certainly hope that this pilot becomes official soon.

While some are still focusing extensively on the movies that got snubbed at The Oscars, The Critics’ Choice Awards definitely gave honors to some of those in that are making that snubbed list.

Birdman did take Best, Actor, Best Score, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Original Screenplay and Grand Budapest Hotel took Best Comedy, Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design as the frontrunners.

However, Jenny Slate took home the trophy for Best Actress for her performance in Obvious Child.

The Guardians of the Galaxy and The LEGO Movie also got the awards for Best Action Movie and Best Animated Movie respectively.

So, we’re glad that The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards gave some distinction to folks that otherwise would be ignored by a certain Academy.

During her interview on Conan last night, Jenny Slate admitted that only recently has she watched one of the cornerstones of American cinema during the holidays, “It’s A Wonderful Life”.

While the movie is a classic, Jenny also revealed that she loved it in a way that most people probably have gotten to quite yet.

Side note: more movie reviews should be more like this.

The awards season for movies are coming closer with plenty of speculation as to who the front runners are. Well, some suspicions and pull quotes have been confirmed with Film Independent’s Spirit Awards announced the nominees for 2015.

If you’ve been to the theaters lately, you’ll probably guess that the tone of the awards fare is pretty bleak, but Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) garnered six Spirit Award nominations including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Actor (Michael Keaton), Best Supporting Actor (Edward Norton), Best Supporting Actress (Emma Stone), and Best Cinematographer (Emmanuel Lubezki).

The wonderful Jenny Slate also got a Best Actress nomination for her great performance in Obvious Child.

Everything else nominated was dramatic, gritty, heart wrenching, etc.

One can easily be lulled into the magical illusion of Marcel the Shell with Shoes actually having that fragile voice that he has, but you should know it’s actually the voice of Jenny Slate.

Gabe Liedman and Jenny Slate are besties, in case you don’t know. So, when they’re on The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail on Comedy Central, they are, of course, going to read a screenplay, that may just be more than a screenplay.

For the rest of us, it’s just a movie that we hope gets made even though it’s around 4 pages long.

The Golden Globes winning series Brooklyn Nine Nine will be returning to Fox Sept. 28th for its second season.

While that’s certainly a reason to get excited, Jenny Slate, who we hope you all thoroughly enjoyed in Obvious Child this year, will also be guest starring on that very same season premiere episode.

We wouldn’t be surprised if this is only the start of what Brooklyn Nine Nine has up its sleeve for this season.

Obvious Child’s Jenny Slate stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers last night to share some of her most wondrous, embarrassing stories including taking a prom picture with a HS kid as she’s a full grown, way too excited woman as well as confusing astronomy and astrology in a class where she was too high.

So, enjoy those and then, of course, go see Obvious Child.

Thanks to The Exchange and A24, the whole world will potentially see the release of a film starring the amazing Jenny Slate playing a stand up comedian in Brooklyn also featuring Gabe Liedman and Gaby Hoffman.

Rest assured, we’ll be looking for a release date like the rest of you.

If you have prerequisites for supporting a Kickstarter, we’d hope that a funny film getting accepted into sundance and a film starring Jenny Slate with Gaby Hoffman and Gabe Liedman would be good enough for you to donate.

Gillian Robespierre’s Obvious Child has indeed been accepted into Sundance and from this Kickstarter video looks like it definitely belongs there. As suggested above, Slate, Hoffman, and Liedman are all in it, so give it some money so it can finish and be a potential indie comedy hit in Park City, UT next year.
